I just read NCN's newsletter and Nanci is now selling the lemon peel bioferment (I believe SAS also sells this). Has anyone used it on their face and did it diminish pigmentation for you?

With a serum, Leggy, you want to use that before the RA. You want to use the thinnest to thickest way of applying things. Don't worry, I have used many things right before I apply my RA and the RA still works just fine.

For anyone that happens to use AHA's daily I emailed Nanci yesterday in regards to my morning use of an AHA cream and she said it was ok to use both applying the LPB first, then the AHA cream....

Good to know!

My LPB should be arriving today so will give it a go tonight with my retin-a....also thinking of trying it out on my forearms as well although I am sure I'll have to order a lot more...it would be nice if she offered this in a larger size....

Riley...I know you got yours yesterday...any initial thoughts on the LPB? How did it go last night?

I'm on this bandwagon too! I placed my order yesterday. I've been having some luck the past couple months using copper peptides on my arm pigmentation, but it has been slow going. I will say that I am very pleased at the tone of my arm skin from the CPs. I will probably alternated the LPB and CPs and see how that goes. Nanci must be getting an onslaught of orders from this thread. Such lemmings we are!

I know I know this is the thread for LPB but you mentioned the CPs toning your arm skin. Meaning? Firmer? Lessening crepey skin or ??? What CP product?
I've heard from some that CPs break down their skin. It is hard to wad through all the experiences and suggestions at times. Smile

I have just posted a reply on the "Skinbiology CP Serum" thread in order to avoid a hijack here. Sorry...I'm not sure how to link you to that thread. Confused

Well, it feels just like water! Laughing I cannot detect any smell at all in the product (I was hoping it would smell like lemons!!) Sinks in almost immediately and doesn't leave any sticky feel. So now the ultimate test, will is work on my sun spots? I'll keep everyone posted!!

Thanks for the update Riley....one more question, what type of bottle is it in? How does it dispense?

It is a glass bottle with a dropper top, so you just squeeze out however much into the dropper. Very easy to dispense. Very Happy

How does this compare with the pumpkin peel?

They are totally different products, funky. The pumpkin peel is a glycolic/lactic/salicylic acid. It is an exfoliator. I think Nanci recommends once a week or so using that product (it actually depends on how much exfoliation you do, and I have even seen her say to use it once a month). I think of that product as a refresher peel (it does not actually cause any peeling of the skin, BTW).

The LPB is for skin lightening, and this is what Nanci says on her website about the LPB: "Lemon peel bioferment uses fermentation as a method to extract valuable chemicals from the peel, releasing them to be used by our skin. Traditionally used to lighten hair and skin, scientific evidence supports the use of lemon as an antioxidant, inhibitor of melanin synthesis, and bactericide. Tyrosinase inhibition is similar to that obtained with hydroquinone.

Lemon peel extract has anti-tyrosinase activity as high as hydroquinone.

Thanks Riley Smile

That's the impression I got when I ordered, that's why I picked the Pumpkin Peel as my sample with the order. I guess what is a bit confusing is the peel in the Lemon Peel is referring to the actual peel of the lemon being what is fermented to make the product. That is my assumption based on the description. Smile

DM

I got the pumpkin peel as my sample too...I think I'll try it tonight or tomorrow!

My guess on that would be lemon oil from the peel, just like any citrus essential oils they are photosensitive and you have to avoid using them in products or oil blends if you are going to be exposed to the sun.

DM thanks so much for the education on Essential Oils (not just in this thread Cool).

WHY are there not warnings on these products or at the very least, an advisory to not wear without serious sun protection? Arghgh!!

This product has lightened significantly some of my dark spots overnight. However! The dark spots I'm referring to exist because I went crazy extracting blackheads (gross, sorry). I've never done this before, because my breakout is hormonal and not something I've ever had to deal with. I didn't realize that doing such would cause melasma to show up! Shock What else is going to go wrong? Laughing

So, that is my disclaimer, as I'm not sure if the dark spots would have lightened up on their own anyhow due to my lack of experience with melasma showing up as a result of extraction.

