Your's truly is in desparate need of a vacation! (understatement of the year ) I did take two weeks off after Easter, but that was to have surgery & recovery. Hardly a "relaxing holiday", cooped up in an apartment ... with one's caring mother for two weeks.
Anyhow, I am trying to figure out where I should go. Tentatively, I have decided that I would like to go somewhere warm & sunny for a week at either the end of October (my b-day is Oct. 29th!) or beginning of November. I will be by myself, am definitely wanting to go somewhere all-inclusive. I want everything there, and want to bring very little cash. It's got to be a no-brainer holiday, and as I want to relax, I am preferring that children not be around.
So-far, I am have considered Club Med in Turks & Caicos or their Mexican resort. Also Hedonism III in Jamaica. Though the latter is reputed to be a bit wild, it seems newer, and the rooms are nicer. I don't have to participate in the nudie beach/pool. (no thanks) Besides, I've also read that Club Med isn't so puritanical either.
Has anyone out there been to either of these places, or know of people who have? I would like to know what their impressions were. Anyone got any ideas of where I can go, all inclusive, for a week? |

My cruise last fall stopped in Jamaica and I wasn't very impressed with Montego Bay. I heard from the people who went to the kingston and ocho rios areas that it's a lot better.
The island was really pretty and the tour we took was alright but when we ventured on our own into town for shopping I got a really bad vibe from some of the people. It didn't help that my taxi got pulled over for 20 minutes and nobody told me what was going on (stupid driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt!)
If you only want to stay in the hotel area I'm sure Jamaica is great..but montego bay isn't a place I'd go back to (especially alone!) |

How about going on a cruise that stops in a few places rather than just going to one place? I've never been on one (would *love* to go!) but it sounds pretty "all-inclusive". |

I've seen the TV series on Hedonism III in Jamaica....I'm to shy to go!!!!
Why not go the Mauritius? I went all inclusive to Marine resort. I had 2 weeks of total paradise...beautiful place and people, I'd love to go again... |

I saw some of the series too. I'm far too much of a prude to go somewhere like that. Bunch of people getting their kit off and group sex sessions in the jacuzzi. Tut tut!
Did anyone watching this programme also notice that most of the people on holiday at Hedonism seemed to be 45+. Is there something about being over the age of 40 that makes you want to start stripping and swinging? |

Thanks for the insight. Maybe Hedonism III isn't the right place for me. I am a good girl, and though I am no prude, the jacuzzi thing sounds too wild for me. Not to mention DISGUSTING! |

I'm sure the programme was probably edited in such a way that all they ever seemed to show was middle-aged couples swinging. Lots of old men with their kit off and lots of sexual shenanigans. A lot of the evening entertaiment at the resort seemed to revolve around sex and nudity.
Still, there may be other people at the resort who don't get involved in that sort of thing. You don't have to take part if you don't want to. You do have to be comfortable with seeing nudity though as I think some of the people wander about au naturel.
Don't know much about Club Med. I always got the impression that Club Med was for a younger crowd who were interested in getting beered up and sleeping around. Probably much like Hedonism but full of young 'uns who are a lot more lairy.
Or maybe I am getting it confused with Club 18-30.
ETA: I was thinking of Club 18-30. Have just checked on the internet and Club Med seems respectable. Here is a link to a website that gives reviews on Club Med Turkoise.

Be careful with Club Med though. Some of them are family oriented. I was looking into it a while ago, and some of the locations were all about kids. You should really check on the internet first, as they show the accomodation. I reason I decided against it is because the place that I decided I wanted to go had hut style rooms, and I didn't think they looked very safe. |

Have you looked into the Mayan Riviera (south of Cancun)? It is my favorite place on earth followed closely by Punta Cana. There are loads of all-inclusive hotels from 5 star to budget. I am hoping to head off to Secrets Capri in the Mayan Riviera next year for my 30th birthday
Check outwww.tripadvisor.com for reviews on locations and hotels. Great site |
