Hi everyone,
I don't see bakuchiol getting much of a mention on the forum, yet it's meant to be a pregnancy-safe alternative to retinol, and also in general a gentler yet effective alternative to retinol. There have been studies that have found equivalent, or at least very similar results between bakuchiol and retinol. When I was pregnant a couple years ago I stopped any retinol/retin-A products and didn't realise there was an alternative - would have been helpful to know given the melasma I was gifted!
I've just started using it (I also see Juice Beauty have it in one of their masks) and I'm curious if anyone here has any experiences to share?

Never heard of it but it sounds interesting.
I wonder if it is better for sensitive skin. I cant use most retinol products so would love an alternative. |

It's quite recent in the skincare industry I think and the range of skincare with it still seems very limited. Studies show pretty promising results though, and yes it sounds like it would be something that would also be more suitable for sensitive skins. In essence, it seems to have very similar results to retinol but via a different mechanism. See, for example: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/29947134/ |
