Eve, definitely Geiger inspired. He's always been inspired by him, much to my mom's dismay. Wink He's been drawing with ink and paper since he was six and tattooing for 12 years now and the majority is like this. Skulls and futuristic machine type creatures, not my cup of tea but a lot men get these types of tattoos.

Gaupagirl, I have to say, my brother is constantly covering up an ex-lover's name or initials. Even if you know you will last forever, and I have no doubt you two will, I wouldn't do it. I like your new sig, especially now that I know what it means!

Hmmm, it looks like this conversation might already be over but I was away for a couple weeks and didn’t see/read this post till now and I can’t resist sticking my oar in....

I have to say that I’m really on the fence regarding tattoos: I think a small, discreet one is nice but I’m creeped out by people who get their whole bodies done! A specific example is Angelina Jolie. I think she’s just gorgeous (I want lips like that!!), but when I see pictures of her on the red carpet in some gorgeous designer evening gown at the Oscars or something, all of her body art really detracts from her beauty – at least in my opinion. She has this one tat on her shoulder that I swear looks like a UPC bar code – I keep expecting someone to scan her shoulder for a price-check at the supermarket!! I realize that some of her tats are really profound and special to her (i.e.: the one to commemorate her involvement as a UN Goodwill Ambassador and champion of civil rights), but still...at what point does enough become enough??

Personally, I want to get a small tat of a bluebonnet (state flower of TX) on my ankle or the top of my foot. The only reason I don’t get it done is because I see people who have had tattoos for years, and they all look bluish-green. Does the color fade from a tat so you have to get it retouched every so often to keep the colors vibrant and true?? If I get my bluebonnet, I want it to LOOK like a bluebonnet, not some monochromatic flower.... How much upkeep will it take to keep my bluebonnet looking purple, anyway??

The other thing I think about is what will a tat look like in 50 years when I’m old and saggy and wrinkled?? Am I going to be scared to look in the mirror?! Or what about women who have tats on their tummy or hip. What happens when you get pregnant? What will your heart/rose/butterfly look like in your ninth month?? What will it look like after you deliver? What if you end up with a stretch mark running thru the middle of your heart/rose/butterfly tattoo???

See, these are the type of questions that make me leery of going under the needle for my own bit of body art....But I guess it really all comes down to personal preference: if you want it, get it!! After all, you only live once, right?

Just my 2¢...even if it is a day late and a dollar short!
