So, here's my story:
A few days ago, I somehow managed to end up with the largest, angriest blemish in the history of the world, right smack dab in the middle of my chest of all places. This thing was an unholy monster!!!! Luckily, after a few compresses of Carekate's Bump Blasting potion, it came to a head and with the help of DH (sorry, I know it's gross, but I'll tell you what, times like this I'm glad I'm married!) I managed to extract that sucker!!! However, the ah, aggressive extraction process left the middle of my chest red, swollen, and sore. I was getting ready for bed, so I soaked the pad of a bandaid with more of the Bump Blaster and went about my nighttime routine. However, I accidentally used a so-called "Active" band-aid with extra-strong adhesive. As you all know my skin is ULTRA-sensitive, so within 20 minutes or so my skin was so terribly irritated by the adhesive that I had to remove the band-aid. (I'd like to note here that the patch of skin that was covered by the band-aid pad was not irritated at all, so it was indeed the adhesive, not the bump blaster, that was irritating me.) I removed the band-aid and was horrified to see what was under it. While the Bump blasting solution has managed to being SOME of the swelling down (My chest now more closely resembled Vesuvius, not Everest), there was still lots of swelling, AND I was now plagued by a terrible red, itchy rash where the band-aid adhesive had been. Mein Gott, I just can't win!! I was trying to think of what I should put on it to calm it down--- I needed something to soothe the rash, the itching, and the redness, but something that would also treat the post-extraction swelling WITHOUT re-clogging our friend Vesuvius. Aha!!! I remembered that I had just purchased a kit that contained a tube of Baby Bee Diaper Ointment. Actually, I had been planning on using it on my hand eczema, but the MUA girls had been raving about it for blemishes and rashes, so I thought, why not, right? It comes out of the tube as a thick, opaque white cream, and it smells of lavender and chamomile, ahhhhh! I spread some over my poor chest and immediately felt the itching and burning subside! I felt slightly better, so I called it a night and went to bed. In the morning I dashed to the bathroom and anxiously peered at my chest. It was like a miracle! The redness was gone, the rash was gone, and the swelling was 100% gone!!! There was still a small red mark where Vesuvius had been (darken my doorstep no longer, vile fiend!!!), but when I ran my finger over the area I didn't detect even the slightest bump. I had DH feel it too, and he couldn't believe it!
One thing to keep in mind is that the first ingredient in this stuff is zinc oxide, so it's going to be VERY white on your skin--- probably a night-time or under-clothes treatment only for most people. If you (like me!) are skeptical about a diaper ointment working so well for rashes and blemishes, instead of buying a full size tube you can buy a handy Baby Bee try-me kit for $7 or so that contains a travel-size tube of this skin-healing goodness. That way, should you be disappointed you still can enjoy the Baby Bee lotion, dusting powder, baby oil, buttermilk bath, etc etc. However, should you be interested in taking the plunge and buying a full-size tube (which I will be doing pronto!), it'll run you around $7 for 1.75 oz at grocery stores, drugstores, and drugstore.com. The ingredients are: Zinc Oxide, Sweet Almond Oil, Beeswax, Tocopheryl Acetate, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Jojoba Oil, Lavender Oil, Retinyl Palmitate (Vitamin A), Extracts Of Rosemary, Lavender, Calendula, Chamomile, Rose Petal, Comfrey Root
I'd like to add that while I don't have any babies myself, I can only imagine what a dynamite job this stuff would do at taking care of diaper rash after seeing how it cleaned up the disaster area known as my chest. I have a friend who is having a baby in a few months, so I'm going to make sure a tube of this stuff finds its way into her hands!