The melasma I normally have is fairly light already now due to the LED therapy I've been doing of late, so no significant improvement to report on those areas due to LPB.

Melasma does not come from extracting blackheads...you are most likely referring to Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH).

As I said on this I am guessing as the ingredient list does not list lemon oil? I think we might email Nancy at NCN and see what she recommends as to am or pm use?

Hannah from SAS also sells this, and I think the question came up on the forum over there. I believe she did not think the LPB was a problem to use during the day. I'll see if I can find the thread and what she said.

Ok. Here is what Hannah said about the LPB:

"You mean, whether it induces photosensitivity?

An active can be unstable in light but this does not mean that it photosensitizes your skin.

I don't think lemon peel bioferment is a problem at all. Some essential oils can be problematic.

Nanci does recommend that it be used 2x daily...but she of course pushed the suncreen use as well, it's something we all do anyway Laughing

Got my LPB this evening...will start tonight and see what transpires over the next few weeks. I am hoping to get some nice results by the time I am ready to hop on that plane in 36 days! Keeping my fingers crossed Very Happy

Yep, this is Nanci's thought on the LPB: "Lemon peel bioferement is not a skin peel, not an acid and not an essential oil."

She does recommend twice a day use for faster results, and of course as everyone should be doing, she recommends a sunscreen every single day. So there you have it, Hannah and Nanci both agree and have the same thoughts on the matter!

So now we all can pick on Bethany for posting what someone said on another forum, JOKING REALLY JUST JOKING! Smile
I actually feel better that you guys checked it out and found it is fine for daytime use! Smile Smile

DM Smile

I shared hoping that 1) someone would debunk the idea, OR 2) that usage could be clarifed...either is a win-win for me! Very Happy

But if Hannah says daytime usage is fine, I'm good with it!

Time to go put some more on before bed. Night! Very Happy

I thought I would check with Nanci to see how much she recommends using. Thought you all may be interested in this info from her.

"You can just spot treat with it - and not use it over your entire face. It sure will last longer! But it can also be used all over your face and you would want to use enough to just cover your skin..... for some that would be about 1/2 a dropper full and others less, others more..... depends on the size of your face really. A good way to use it is to put a few drops on your forehead, see how far that spreads, then continue with the rest of your face that way until your face is just covered. That way you're not using too much or too little."

I ordered some of this last night as well. The price definitely helps in the decision to put down some funds. Nancy does have some awesome customer service & shipping, loved the detailed instructions that have come in before.

I'm hoping this will help fade my brown acne scars. If not, the concealer still works well. I found that most masks & peels only helped them fade gradually but did help with the overall appearance of the rest of my skin.

Sending good vibes to everyone for success Cool

Got mine in 4 days to Australia! Great shipping.

Used for the first time last night and again this morning. Applying to my face, chest and forearms. Lucky I bought 2 bottles!!!

I also noticed the "pinkness" that Bethany did...a very nice side effect for me.

Will see how we go.

rebecca

Awesome name, if this product works well for most of us, we're going to have add it to the thread title.

I think when it arrives, I will only spot treat, then do treatment full face. I could do with having the flushed cheeks without exercising or blush. Though that just might make me a bit more lazy. Laughing

And the rest of my cheeks look a bit more "blended" (meaning that the diffuse melasma doesn't look as noticeable). That is due in part from the pinkness, so I am going to have to inspect things closely tomorrow in the natural light.

I checked things out today in the daylight, and I am definitely seeing some slight fading.

While fading is fabulous, we also shouldn't overlook the ability of LPB to keep NEW spots from forming due to the inhibition of tyrosinase and melanin synthesis. That means that I am probably going to keep using this on an ongoing basis, even after my existing spots are diminished.

Forget these dinky 1oz bottles...I'm going to need the quart size! Very Happy
