Its been a week and i feel like my EOs are losing their scent to vinegar. But i def like the effect of it. And like you said, the smell wears off once the toner evaporates so i guess i'll learn to live with it. btw, do u apply the toner to the eye area (undereye and lid)? Its the first time im using toner so sorry if this is a stupid question |

I have been using my ACV toner every night since March/April and my skin has that wonderful healthy glow now.
I follow the Dr Hauschka regime of no moisturiser in the evening, just Cleanse and Tone and it has had amazing effects on my oily skin.
I used to wake up in the morning to an oil slick, now I forget I even have oily skin!!! |

Well, I personally do NOT apply it to that area, but it could be that I've been doing it wrong all these years myself! ARE you supposed to use toner around the eye contour area???

...I'm pretty sure my Super ACV Toner has gone off a bit. It just doesn't seem the same as before. Mind you, I've had it for quite some time now (few months?). |

Mabsy I had that same problem (seemed fermented after a month or so). Now though since I add the Ylang Ylang oil and some Germaben from the "Personal Formulator" it stays good to the last drop. |
I haven’t personally experienced my ACV toner “going off,” but then again I go through a bottle per month so it doesn’t last more than 30 days per batch. However, since I’ve been receiving requests from EDS members wanting to purchase ACV toner from me, I don’t want to take any chances on sending someone “bad” toner so I’ve just ordered some of this Germaben stuff myself.
Sharky – how much Germaben do you add for, say, each 8-oz bottle of toner?
TIA,
Carrie |

I think that the Ylang Ylang oil also has an antibiotic effect. I also use about 1/2 teasp
of Germaben to about 1.5cups of ACV toner. |

Carrie, I've only managed to go through over half a bottle of it in that period of time but I think the difference here might be temperature? Because I used this daily I left it out on the counter in my bathroom. I know it's been winter here but that doesn't change the fact that my bathroom regularly got to the 28 or 30 degree (Celsius) mark. I wish I put it in the cupboard and I think that would have lasted fine. |

Mabsy,
Maybe the essential oils have dissipated and now you just have ACV smell left so without the EA balancing the pungent smell of ACV out...it might smell off to you. It happens to my bottle all the time. Even though it is an amber glass bottle I open it all the the time and thre is lot of empty space in the bottle.
Vinegar is a strong preservative. |

It could be something along those lines - it is a different smell though. Fermented is a good way to describe it (I'm borrowing sharky's terminology here ). I have a bottle of ACV at home (I drink some with warm water ) but it smells different to that. |

I was delighted to come across this forum and this particular thread. I never would have known there were so many uses for ACV if not for this site! I'll be making a special trip to the store tomorrow to purchase the ingredients needed to make the toner. Can't wait to see the results. thanks again! |

I absolutely love acv as a toner. I want to try carekate's recipe, but i've searched everywhere and only found ascorbic acid with rose hips (GNC) would that be okay or does it have to be Pure l-ascorbic acid? |
