I bought 10 of these glass ampoules in the hopes they would help clear a breakout/irritation I had following trying JB Organic Cleansing Milk (1st breakout/problem in 10 mths! )
I like the rest of the Dr H range but wasn't sure about the whole 'no moisturiser at night' thing!
The breakout had begun to clear up (thanks to going back to Dr H plus the addition of the last of my PSF O2 serum that I had in the cupboard)before I used the ampoules but my skin was blotchy and had dry patches, oily patches and the places where I had had the spots were red, still healing and dry making using concealer difficult! My skin was generally not happy, irritated and unbalanced. (Scary what one new product can do to upset the balance! )
Anyway onto the review!
The ampoules look 'the business' but I'm not sure I like them! You have to be very careful opening them so that they break cleanly and you don't get tiny slivers of glass in the serum when you shake it out onto your palm. Also the broken ampoule is very sharp! I applied the liquid after using the Dr H cleansing milk then Cleansing cream.
The liquid itself is watery and smells a little like rose water. On application onto the skin it goes a long way! It soaks in quite quickly on the skin. The first night my skin felt very tight and dry and I gave in and applied some eyecream and a little Cammelia Oil onto my cheeks. In the morning my skin was nice and balanced and the dry patches seemed less obvious even on the patches I had not put the oil, the redness was much reduced.
Over the next few nights I needed less and less eye cream/oil to relieve the tightness and my skin looks SO much better. The breakout has almost completely cleared and the dry patches have gone completely!
Anyway all in all I am really pleased with them apart from the rather scary packaging and that they are also pretty expensive but for a skin 'emergency' I think they are useful and effective, even if you do need to moisturise a bit too. I'm still not completely convinced about the not moisturising at night but I'll see how it goes - think I'll still use a little eyecream even if the rest of my skin feels like it doesn't need it.
I will be getting some more to finish the recommended 28 day treatment.
ETA: The only other products I'm using in addition to the above are PSF 20% C serum and Avene SPF 50+ in the day and RosaYFruta Ambrosia. |

I've used the ampules, too, and I loved them. They really really helped the redness in my face go away - it's too bad it came back a while after I stopped using them. I can't afford to use them more than maybe once a year!! I agree the glass ampules are a pain in the neck...I did manage to develope a technique for cracking them open but I would have preferred something I could unscrew or maybe plastic ampules. |

Hmmm I have had my eye on these but the price does put me off and I would want the 50 amps.
On the Dr Hauschka site it recomends using these at the beginning of each new season !!
I think it would be much better if the amps were in a battole form like the toners instead. |

i got these a while back as a freebie and broke the tops of maybe 5 at a time and poured them into an old dr h toner bottle i had. they lasted me much longer than 5 days because i didn't feel as though i was losing half the contents when i tried to put it in my face! the spray system was much easier. i guess you could always pour one capsule at a time into a bottle and use it as a spray that way... time consuming and fiddly though...
now that i think about it, i have to admit they were mighty fantastic... might invest in some for use at the end of our winter - 6 months away - that'll give me time to save up!

Now the spray bottle idea is interesting just wondering if the product would lose effectiveness when exposed to the air though?
Just wondering as I'm thinking that they must package the product in the ampoules for a reason?
Still liking these by the way! |

yeah, i know what you mean. although if you did just one at a time and used up the whole ampoule that would essentially be the same as putting it on with your hands wouldn't it?

It does take some convincing not to use anything else other than the ampoules... but after a few night's use, I do see a difference; so I decided to stick to this regime for the month.
ok, i started off using two ampoules each evening, as the liquid does get absorbed very quickly. After about 4-5 evenings, I seem to have smaller pores and my complexion has evened out. As I continued, I am now using 1 ampoule per evening. It seems like the skin was very thirsty when i first started, and 'dranked up' this solution.... now that my skin isn't as thirsty, it's 'drinking up' less.
i'm overall happy with this product and will definitely make it a habit to use it twice a year. |

i love this idea of putting them into little bottles so i don't have to use a whole ampoule a night. i don't think my face needs that much... money saving too. |

They actually have a special teen version (as well as menopause one).
I ordered it myself (the regular version), used it last night for the first time. Definately felt a need to use two ampules, because my skin just drunk the first one immediately & still felt dry. This morning I woke up ok looking - I tend to look better in the morning using HA + Emu Oil at night. Anyway I will use it again tonight (I am out of my HA & Emu Oil & just ordered them on Monday, so I don't really have too much of choice now) & will post my update tomorrow.
PS I actually like ampules - my DH even noticed them & developed some interest. That's very rare... |
