I am leaving next saturday for a cruise to Bermuda(40th anniversary). I am overwhelmed . My husband and I don't travel that much. I am at a total lose of how much I need to bring. I hate to over pack. The cruise is casual. One dinner is semi-formal (but you don't have to even go to it).
BIG problem: Most of you know I hurt my ankle and it still gives me problems. I need a good supporting sandle (Berks are too hard on my feet). Any tips you can give me would be great.

Ahh Winnie - I wish I could help!! But, the truth is that even though I'm just under 5'10" I'm a huge fan of sky hi heels and with your ankle, you'd end up breaking your pretty neck and THAT will never do.
My mom had a very bad ankle injury as a child that never really healed properly and it plague her her entire life. She was very fashion conscious and always had trouble finding shoes that were stylish but also suitable. She was a very big fan of Naturlizer shoes. They are supportive and comfortable but also quite pretty.
Have a wonderful time - sounds like a dream! |

40 years! Holy Smokes, Winnie - that's great! Re: footwear -- there is nothing worse than unhappy feet! I'd probably just wear my most comfortable sneakers and wear a sandal of some sort only if I absolutely had to...
Enjoy Bermuda!!

Crocs are REALLY comfortable! There are honestly the most comfortable shoes I have ever worn in my life and I hear they are very comfortable among hospital workers who are on their feet all day. The only caveat is that if you buy a pair with no ventilation holes you must wear socks or they will become extremely slippery with (yuck) feet sweat.
The Cayman model, as far as I know, provides the most support. The Nile definitely appears more stylish to me.

Also, I have found zappos.com to be extraodinarily useful in seeking out specialty shoes. Good luck! |

You are awesome. I am hearing about brands I never heard of!!! Isn't it great to be able to get review before buying? I do plan to wear my sneakers with orthodics in them as much as possible but not out to eat. |

I have the Birks but a lighter but supportive sandel I really like is the Clarks England "Suntrek". The vamp and around the ankle are adjustable with velcro and they do not look clunky. |

Winnie -
Have the best time ever!!! Congrats on your wonderful milestone anniversary. Sheesh, and I thought I was doing good celebrating 14 years last week!
Bermuda is a romantic dream. You will have a blast - AND your feet will be comfy cozy thanks to the awesome advice here! Enjoy the pink sande and rum fizzles (or was it twizzlers?) Cant' remember now, probably because I had too many of them!

I just realised the link I posted doesn't work with the pics. Here is the Co website

I have a pair of the moon mist ones from last year and I live in them. They are soooo comfortable and the 'proper' shoes look good too

OMG!!! Liz I think these are the ones I need. When I was in my walking cast the boot had the same rocking movement that these sandles have. I think they just might do the trick. Found a few stores within an hour of where I live. Tuesday I am going shopping. Where I have a problem foot I think it's best I try on before I buy. Will let you know how I do.
Thanks Liz |
