The dental implant, which is usually a cylindrical or conical titanium post, is surgically placed in the maxillary bone.
As you heal, your implant will be osseointegrated, that is, it will be integrated into the natural jawbone, and, in this way, both will grow together and form a solid and lasting foundation for the replacement teeth. This healing process can last for weeks or months; Meanwhile, you can continue with your daily life and go regularly to your dentist.
Once the implant is integrated into the maxillary bone, a small connector, called a pillar, is placed over the dental implant to attach it to the replacement teeth.
Then, the tooth is connected, the bridge supported by implants or the prosthesis -which contains several teeth- to the abutment. |

I am having dental problems. I have three choices, Dentures, dental implants in bethpage or partials, which the latter hasn't worked for me previously. My Dentist wants to do a couple crowns and a couple implants and leave the rest of the lower teeth. If you have had Dental Implants would you recommend it or not? Crowns? The Implants seem to be quite painful and an extended healing time. TIA. |
