In my particular case, I don't care much about crow's feet, I care so much about upper lid wrinkles, anything that would do that trick would be for me. I now started putting Clear on the lids, the old looking skin just won't go away and don't know when it will. I can't wait to get the retin A prescription from my doctor so the old skin could shed off immediately.

By the way, is retin A purely used to peel off the old skin with Obagi? Are there other benefits in this case? Thanks

Retin A is not used primarily to exfoliate in the case of Nu Derm...it used to rebuild collagen and elastin under the skin surface. However, in the early stages of RA usage, the top layer of cells are dehydrated and fall off in what is called "false exfoliation" by Dr. Obagi.

I have not heard anything great about Elastiderm...hopefully Rileygirl can weigh in here since I think she has used it.

As far as upper eyelid wrinkles, you are going to have a VERY hard time finding any eye cream that will do that. Relastin is one you may want to try..I did see some lift with that.

However, your best bet will undoubtedly be facial exercises. Those are about the only thing that will save you from upper eyelid surgery. Check out the FlexEffect.com website and look over their before and after pics. Scroll down and you will see tons of links to various sets of pics.

snakebaby - FlexEffect is not a skin care product , it is a system of facial exercises that you do at home. You do not need to attend any classes to do FLexEffect. The cost of a book plus DVD is about $60. FlexEffect targets muscles and tones them. You do need skin care products in addition to FlexEffect.

Oh, also to be honest, the more I learned, the more confused I feel about all the products.

1. If Renova alone works so well as an anti wrinkle product, then why do we have to bother with soooooooooooo many other skincare products? I understand Obagi Nu-derm is different as an example, since it renews your skin which I assume isn't something Renova could do by itself.

2. What is better about OZ than Nu-derm? Can it simply replace Nu-derm?

3. Once I'm done with Nu-derm, can I use something else to replace Nu-derm maintenance products? The only reason I may consider switching to a different line is because the texture of Nu-derm products seems to be thick and dry, more like medicine rather than a regular skincare cream. Also since the maintenance doesn't require you to use Ne-derm everyday, I'd better find something else to use in between yet works same wonders.

4. If FlexEffect really works so well, do we still need all these skin care products?

Anyway, just some of my natural feelings, can't help expressing out see if anyone share the same.

Any ideas would help. Thanks!

1. Renova alone is fine if you don't have any severe hyperpigmentation issues to deal with and are just focusing on fine lines/wrinkles. The difference between Renova and Retin A is Renova has an add moisturizer in it. You can try to use Retin A on your lids very sparingly.

2. ZO is a great skin care line. It does not replace Nu Derm. Nu Derm is a medical line, ZO is sold over the counter. ZO is great to incorporate into your maintenance on Nu Derm (or as a stand alone line if you don't have major issues of hyperpigmentation to deal with).

3. You need to stay on the Nu Derm for maintenance, or you will be right back where you started prior to using Nu Derm. You can use another skin care line on your off days from Nu Derm, and like I mentioned in #2, ZO is great as part of the Nu Derm maintenance. (ZO was created by Obagi).

Hope that helps!

How's your second time around with Obagi after you stopped it as I did? Have you achieved exact same result as you did first time?

My skin is coming along nicely. I am flaking around my chin and neck mostly (which is the area that was dry and flaky the last time around!). I am into week 5 now. My pigmentation is fading nicely. So far, so good!

Don't give up snakebaby. The Nu Derm will give you "new skin". Stick with it for 18 weeks and see how your skin looks (you've already spent the money, might as well use it!). The old, dry look is very normal early in the program, but it will get better! You will be very pleased with your skin. Very Happy

Toby, I'm interested in trying out FlexEffect soon. The site stated they have some videos available for ~$30. They also have a complete set. I wonder whether or not you know a video is good enough for learning how to's? Do you have the complete set with book? Did you find it very helpful that I should order the complete set? Thanks a lot.

snakebaby - I'll chime in on FlexEffect. You are better off getting a complete set, e.g. book AND DVD. DVD contains only a subset of exercises, while the book has all of them. In addition when you get a set, you will be granted access to FlexEffect Members only forum. If you get a book only or DVD only you will not get access to this forum.
