I have been using Never Over The Hill's fat burning lotion for approximately four weeks. So since I'm in review mode, I thought I'd add this as well.

About me: I'm a smidge under 5'9" and I weigh anywhere between 126 and 129 pounds. Since having my last baby I'd noticed this low back fat that was driving me nuts. I'd put my hand back there and think "WHAT IS THIS"? Since having my two surgeries it had seemed to be worse. Thus my decision to try the fat burner. In reading this, please be clear that I'm a self employed fitness professional and that I work out regularly, normally twice a day. Toning, flexibility in the morning and I do my cardio in the evening.

Results: This stuff ROCKS! I measured my waist and hips prior to starting so I had a clear number I was working with. The first three weeks I applied the lotion *for lack of a better word* only to the area I was targeting, prior to working out. Both am and pm. The last week, because I was running low, I only applied before my cardio workout. At the the two week point in talking to a client, I reached back and touched my low back and was very surprised to feel less back fat. I then reached behind to the left and while that side seemed to have less, the right side was most definitely smaller than the left. I panicked a little and emailed John right off the back and we decided that this was probably a result of my workout. *whew* I chose to not measure myself until this morning and I'm very happy to say that I've reduced the fat in that area by approximately 3/4 of an inch. Hooray!
I'm all out of the product at this time but I'd like to reorder more and continue to use it only in the evenings.

The lotion is a dark, odd textured lotion. In no way could this be considered a cosmetically elegant product. It also has a distinct odor. I smell coffee primarily with some other odors that I don't recognize. It is runny so you can make a bit of a mess during application, especially if you're applying this to your back side. Wink I would not apply this while standing on carpeting...and have a rag handy to wipe up any spills or splashes. It comes with some explicit directions to use it on one body part at a time. It is not meant to be used all over. Choose one body part and use it in that area til you get results you want and then if needed, move onto another part of your body. The directions warn that upon first application you may feel a warm/hot sensation. That was not my experience. I felt it as a more cool texture. Like Bio Freeze or Icy Hot but not much heat. The directions also said that the skin can initially appear red. I didn't notice that either. The recommendation is to use it prior to exercise. I'm not sure what would happen if you wore it and didn't work out. A word of warning, do not wear light clothing. It will leave a noticeable stain so stick to dark clothing.

Feel free to PM me should you have any questions.

Just got a reply from JCH on the application timing and technique in applying. Thought I would share:

"it is usually best to apply the Fat Burning Lotion just before any workout that you might be doing. Or, if you are going to do house work, or anything that is energetic I would apply the fat burner. It's not a matter really of "how many times a day", but rather, applying it at the best time, which is during a workout or strenuous activity.

Good luck with the product. Smooth it on evenly with vigorous rubbing on the area of interest and then go workout. Keep us informed on how it works for you!"

Here is my 2.5 week update:

* I've continued to apply FBG to my buttocks area, covering everything from a very low end of my back all the way to the folds between buttocks and very upper part of my legs.

* I experimented twice with "no-wrap" solution and I didn't particularly like it. It felt to me that i would wipe some of the gel off as i would get dressed, and I also didn't get that good sweating going on without a plastic wrap. Also, without a wrap I did get some greasy stains on my shorts (not a big deal as I'm wearing the oldest bike shorts I could find in my drawer).

* My routine continues to be as follows: apply the gel, wrap the entire area + my thighs into saran wrap, put on a pair of tight shorts (to keep everything in place), and wear my workout pants on top.

* Now, the results: I've measured myself again and I lost another 0.5 cm (~ 1/4 inches) around my lower back/very top part of my but, around hips and around lower but. This makes it for a total loss (since I started 2.5 weeks ago) of 1 cm (~1/2 inches) around each of the three areas I measured Dancing Dancing . Needless to say - i am thrilled !

* I do continue to exercise regularly (3-4 times a week) + watch my diet. I must admit that I've been pretty bad this week as I indulged in way too many sweets (ovulation Question Shock ), but I will be cutting back on my sugar intake to go back to my regular low-sugar intake diet.

* I will likely change my FBG strategy for the next couple of weeks and move onto my legs/thighs. It's June, warm weather is here and i need to get my legs into a better shape. Also, i am thinking that giving my buttock area skin a bit of a break, may boost things up when I go back to that area in a few weeks. I have no proof that this will actually work, but I thought I'd give it a try.

* Oh yes, I've used approximately 2/3 of the gel (3oz container) so far. So, I have about a 1/3 still left.

That's it for now. Let me know if you have any questions.

ruk1, thanks for the further questions. Let's do a technical comparison of the Perfect Body Parts the Thigh Cream vs. the Topical Fat Burning Lotion from Never Over The Hill Cosmetics.

