Whenever anyone starts Flexing, I always tell them not to be too hard on themselves at the start. Most people who start off trying to do all 40 exercises plus the massage tire themselves out because of the amount of information they process when reading the book and doing the actual exercises. Usually I recommend people break it down into stages if you like. So initially I advise people to start with the dvd either twice a day, or pausing after the 5th rep and doing another 5. There are a couple mix of exercises on the dvd that will get your results, and its like having Deb there in the room with you doing the results.
Then when they are ready (and for some people this can be weeks, months or even years) I then advise them to break the book down into manageable stages. So maybe beginning with lessons 1-10 for a month, and then adding the next ten and doing 1-20 for another month, and then adding the next ten so you build up to it slowly but surely. It can be quite daunting to look at any thing worthwhile in its entirety but breaking it down into small manageable steps is full proof and gets results. I think combining programs is excellent - but really encourage all out there if they do start a facial exercise program to give themselves plenty of time to really experience the wonders of what it can achieve.
There is nothing in the realm of fitness that really delivers overnight results... it takes work and time, but when you factor these into your plan you get brilliant results and your hard work pays off.

LOL Kassy the dvd is exactly the same. Even now if I sit down to watch it I get "Aha's". The 14 exercises are the dvd are a real mix and so you do end up having a good workout to each major muscle group, but at the time Deb was making it, there just wasn't enough video for her to do all 40, but I know she has been watching the forum and that is in the planning of being made at some point which will be great.
With the 40 exercises in the book, you need to work up to that number, its an eventual goal if you like. Its not that the 14 exercises on the dvd stop working, but you want to really work the muscles to their best ability and sometimes that means shocking it with a different method or tactic. There are also some muscle groups that the dvd that don't get worked (masseter for example) is on that springs to mind and so the book really is a great addition when you are ready. Its an end goal. In the past people would pick and choose the exercises they liked and as a result not each muscle grouping got as much of a challenge and so we really went on a rampage of promoting and telling people to work up to all 40. But if you don't have the time one day, or if you become ill - then take the time off. Your body is already stressed and you don't need the additional stress or guilt of not having done a workout.
