LOVE this stuff. I'm completely satisfied with it, and it's been a long way since I felt like that about any mascara. My search is over!
In my 20's, my favorite mascara was Clinique Long Pretty Lashes. I'm a brunette and had naturally nice, dark, curly lashes. I had no idea how good I had it! Anyway, Clinique Long Pretty is the thinnest mascara I have ever tried, and that's why I liked it. It is almost impossible to clump. If you just want some extra length with hardly any thickening, it's fantastic. Back then I tried a bunch of others including Lancome Definicils, but I can't stand even mild clumping and I always ended up coming back to Long Pretty.
A couple of years ago I had twins, and a whole lot of stuff has never been the same since. For one thing, my lashes are trashed now! Maybe it's just aging, but I feel like it was more attributable to the hormone rollercoaster that is pregnancy. Anyway, my lashes are sparser, much shorter, and almost stick straight now. For the first time in my life I had to buy an eyelash curler, which does help somewhat. I also started using Revitalash very recently and have been seeing some results. Meanwhile, on these "new" lashes, my old mascara just wasn't cutting it. I have been on a two-year quest to find something new, something that would give me length, plus a little thickness with NO clumping.
I swear I have tried half the products in the Sephora mascara display, but no joy. The Sephora brand curling mascara was OK but nothing to get excited about. Diorshow made me a clumpy mess. I actually trashed that one without finishing it. Most recently, they sold me on Fiberwig, a high-tech Japanese mascara. I liked the consistency but the brush is huge and a little hard to manage, and worst of all, it seems to straighten the curl right out of my lashes. I was feeling kind of desperate.
At Target a couple of weeks ago, the L'oreal Clean Definition Telescopic caught my eye, and I figured, what the heck? At least it's cheap. So I brought it home and I am in love. When I first saw the brush I was skeptical - it's very long and skinny with sparse, very short bristles. Didn't look like it held any product, didn't look like it would do much. Wrong! It has turned out to be my HG mascara. Very nice length, a little thickening, but no clumping, and it leaves my curl right where I put it. I feel like the super-skinny brush makes it easier to see where you are putting it for a more precise application as well. This plus a brand new Tarte curler and I am a happy camper!
