In my experience the ominilux products made by phototheraputics work really well, in fact I have most of the LED products and I would honestly say this products is the most effective for reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

If you are interested I can give a more scientific reply - but just for information the two wavelengths - red and infra red - activate different cells to combat aging and stimulate the production of collagen. Phototheraputics state that the two wavelenghts are counter productive when used at the same time. The protocol is you start with two red treatments two days apart and follow with infra red.

The leds used in these products are the same ones used in the salon units which retail at 20,000 pounds uk.

The device is the same product at the Dr Pericone device.

I use this protocol:

Cleanse
Glycolic product 15 mins
Red light
Derma roll 0.5 lightly
Vit C treatment
Emu oil over the top

Repeat with infra red in the second week.

I tend to let my skin rest for about 4 weeks without anything - to give the body a chance to replace the collagen.

Good luck.

PQ.

I hope it will be simpler to use than what MACrisis shared.. Can't you just do a full treatment in one sitting with one wavelength, and then in a few days do the full treatment with the other.. Confused (I use the AALS for an hour, so even if the Omnilux took 2 I'd be willing to do it watching TV.)

I have been thinking about this device for about 6 months.. It was actually Steve from LS who told me back in February that the studies were proving it to be a great device. (I really respect Steve + his company on so many levels..A+ all the way around.. )

I'm still extremely happy with both of my LS devices. They have transformed my skin in 2 years. But my curiosity (and a great ebay deal) just got the better of me, and made the timing perfect to try this LED that I've been pondering for a long while.. And just like all of you, I love my gadgets and I'm always looking for the next great one.

Most of you who really know me well, already know that I'm most responsive when I change things up.. I tend to get in a skin rut when I keep things the same for too long. My feeling is that maybe this LED will give me just that little change from what I'm doing, to perk up the collagen synthesis even more .. I'll never know unless I try. I already know that I'm very positively responsive to LED treatments, so I'm really expecting this LED to work as well, and hopefully even better. My skin is really in fabulous condition, so my only concern is keeping the sag at bay and building more collagen.. Believe me when I tell you, (and I'm sure Keliu will agree), being 59 brings a new sagging dilemma every day, and keeping up with that alone is a miracle of sorts.

One thing is for sure though, if using these specific wavelengths separately (rather than simultaneously as in the AALS), makes a real difference to the results, I will be yelling it loud and clear to all of you..

I haven't used either LS for the past week, and won't get the Omnilux for about 8 days, so my plan is to do it exactly as instructed, using only the topicals included for treatment, and test it for a full 8 weeks.. My thought is that since I am so responsive to LED treatments, I should have a good idea in one skin cycle, if this will be as good or better than the AALS.

I'll take a few 'before' pictures and try to duplicate them at 4 weeks and 8 weeks.. I'm really excited to give this one a try.. (Hopefully it won't wind up in the dead tool graveyard with so many other's.. Sad ) But really, for $125 bucks it's well worth a shot. I actually saw the pack of 9 topicals on Amazon by itself for $145. Shock )

So that's it.. I hope you will all keep your fingers crossed and wish me luck.. As always I'll share the good, the bad or complete f-*k up with my usual bluntness and candor.. Bad Grin

PQ, thanks for that info.

Rileygirl, that’s interesting! How many treatments per week did you have with the Prolight Red before you noticed results with the broken caps?

I followed Rita's advice and used it once per week, 30 seconds on the spots with broken caps. I will say within 6 weeks (of 1 x a week use), I had good improvement in the broken caps.

As promised this omnilux (just recieved today) is getting the workout of it's life. It wasn't as small and crappy as I expected from Kassy's post, but I know she was comparing it to the AALS which is obviously much bigger and better built. The fan isn't too bothersome to me, but I can imagine if you were used to not having one it would be an unwelcome change. I don't mind a bit of white noise and find it relatively quiet.

The red lights (which are all I've used so far as I'm starting off with the red treatment today and will do the IR day after tomorrow) are lovely and warm, and feel great on my neck shoulders and face. I've been doing it for hours while at the computer. I've covered my entire face, neck, shoulders, and might even do my wrists and hands!!

I'd love for it to work as well as the studies suggest. I'm using ECGC too, to enhance things. So far I love my new toy, especially as it was an inexpensive foray into my first LED. This way I'll get an idea of how well I feel it works for me, and how often I'll use it before perhaps moving up to a device with amber lights which I'm also interested in.

I'm very happy that the red and IR lights are separate so I know for sure theres not interference.

