Many people build up a tolerance to hydroquinone (HQ) and now even Dr. Obagi recommends using it for only a few months at a time. He also says long term HQ use can cause even worse pigmentation.
Obagi NuDerm stopped working for me after 8 months and I now have a patch of melasma which didn't exist before NuDerm. Because of this I am now using azaleic acid (Skinoren brand) in the AM and mixed with 0.1% tretinoin cream in the PM - this is considered to have better effect than 2% HQ and almost equivalent to 4% HQ.
I also just started trying The History of Whoo Seol line, which seems pretty good so far (meaning my melasma hasn't gotten worse). |
