I need a gift for a 50 year old Australian woman who I know likes doing her nails and that's about it, it is more of a hospitality gift.
Is there anything that is sought after but not readily availabe in Australia that is in the UK?
Would love to hear your sugestions Very Happy

Is it skincare related? I know that the Body Shop here has a very small range of body butters compared with overseas. Also, if she is into fragrances at all, Diptyque is very hard to find here and they make some nice (but expensive) candles and house perfumes (not to mention actual perfumes). Eve Lom is another brand that is difficult to get here. That's all I can think of right now. If anything else comes to mind I'll let you know.

If she loves doing her nails, I recommend one or more of the following items:

• “Luxor Diamond Nail File” - approx $7.00USD

• “Seche Vite” or “Poshe” Fast-drying Topcoat - $9.95USD (I wrote about this in the “EDS Skin Care Forums - What USA must haves do I need to buy when I come to visit” thread if you want to see why it’s wonderful

• “Once Removed” nail polish remover - $6.99USD (I just posted a review of this REVOLUTIONARY product on MUA: http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemID=9284/Unlisted%20Brand/Once%20Removed%20nail%20polish%20remover/ and Mabsy can also attest to its absolute and astonishing fabulous-ness!!)

• “Luxor Diamond Pedicure Wand” or “Ms. Manicure Diamond Dust Pedicure Wand” - $9.99USD (these are the generic equivilents to the $50USD Diamancel foot file. I know for sure they have the Ms. Manicure version in the UK because it just so happened that I was googling for online retailers that have it this morning)

I don’t know if these things are available in the U.K., but I can get them here and ship them to you (or Australia!) – just PM me to work out the details.

Seriously, though, the above items (or at least the first 3) are what I consider “must haves” for anyone who enjoys manicures and/or pedicures, especially the fast-dry topcoat and the nail polish remover! I cannot even begin to rave about how amazing the Once Removed stuff is.

Carekate's idea about OnceRemoved is a fab one, given that the lady likes her nails Smile This used to be available in Australia (only in very few chemists though) but I have not seen it for ages. I swear this is your best friend if you do your nails often (or even if you only do them every once in a while!).

Seche, OPI, and Essie are all available here now btw. The Luxor is not and we also do not seem to have diamond foot files either.

Wow thanks for all your suggestions, I know that she spends half her time in the US and half in Australia Laughing
So what I am going to do is tell her about all those fantastic nail products for when she is in the US and ask her over the phone what she wants from the UK Very Happy
I thought if I was in her shoes I'd rather someone just me Laughing

Off topic...are you coming to Australia or meeting her in the US, as I remember you said you were going there soon.
Either way hope you find something special for her...I have no idea what. Love crabtree and evelyn, is only available in big cities here. Depends maybe a bit on where she lives when in Australia as to what she would like.

Very Happy

Maybe something from Harrod's? Was like a mecca for some of my schoolfriends who went over there- not sure what it is like but has a mystical-type reputation over here. I really don't know. Hope you find something anyway.