I'm finding the lightness of the omnilux a really great thing! As Kassy mentioned, it's made out of very light plastic (it's kind of a matt almost rubbery texture). Because it's so light, I use an elastic headband to hold it to whichever part of my face I'm using it on for the twenty minutes. I use a cool stopwatch timer download on my computer to make sure I do the right time. I'm hands free! I probably look ridiculous. My husband was wandering around our bedroom this morning as I had it strapped to my forehead and he's obviously so used to seeing me do bizarre things that he didn't say a word.

The red lights are blindingly bright. I have to make sure they're not shining in my eyes otherwise I can't do a thing. It would be nice if the surface was slightly curved like most body parts, rather than flat. I think that if the head was much bigger I wouldn't be able to hold it as close to my skin as I am (as where the face curves etc, there would be more distance). So, not having used any other heavier or larger LED's, I can say I'm enjoying it's size and lightness.

I strapped it to my wrist with a hair elastic, and was still able to type away. It was extremely soothing on my wrist and hand pain. It also seemed to dissolve the pain in my neck for hours after I used it yesterday.

I like this thing a lot. Also the fact that it's so light and small is a real bonus with all the traveling I do. We'll be in Japan for a month next week, so this (and my cefaly and vaculifter) are three things that will be no problem to bring.

Yep, the water is really important.. LED treatments encourage significant lymphatic drainage, and the water is needed to flush the toxins away.. Also, the treatments can be somewhat drying, so it's always a good thing to be well hydrated.

I've done 4 treatments so far, but haven't really noticed anything except one negative that occurred yesterday.. I did the red light treatment Thursday night including my entire mouth/nl area, and yesterday I had a bunch of tiny blisters on my lips. I'll keep away from the mouth in future. All but one are gone today.

Do you use the serums that came with the device pre and post treatment? Also, do you have any helpful hints on treating the entire face in less than 3 hours? (I am covering every inch, but maybe that isn't necessary.. Confused ).

I would like to treat my neck as well, but I find it next to impossible to hold it there for 20 minutes because it gets very, very hot. Also, it made that skin bright red and quite dehydrated (even though I was well hydrated.)

Pointers are most definitely appreciated.. Very Happy

Kassy - thanks for the info and water - I am like a water baby anyway - but I do feel a little thirsty after after the salon Omnilux - so tend to drink lots afterwards.

I didn't use the products that came with the Omnilux - I have products I like and have used for a while so didn't want to change my routine.

I tend not to treat the whole face - but use this device for areas that need high powered LED treatment - so I would do 2 treatments in one week - forehead 20mins and then laughter lines - I have a stubborn one on the right hand side of my face so - give that a 20 min blast - then follow it in week 2 with IR.

If I want to do a whole face treatment I use my LightStim - and just give the whole face a good 20 min blast.

I tend to think all these devices are emitting the same wavelength and a combination of all them means I am covering all bases plus - the Ominilux never worked for me on the neck either - like you I found it too hot - plus my lips didn't like the heat so I use my Lightstim plus - a great fill in light is the NULASE Laser - http://www.nulase.com/aboutnulase.aspx
This is a great - very high powered - 633nm device you can use on lips - neck - creases around the eyes - I used it with some Vit Serum - and watch the TV and just keep moving around problem areas for about 40 mins.

I have a bubble and squeak approach to anti aging - I through everything in - mix it up and hope it comes looking good!

It seems to be working - my partner doesn't do any of these treatments and he is starting to ask how he can catch up - the trouble he doesn't want to put the time in.

I hope this helps Kassy.

Philip.

*UPDATE*

- I did 7 of the 9 recommended treatments exactly the way instructions dictate.

- It takes more than 3 hours each time to fully treat face + under jaw. (I can't afford the time required to include the neck, and only included it on seperate days twice.)

- I have not used AALS for more than 6 weeks, but have continued with Sm. Face Vaculifter once or twice per week.

- Sorry to tell you, but I have not seen any benefit at all so far.

- Unfortunately, my fairly firm jawline + neck is now on the mushy side again, (much like it was a year or so ago.) My NL area from nose to chin is also more pronounced. I've also had to use oils a little more than usual to combat the dryness I'm experiencing.

The treatment protocol for ONU is for 9 treatments over 4 weeks and then maintenance. It also states that the best results are seen around the 9 week mark. (I know that to be true because that's about how long it takes for new collagen, 2 skin cycles.)

Please keep in mind that I do believe it's my age that is just catching up with me (59), and the natural deterioration of collagen + elastin is winning the race. Also in my experience, the amber + orange wavelengths seem to be what I respond to the best.

I believe this LED would be very beneficial to folks who are younger than 50, and have 3 hour blocks of time to spare a night or two per week.

I also feel that it in no way whatsoever compares with the quality or results of either of my LightStim LED's. It does compare to my OLS (red/infrared) for treatment of pain.

I'll continue with the "O" for a full 8 weeks, with once a week maintenance after the 9th treatment.