Perfect Body Parts the Thigh Cream: This one advertises that it has 3% Aminophylline as the active ingredient. You need to use caution when you see something like that. Quite often (as is the case here) simply "overloading" the active material in a product does not translate to improved and superior function. On the contrary, in many cases, the human body simply cannot process an active ingredient that is in an overload quantity. What cannot be used is either sweated (washed away) or removed by another body process without being used.

And, Aminophylline is the only active ingredient in this product for burning fat. Using Aminophylline alone is simply "very old news" in the fat burning market.

Topical Fat Burning Lotion: Not only does this lotion contain Aminophylline at a proper loading of 1.5%, but it has 4 other fat burning active ingredients that function in several different ways. That is a HUGE difference when compared to the Perfect Body Parts product!

The Topical Fat Burning Lotion contains these five active ingredients with these functions:

1) Aminophylline: This active material opens up blood passage ways, thus speeding up the metabolism at the site of use.

2) Caffeine: A body stimulant that also speeds up the metabolism at the site of application.

3) Areaumat Samphira: A plant based Chrithmum Maritimum Extract that also has been proven as a fat "flushing" active ingredient. This material makes it easier to "eliminate" the fat once it has been made mobile by the increased metabolism.

4) Lanachrys 2B: a plant based Chrysanthelium Indicum extract that literally blocks the body signals to store fat under the skin. This makes it easier to keep the fat from reforming under the skin once the metabolism is accelerated.

5) Ruscogenins: This is the "holy grail" of fat burning active ingrdients! This ingredient was studied and a published double blind study was written up in the Journal of Cosmetic Chemistry. The double blind study proved that Ruscogenins, an Amazon Rain Forest plant extract, was completely effective at burning and eliminating subcutaneous body fat and cellulite. The only problem is, this raw material cost $4,000.00 per kilogram!!! Nobody can afford to use it...except Never Over The Hill Cosmetics who saves costs through just in time production, no warehousing, and clean lean processing. NOTCH gains a very small profit from this product because of the expensive active materials, yet because this product works, and works very well, high volumes of sales makes up for the small profit. No other company in the fat burning market uses Ruscogenins in this way, they can't afford to and still make the excess profit that they crave.

So, there you have it. After reading this side by side comparison (which I enjoy doing with cosmetic products) you can understand why people are talking on this board and others on the internet about the fat and inches loss they are seeing with this product.

John

Lacy53, you bring up a good point about the lack of Retinol in some fat burning products. I was aware of the fact that caffeine and aminophylline had some fat burning effects. This combination is found in a LOT of fat burning and anti-cellulite products. I had also learned about Ruscongenins from a meeting with members of the Indena (Lipo Chemical) company at one of the In-Cos trade shows in Europe. Their independent studies on that (really expensive) raw material made me want to include it in a fat burning product.

I choose raw materials based on research. This includes studies by the raw material manufacturers as well as from clinical studies and published studies like the one from the Journal of Cosmetic Chemistry. That is why I chose the fat burning ingredients Caffeine, Aminophylline, and Ruscogenins. Research also led me to choose the Lanachrys 2B and the Areaumat Samphira as the fat mobilizing raw materials. I felt is was necessary to both metabolize the fat, and mobilize it away at the same time.

The reasons I did not choose Retinol are as follows. Retinol may have shown some effect in Dr. Kligman's study mainly because it has a surface effect on the skin. The Retinol can remove top layers of skin through a chemical peel action. It can also cause collagen formation to occur which can also change the surface of the skin over a long time period. But, in my opinion, it can do little to both metabolize and move fat deposits under the skin. So, the effect seen by the Retinol is purely surface (superficial) in my interpretation of that study. The trial members may have seen and felt a difference on the surface, but that doesn't necessarily mean that fat deposits had been burned or moved from under the surface. If you look at the great majority of anti-cellulite and fat burning products on the market today, very few contain Retinol.

So, I choose to add active ingredients that both metabolize and move fat deposits from under the skin. Since I am not a big fan of Retinol treatments, I really never even considered using Retinol in a product for the anti-cellulite and subcutaneous fat removal type product.

John

I have no issue with your choice of ingredients John. I fully understand that what you choose to include or exclude in a product is your choice, as the formulator.

What I do have an issue with is citing the study as a reference for your product. If the study included retinol an an ingredient and your formulation does not include that ingredient, then you can't claim your product has been tested in clinical trials. tmeyer66 asked for the clinical trial information on your product. This was your reference:

"A double-blind evaluation of the activity of an anti-cellulite product containing retinol, caffeine, and ruscogenine by a combination of several non-invasive methods".
