I have blue/green eyes and I've seen no color change or spots, and the photos have helped me realize that as well. |

Kassy,
No to both of your questions - no hairs sprouting on my lids, and no change in eye color. Even though I use my fingers, I'm very careful to put the stuff just on my lashlines, and also not to get any in my eyes. FYI, the eye color change wasn't that common a side effect even in glaucoma patients putting it in their eyes. I've never seen a post from anyone using either the meds or any eyelash growth product based on it seeing a change in eye color.
Blaze,
Some lashes are much longer than others, but I'd say even the shortest are about 1/3 longer than they used to be, and the longest ones are almost double the former length. And I have more lashes than ever.
Skincare,
I was just trying to get back brow hairs I'd lost to over-tweezing, so some of them may have returned naturally, but I think the Lumigan helped. |

Sorry, posted this on the eyelash growth enhancing thread but not this one (I think). After a couple months of nightly use, when I stopped seeing additional growth, I cut back. Took about a week totally off, then went to applying about 3 X per week for maintenance. I've been using for about a year total, and, at least so far, I've maintained my gains on the less-frequent schedule.
I started with short, sparse lashes, and while my lashes even now aren't world-beaters, I love them. Maybe I could have gotten an extra millimeter or two, but I doubt it (I think you get what you get), and I'd rather be safer.
Also, can't remember if I said this, but I apply a lubricant to my lashes (usually olive oil or vaseline) a few nights a week to combat any drying effect of the saline solution in the Lumigan on the hairs. Generally on the off-nights, but sometimes post-Lumigan if I get all my other products onto my face long enough before bedtime. I wait after applying each active to let it sink in before the next thing goes on, so sometimes I poop out in process. |

Just wanted to post this b/c some posters are wary of buying from overseas companies they've never dealt with. Regarding the safety of purchasing with a credit card......Paypal has a service called "Paypal Plug-In" that allows you to generate a one-time use Mastercard for internet purchases. I just started using it to limit exposing my credit card #s. I used it when I bought Lumigan from AllDayChemist and Renova from MedMex as an extra layer of protection. The plug in generates a one-use, virtual MasterCard that debits from your Paypal account. So, if you use a Visa or Mastercard to fund your Paypal account, you should still get the protections those cards offer. I can't comment on whether you'll have protection if you use your bank account to fund your Paypal account, though. |

Do any of you Lumigan devotees wear soft contacts?
I'm wondering if they will become stained or if I will become too sensitive to wear them?
(Sunlight already bothers them, so I wear sunglasses.) |
Fawnie, I wear soft contacts and I haven't had any problems. I don't think enough of it actually gets in my eye to have any effect. I won't delude myself into thinking that NONE of it gets into my eye, because I am sure there is some amount of "migration" but I apply it very carefully with a tiny brush from a craft store, so I think if any of it gets into my eyes, it's a neglible amount. Also, I apply it every other evening before bed, so I can't really say whether or not it would have any effect if I used it during the day while wearing lenses.
thirtyish, how often do you use the Lumigan, and how do you apply it? The very edges of my lids were getting red and irritated when I first started using it (almost 2 months ago). I decided to just back off application to every 3 days or so. This meant I was only applying 2, maybe 3 times a week, but I still saw results and no redness at all. A couple weeks ago I bumped it up to every other day, and I've had no problems since then. I might soon try applying 2 days and taking a break every 3rd, but I don't want to have the massive lash fallout others have had, and I think a key to preventing that is not going crazy with overfrequent application.
Also, how are you applying it? If you're not already doing this, try applying with a q-tip, or a small brush (eyeliner brush, or check out the really small paintbrushes at craft stores)... maybe that will help?
If that doesn't work (or if you're already doing those things), I'm sure it won't hurt to take a break... you can always pick it back up for awhile later on |

Alright, you guys are killing me now with PM's.. I'm giving in and posting pictures again, but it really is against my better judgement..
before Lumigan
after about 7 months (have Ardell on lashes only, which holds the curl all day)
Sorry for the blur in the before picture, I tried for a similar pose, but didn't know how to get the size the same.. |

