I had four months of the kids doing all the catch phrases from little britain before I saw it and thought they were funny even then. Thing is they are sooooo true! Dafydd, the only gay in the village is I'm sure based on a welsh friend and Vicky Pollard is clearly a style icon to all the local girls. Lou and Andy (the pseudo disabled guy and his carer) are even funnier when you find out that they were originally based on Lou Reed and Andy Warhol (I think they are anyway!).

As for David Walliams, I'll give him "bitty" any time Laughing

PS Pudoodles, vicar of dibley is zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz (sorry sarah Smile )

I think Guapagirl hit the nail on the head! Alot of the British comedy plugs into real life in a way in which American comedy rarely succeeds (I'm sorry but Friends just *isn't* funny - and who are these fashion clowns anyway?! (yawn))...In British comedy, the characters exude character traits that real people can respond to on some level (look at the success of Coronation Street in Canada!) - and so often the characters say and do the things that everyone "thinks" at one time or another - but never says out loud - or act upon! And we all know or recall "A Vicky".... The Warhol/Lou Reed connection is absolutely hilarious! I just told Mr. P and he laughed out loud!

Yes Little Britain is a huge hit over here in the Uk - was never a big fan of the office, more aimed at the Southerners.
Oh god on the busses, I remember the re-runs of this when I was a kid - the whole family would sit round and watch it. Have any of you seen the League Of Gentlemen or Peter Kay????
I'm sure if you want anything on DVD have a look on e-bay Smile

rosebud. Never thought the Office was 'aimed' at Southerners..surely everyone whether they have worked in an office or not has met characters like that at some time.

If you like Little Britain you'll love Nighty Night and The League of Gentlemen - which is rather dark but fantastic - they've done a film which should be out this year.

Peter Kay is another good one, taps in to that real-life humour that someone mentioned (Saw Jack Dee last week Laughing )

Have to ask but I am the only one who doesn't like Monty Python?

One of my personal faves was The Day Today and Brasseye (Spawned Alan Partridge)it was a satire on news media and how they blow-up and spin stories (I know it was near the knuckle lots of times-one peice was like talk show where one guy came out and said
I'm HIV positive -
host: he was unlucky to get hiv through a blood transfusion,
guest:no actually I caught it off my partner-I'm gay
host: right so you have bad aids not good aids
etc Shock - but I know the UK isn't the only place to have a strong element of right wing press.

Finally got the DVD from my sister, Yeah My sister loves Vicky (the high school girl) and the fatfighter, they are funny, but my favourite is the "only gay guy in the village", he is hillarious with all his gay outfit, too funny !
