I received my latest EDS order approximately a week ago and one of my new goodies was "Pure Skin Formulations (PSF) Blemish Clarifying Mud". I have used it everyday since (usually overnight) as a spot treatment for acne and I am pretty pleased with the results.
It also just so happened that my order arrived right when I was having an enormous breakout (maybe I've been stressing my skin from introducing too many new products?) so I had plenty of zits to tackle (all deep ones, mostly along the jawline ... hormones, sigh).
Pluses:
- product dries quickly and didn't leave a mess on my pillowcase (as I said, I've been using it as a nightly spot treatment).
- mostly effective; made four smaller ones go away overnight; the larger ones took a few days (my previous blemish overnight spot treatment was to dab some strong AHA lotion, which was about 60% effective. Meaning it worked on about 60% of the blemishes, but when it didn't work, they just got bigger). I noticed SOME degree of diminishment in all the blemishes I put it on.
- I can feel it "soothing" right away, although that feeling only lasts for about 10 minutes.
- it's really cheap ($12, I think? Which should last me months).
- I kinda like the smell
Cons:
- You look like a swamp monster when it's on (it's mud, and it's green).
- I haven't yet noticed a reduction of redness, just pimple size, which sort of surprises me because I CAN feel it "soothing" the skin, so I assumed it would help reduce redness. It's not a huge issues for me as I can cover up discolorations with makeup but it's a lot harder to successfully cover up texture imbalances (both raised pimples and shallow scars).
- the product REALLY dries into your skin if you leave it on overnight, meaning it takes a while to get it off in the morning (I usually hold a hot wet washcloth up to it for a few minutes and then I still have to scrub, sometimes pretty hard, too).
Overall, I'd give it a 7.5 out of 10. I'm pleased and I'd order it again. |