So some have said that this stuff dries their lashes out and need to supplement it with some sort of oil or moisturizer. I use Emu because I had so much around from using it on my hair. but I'm thinking about getting some castor oil.
Look at this on Makeupalley. It is about castor oil for lash and brow growth. Out of 60 reviews 96% say it works great for this and would keep on using. Out of 60 only TWO were one star (lipstick) 7 were 4 stars and the rest were all 5 stars about the effectiveness to this! I mean one after another saying they have measureable growth on their lashes. Hopefully you don't have to be logged in to view them.
http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/page=2/pagesize=10/ItemID=100766/SortBy=/AgeRange=0/SkinToneType=/ID=/
I heard about it a long time ago but never really heard much more especially after JM and Revitalash came out. Good 'ol Castor Oil.
Maybe this could give the umph some need to get the Lumigan working better. Many have said the Lumigan alone (as opposed to Jan Marini) had not done anything as far as thickness, only length. Most on here notice a big difference with thickness. Maybe that is what JM added to the formula to help with that. Lumigan for length and Castor Oil for thickness. It WILL moisturize and if it has some properties to help with growth, then all the better.
I'm reading the cold pressed is the kind to get. Must be cold pressed which costs a little more.
Anyone else want to add this to the routine? I use rogaine on my brows and have for years. I'm a little afraid to stop and try this. I used the KFG lash & brow product from skinactives a while back and it did nothing and my brows went sparse again.
But anyone else want to experiment? Other things don't work on my brows because I never had many brows. But for those who overplucked it just may work.
Love to hear feedback. |

I have dealt with Indian Pharma for many years in a completely different context. I would trust Careprost every bit as much as Lumigan. It is manufactured by SunPharma and their reputation is excellent. http://www.sunpharma.com/sunpharma-aboutus/history.php |

Well, I'm underwhelmed by my Lumigan experience so far - and contrary to what some people on this thread may think, I am sufficiently impressed by what I read on MUA concerning things like Mavala Double lash, to seriously consider getting a bottle and going 'solo' with that for a month or more!
I'm at 21 weeks + (so, over 5 months) and my growth seems to have remained constant at one centimetre MAX on some lashes, and a bit shorter on the rest.
I have experienced NO discoloration of lids or iris, and no irritation.
Had ONE nasty bout of shedding at week 8 (12 lashes from right eye within 3 days) but nothing else significant since then.
You know what? I wonder if I'm the complete opposite of those of you who've experienced long, long lashes (at ANY point) but have also exerienced frequent shedding bouts as well as hyperpigmentation. I have seriously come to think that I just don't respond very much to bimatoprost, period! What else can I think? And where else can I go to get better growth?
At this stage, it hardly seems worth continuing to face the potential risks connected to Lumigan etc. in order to see whether I can get any further with thickening/lengthening. |

DM, many thanks for those links, I certainly wish I'd read the first link months earlier, it would have explained my 'cold coming on' headaches.
I copied part of the text:
Quote: |
Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using Lumigan Drops:
Changes in eyelash growth; cold symptoms; eye burning, dryness, itching, or redness; feeling of having something in your eye; headache; increased tear production. |
It's been over 2 weeks since I stopped using Lumigan and my headaches and eye-pressure pains are gone.
Lumigan users must be aware of changes in their health and stop using the product for a period to see if their problem is caused by it. |

DM,
did you notice any less shedding while using ecrinal lash? since you're not using it now, i'm assuming it wasn't that great? TIA! after reading reviews i thought it would be a brilliant idea to use as partner with lash serums. now i'm having second thoughts. |
Hey BabyDoll,
It worked as a great conditioner but I found it migrated into my eyes by morning so that's my only reason for discontinuing it. I think it can help prevent shedding but for me personally just like using oils at night my eyes were all coated in the morning and it's a feeling I don't tolerate well. |

Hi Miranda,
It's so interesting how people react to products differently. A person may develop a side effect and another person using the same product in the exact same manner may have no adverse reaction at all. Personally, I applaud you for putting your health and well being first, as disappointed as you probably are.
I feel fortunate that I have been using generic latisse/bimatoprost for a few months with results that I would never have believed possible;and with no side effects at all. I buy it on iOffer ( an alternate online auction site )at quite an inexpensive price
I wonder if this ingredient will find it's place in a future hair growth product. I even put a tiny bit on my eyebrows and they have filled in. Does anyone else use this on their eyebrows ? |
Hi ganesha2u,
If one is not experiencing any side-effects, then I think it would be just about impossible to talk someone out of using Lumigan/latisse as the results are spectacular for almost everyone!
However it's good to be aware of what may seem like unrelated symptoms can be down to bimatoprost. If you've only been using it for a few months, be aware of any changes that may occur in future. And if you're lucky enough to get none, then enjoy your super-long lashes!!
BTW the fact that they haven't used it as a hair growth product actually worries me. Would seem like a no-brainer to do so. |

Thanks Dark Moon.
This is why, sometimes, being cautious about stepping into something new is worht all the anxiety-like sypmtoms...
You have no idea how many times I got excited about something (probably most of us are)
I am glad now I did not jump into Lumigan right away.
Hope everyone else is doing well and, please, no more awful side effects!!!! |
