I have been a Herbal Recovery Gel devotee for almost three years and it is definitely a Holy Grail product for me. I am almost 31 and I constantly get carded at the bar. I think my skin looks better now than when I was 27! It gives my skin the youthful glow it used to have when I was younger. When I lived in Australia I used to frequent the Jurlique Day-Spa in Melbourne and they scolded me for putting it the Recovery Gel around my eyes! The beauty therapists said it was too strong and was not meant for the delicate skin around the eyes. Which was kinda weird 'cos I am sure one of the assistants in the Jurlique store told me that it was okay to do so. But I would be more inclined to listen to the beauty therapists as I am sure their training would have been more comprehensive. I also have acne prone sensitive skin and I find as long as I have a gentle cleanser and moisturiser and only use the tiniest amount, this stuff does not break me out or give me rashes. I used to use the whole Jurlique line (cleanser, floral water, moisturizer, AHC, cleansing cream, eye gel etc) but I found in the end I got rashes around the sides of my face so now I only use Herbal Recovery Gel alone with other more gentle products and it seems to work great! |

I really like Dr Hauschka's products also, but I find that they tend to clog my pores and give me blackheads if I use them all the time. I tried the Rhythmic Night Conditioners for a few months at night (they recommend this to get your skin used to no night creams) but I gave up after I thought my skin did not look better but dryer and duller. I think I like using night creams! I just would make sure they are not too heavy.
Jurlique also have a Herbal Recovery Mist, which is designed for night use. I have extremely problem skin and this broke me out so I gave it to my mother and she thought it was great! It might work for you. I think it is cheaper than Herbal Recovery Gel also. I like using the Recovery Gel at night I don't think it would be too heavy.
I heard somewhere (I am not sure if it is true, a Dr Hauschka shop assistant told me) that Dr Jurgen (Jurlique) used to work for Dr Hauschka. There are quite a few similarities with their products, but I have noticed Jurlique include Lactic acid (from milk) in their products which is probably why they don't clog my pores as much and I'm pretty sure I read in booklet I got from Dr Hauschka that they do not believe in using any hydroxy acids as they say they damage the skin.
My favourites are:
Jurlique Herbal Recovery Gel, Neck Serum, Face wash cream and I absolutely LOVE Jurlique's Moor Purifying mask.
Dr Hauschka Rejuvenating Mask and Moisturizing Mask. |

My saga with the Jurlique Herbal Recovery Gel continues to stun me.
Almost 10 years ago, I tried my first sample pochette of the gel from Aedes. I broke out and couldn't understand why. The ingredients were far less suspect than other products I'd used and given me no troubles.
Every year after, another sample pochette would seem to work itself into my paws. Same cystic breakout would occur.
A few years pass, no using the dread Recovery Gel.
Back during Mother's Day a few weeks back, Jurlique had this AMAZING bonus bag and travel sized products GWP.
I bought my mother an EO Diffuser and kept the bag for myself ( ) Lo and behold, there was a .5 ounce bottle of the Herbal Recovery Gel. I eyed it warily and decided I was old enough now that it probably wouldn't give me any problems. I also decided to use a sample of the Penetrating Creme mask the nice SA gave me with my purchase.
Two days later: My chin is COVERED in cystic acne. I blame the Creme mask and keep using the Herbal Recovery Gel.
A week later, my chin is so bad, there is practically no skin untouched by cystic acne bumps. My cheeks and forehead turn spotty as well.
I think "Cripes, is it that damn HRG again!?!??!" Stop usage, do massive Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Gel usage and Dr. H Skin Conditioners instead of moisturizer... skin clears up and is pristine once more.
There has NEVER been a product I wanted to love more than the Herbal Recovery Gel and yet so hated me in return |

Jurlique's HRG is my new favorite. I use it both in the morning and at night. It works great after I figured out the best sequence to incorporate it into my existing routine. In the morning, I apply HRG after my C-serum then followed with moisturizer/sunscreen. It gives me a nice glow for the whole day. At night, I apply HRG after PSF's Retinol night repair. I just love my routine now |
