4thin02,
You will not find an H.A. Serum over 1%. 2% and up would be a solid, plastic-like gel that could not be applied topically. Which websites encourage more than a 4% solution of HA? Also, I'm not sure that DMAE in an acid delivery system would be the most effective. All of the studies for topical amine DMAE were done at 3% in a stabilized, slightly alkaline base. Adding DMAE to hyaluronic acid will neutralize the DMAE, at least in part. Although hyaluronic acid is a relatively weak acid, it would still neutralize the DMAE, giving you a lower resultant percentage and decreased penetration. HTH! |

bushy,
If the pH is high enough, the shelf life should be quite long, even without a preservative being present. The problem is that the DMAE when exposed to air evaporates rather quickly. (just think of the fumes you smell when you open the jar) So unless it is in an airless system, every time you open the jar or bottle, you are losing DMAE. Is this a major concern? No, not really. Especially if you are using the product daily. Chances are you will use it up before a significant percentage of the active dissipates. I wouldn't store it for years, besides, the whole point is that you want to be using it!

Hey.. yeah, my eyes do eventually recover from DMAE, it takes a day or two. I don't know what it is but my eyelids seem sensitive to a lot of anit-aging things like copper peptides, DMAE, and I think *maybe* retinaldehyde (I got the Avene eye cream w/it and I think I detect just a tiny bit of droop with it). The only thing that seems "safe" for me is matrixl, but it might be because matrixyl is the weakest collagen builder? I don
t know... |
