I'm almost done with my bottle of Dermalogica ultracalming cleanser, so I thought I'd post a review. Dermalogica definitely has some nice cleansers. I love the Dermal clay cleanser, and can't really say a bad thing about any of their cleansers I've tried.
This is a very light, white, cream-gel cleanser targeted for sensitive skin. You can either wash, or tissue off. I wash it off, but do find that I usually need to put some on a cottonball to remove my hard to remove eye make-up. They claim that this product is for people who can't even tolerate H2O, but about a month ago when I had an itchy allergic rash on my cheeks, the cleanser did not feel soothing at all. The only thing that was soothing was Decleor Harmonie Essentielle. But now that I'm all healed up thanks to time and that wonderful healing cream, I'm liking this cleanser. The cleanser washes off clean with no residue, no stinging eyes, and there is no fragrance to it. I'm still undecided as to whether or not I'd repurchase. I think I want to try other cleansers. Zazu has me intested in the Karin Herzog cleansing milk :P |

Hey Thoughtcrime!
I'm really happy to hear that your skin has cleared up.... mine has too finally (after more than 1.5 months!!!)... I may have been frustrated but really I was feeling like this it was seriously getting to me! I've never really had a mass of zits like that before. My mum comments how much better my skin has 'improved' since the horror break out so it really was out of the ordinary for her to see me like that.... It was interesting as when something goes wrong it forces you to do a bit of investigating into what's happening in your body. I eventually found out what was wrong and I'll post something in the other forum 'documenting' my experience and give a neat little 'cheat sheet' on diagnosing zits on your face :P
I've always preferred cream cleanser but still curious to try the milky ones-- milky but not too runny, a heftier form of milky if you like! Have you used any cleansers that fits that description? My next order will have the Yonka Gel Nettoyant Cleansing Gel in it. It will be a nice alternative to the Phytomer Gentle Cream Cleanser which I adore. The Karin Herzog cleansing one also sounds interesting, especially when Zazu described the nice surprise she got after she came out of the shower!

Hey summertimegirl, I'm so happy that your skin has cleared too! I know how you feel, I get really down when my skin is icky! I thoroughly enjoyed your post BTW, with your adventure with the naturopath. When my skin got really bad in grad. school I went to an accupuncturist. Anyway, interestingly enough, you were spot-on when you mentioned that zits in the cheek area are due to hormones. I got this huge zit on my cheek, and was wondering what was going on, lo and behold I got my period!
If you're looking for a heftier milky cleanser, this dermalogica one definitely wouldn't be it. Phytomer has a milky cleanser, but I found it to be super light. I used to use Sothy's normalizing beauty milk all the time, and loved it. Until one day, I couldn't believe I never noticed the non-vegan ingredient--lanolin! I was bummed. Decleor has a nice cleansing milk. But right now, as soon as I find out K.H. cleansing milk, I'm trying it! |
