Another potential product to add to the list: Azelac RU--it sounds a bit promising from some of the doctor comments in this article in The Aesthetic Guide as well as non-irritating:
"It is very effective for melasma, and especially for dark skinned patients who have post-inflammatory hyper pigmentation. It's also excellent for my elderly patients who have sun spots and want a quick and easy fix but don't want to spend a lot of money on light-based treatments," she advised. "In addition, Azelac RU is quite effective for young people who want to eliminate freckles and don't have the resources to invest in peels. It starts to work fairly quickly and I usually see improvement within two to three weeks in patients with the darkest skin."
"I recommend Azelac RU to patients with melasma and post traumatic hyperpigmentation, as well as before and after a laser or peel treatment. It affords anti-inflammatory, anti-aging, anti-bacterial and depigmentation effects and makes for a wonderful treatment that is fast and noticeable in just a short time."
"Excellent results with visible improvement in a short period of type typically occur in 80% to 90% of patients. Patients do not suffer from irritated skin; there is significant improvement of spots and in the texture of the skin due to its fantastic anti-aging effects. Its liposome formula and the combination of anti-aging active ingredients firm the skin and bring a glow."

As someone well versed in melasma (I've had it for 8 years now - got it at the onset of meno) I can't even begin to tell you how many lotions, potions, creams, brews, etc. I've tried to rid myself of it - as far as Cosmelan - way back in the day, when my melasma was at its worst - the original Cosmelan formula was the only cream that made a dent in it and gave me my face back - it lightened it like no other product - BUT it was very, very drying and I was constantly having to apply extra hydration... since then, they have changed the formula and from everything I have heard/read it does not work at all anymore.... so I'm not sure if it's the best investment - but everyone's mileage is different. Cosmelan did not stop my melasma from spreading though... still made its trek all over my cheeks down to my jawline...To cover it I use Illuminare mineral makeup - have done so for years - it's the best camoflauge makeup without feeling heavy on my skin... Melasma is baffling - a skin condition that needs to be addressed from the inside out. I don't think any skin product is going to do much without first finding out why your body went out of whack in the first place. A supplement that I have taken religiously that has really helped has been pycnogenol. There are many places that the melasma has broken up and disappeared - especially on the right side of my face. The left side has been far more challenging. |

Turmeric, and sandalwood, are both excellent for removing pigmentation left behind after a spot.
But neither have been effective for me for sun damage.
If you have post -breakout skin that you'd like to brighten and smooth, a good cheap easy thing to do is use auromere ayurvedic mud. It has lots of good stuff in it, not least amla which is really high in vitamin c.
It is a really smoothing, anti inflammatory powder, very reasonable price on iherb. Good mixed with yoghurt or jojoba. |

Uuugh, please don't keep applying more damaging products to your face! It really doesn't sound to me like "scrubbing" your skin, or piling on more harsh products will help peel "bad" layers and uncover good ones. I don't think it works that way.
And I don't mean to disrespect panoslydios but he writes in a very absolute way with a lot of confidence. Perhaps its a cultural/language thing, since I know he's from a foreign country - but we've found that he's most often only tossing ideas out. They are not tried, and proven and many can in fact be dangerous. I've learned this the hard way and honestly believe that there should be a warning on his posts. While castor and jojoba won't do much harm, please research his suggestions before you try any of them.
I don't actually understand the rationale behind this castor/jojoba plastic thing.
I'd recommend that you don't "scrub" your damaged skin with anything, and use the purest products you can find. Read & research the ingredients in whatever baby wash or lotion you want to use. I'd suggest using pure oils to moisturize, or the cerave that everyone here recommends, but that's up to you.
I think using the tretinoin should be more than enough to see good progress, but you MUST use sunscreen EVERY day. You might risk complications using hydroquinone at the same time, so I would put that off for a while, or when you do use it, alternate using it and the tretinoin, every other night. I've also found that hydroquinone worked best for me when I used for a couple of months, then stopped for a couple, then started again. But remember, SUNSCREEN.
I don't know anything about hydrocortizone, not sure why that'd be necessary. Good luck. |

Your post is dangerous since many sunscreens have thyroid killing chemicals.Applying thyroid killing chemicals everyday is not wise.
I suggest for pigmentation OCM and correct healing(diet:liquidarian/pranarian/fruitarian raw2),pure Sun,safflower oil/AVOCADO and many more)
Let me educate you about the jojoba castor and plastic covering. Those oils will break the milia hard covering that the user here is dealing with.By covering with something you cut the oxygen from the skin .Then your whole body will try to disturb oxygen to this area and increase blood flow there so the fibrous tissues, blackhead etc will break out.
You suggest chemicals i suggest Nature. |
Hi Panoslydios, can I ask how many things you recommend that you yourself have actually done/tried. I know you recommend the 40 day OJ fast but haven't done it yourself. This is a fairly radical thing to recommend if you have no first hand experience. You say it cures scars which is one of the issues you have. I would think if it actually worked you would have tried it already.
How many of the diets that you mention above have you tried and what were your results?
Have you tried the jojoba/castor oil with plastic over it? Did it work for blackheads or milia?
How did the iodine experiment you were doing and recommending awhile ago work out?
I think it is important to follow up with your results on different things that we recommend. |

Panos...get with the programme here. The point is you emphatically recommend stuff which you havent road tested and also is way too unrealistic.
You recommend becoming a pranarian, without even telling people what that is, and you know perfectly well nobody us going to read your words and say "yes, that is convincing! I'm going to become a pranarian, now!"
Have a look at the context of your comments.
Two things going on here :
your feet and the ground
Time to introduce the two things. |

Panos,
"feeling better" didn't answer her questions.
"Iodine works" didn't answer her questions.
"Castor/jojoba works" didn't answer her questions.
And you can't do the 40 day juice fast because you're "skinny". But you've said adamantly several times that everyone else here should, without qualifying it even with that warning of a danger to health that you're fully aware of.
Your posts are no longer thought provoking. They're dangerous, and the equivalent of spam. I really hope the mods are taking all this into consideration. |

Panos,
Why are your personal experiences more valid than others' personal experiences.
There have been others here who have tried various forms of veganism and/or raw, and/or blah, blah ... And have told you they feel better on a more balanced diet.
Why can you not accept their personal experiences?
How does your need for color (and I get *lots* of colors in my diet!) extrapolate to others? |
