Are you referring to scally's soon to be released EDSY* award winning film or the rip of the LH DVD? If it is the latter, IM me for the download directions.
*An EDSY is something I just made up as our version of an Oscar or an Emmy. This year's nominees are Scalawaggirl and, er, Scalawaggirl. Scally, I am going to take your MMU tutorial and add the grand sweeping score it deserves. Or maybe something sexy. Oh hell, maybe I'll just write an orginal song, so I can win an EDSY too. |
Pachouli, you're killinmg me! I'll see, if I can squeeze it in today so not sure on the EDSY quality as it will be an independent production on a very low budget. |

Got my face disk today! Actually, I wasn't expecting it until next week so that was a nice surprise. I also bought the brushes even though I have loads but I like the option of taking this with me when traveling for touch ups so I can leave most of my other ones at home from now on.
I did my face as a test and followed the card since I watched the video once already. They did send the VHS, BTW, but it's not a problem for me as I have the video on my computer, as well. The official verdict is that I LOVE it! Wow! This is exactly as Lauren points out during the demonstration - the shadow is light but does a fantastic job and the concealer is superb, I mean, really wonderful and sheer but covers (weird, I know). I did not test with foundation just to see the effect and it looked great; however, I am sure it will look just as good with a light dusting of my LM MMU. I am very impressed and now wondering, if she carries the blush in a little applicator along with the balm for touch ups without opening the disk... |
I am so happy that you like the Disk . Can't wait until you do your presentation. Sorry...I am not pressuring you.
There are few products I use for years. The Face Disk is going on three years for me. LOVE IT!!!!! |

I am on the verge of jumping onto the LH bandwagon, but I have a big question before ordering anything.
Obviously blush and eyeliner would require brushes, but my understanding is that LH instructs users that if they prefer, they can use their fingers to apply the product in the disk.
But I've also read some negative reviews elswhere regarding things like her concealers, so I imagine that success can vary in their use, and it might depend on the method of application.
So:
How important are her brushes, or any brushes, to successful use of the products in the disk?
Thanks in advance. |

I think using brushes would be best. Maybe not so important for the lip balm (she actually recommends fingers here) and possibly sheer concealer, but most everything else would be better with a brush. JMO |

Agreed and I also wanted to add that it's the same with any makeup - better and more precise application with brushes so I'd recommend using them. You don't have to use her's, if you've already got ones you like. |

Thank you both. Winnie, let us know if you agree.
I like the color-coded idea alot -- one could almost go on autopilot that way after awhile. And scallawaggirl, you mentioned the appeal of having a set to just grab with you when you travel. I just worry that it might mean more clutter and more stuff for me to misplace (gotta work on that!). |

I didn't think I needed more brushes when I ordered the face disk but I did get the brushes & they are my favorite brushes for using with or without the face disk. The eye liner brush is the only one I have ever used with a good result. |

It's a cool device and I am not feeling pressured! Here's a before/after and also - the new "Scalawaggirl's Having Fun with Makeup" video, which is split into three parts in order to upload to Photobucket. Here's the first and I'll post the other two as they upload. You will have to copy and paste the link because it's not working for some reason from a direct click:

AWESOME VIDEO, SCALLY!!!
Okay, this thread convinced me. I ordered the face disc kit from Lauren Hutton's website. It is coming with the brushes, a dvd and some other freebies. I think this will come in perfect on race day when I don't want to wear a full face, but just want to cover up a few spots. Then on days I'm with clients or inthe office, I'll use a light dusking of MMU over everything. |

Frodo, first just select the whole link and then copy it into a new window or tab in your internet browser. It will take you directly to the Photobucket site and will play right inside a window there. For some odd reason, my link is not automatically redirecting when clicked so this is a workaround. Hope that helps. |

You make such great watchable videos, scaly. Thanks a lot!
Although I'm not 40 yet, I'm fast approaching. I've decided to try this out. I've tried other make-up kits (alexis voguel is the only one I can think of atm) with not so good results. I guess I'm just bad at applying make-up.
So, I've been trying the LH website for the past 20 minutes. No luck with the check-out. You must have convinced many, not just me. |

scalawaggirl,
I am speechless!! I knew you did great before and afters but never knew you would have such WONDERFUL stage presence. You did an absolutely fantastic job demonstration the Face Disc...not to mention you look stunning.
Ladies don't you think Scala should send the video to Lauren Hutton? I actually think you could be hired by Lauren.
Scala, thank you so much for taking the time to make this video for us EDS gals. I am sure everyone will agree "you are appreciated.

If you have tons of brushes and are use to contouring I would say you would be OK without the purchase of LH's brushes. However, the brushes are made especially for the Disk. The Disk and brushes are both color coded so it makes application so easy.
When I first purchased the Face Disk I was not that impressed with the brushes. After almost three years I consider them work horses. I have not had to replace them. I don't think you would regret purchasing the brushes. Surely it is a little less expensive to get them while buying the Disk. |

Winnie, I'm so glad you liked it! You made me smile but I'm pretty much a ham and have been speaking in front of people so long that it doesn't phase me at all...unlike my mother-in-law who totally went blank in front of the camera...poor thing.
Marla, banging head here. Thanks and glad to help!
BluesHeart, I love my L2K and keep it on because my lips feel so good and have definitely come a long way! I know you can get the Trio to try out the concealer but I don't think it has the spot treatments. It might be easier to just get a disc since you will use it, I promise. |

Scalawaggirl
That is a great video and I am sold on the LH disk - I had been hesitating until now. One question I have to ask is - what nail enamel are you wearing? Your LH results are gorgeous (and you're right, it does look very natural) but so is your manicure! |

EDS has definitely turned me into a lemming. I got the LH face disc (in pink) yesterday. Got a pretty good deal on a new, sealed disc (minus brushes), along with the DVD, on eBay.
After a couple days of playing with the disc, I can report that I like it a lot. The spot concealers are great, do a good job of concealing my broken caps and occasional zits. It sets well, stays put, and looks natural.
My favorite pot is the sheer concealer. I do believe that stuff is magic. It seems practically transparent when you put it on, but somehow it manages to both conceal and add light to those areas of the face that need more light. Looks fabulous around my undereyes, in the dark inside corners, and the outside corners where my skin is thinner and needs a little "lift". I put a dab under my lower lip, on my nasolabials, as well as around and under my nose. Wonderful! It just brightens up my whole face.
The contour powder is perfect for me. I've never had much success with contouring because it always "shows". The LH contour powder is both well pigmented and very light. I have a very round, moonpie face, and the contour powder really gives it definition without looking like I just painted on a bunch of brown junk.
Special mention for the blush and the wet/dry eyeliner. I normally don't use blush because it just never looks quite natural on me. This blush looks just right, both in color and subtlety. The eyeliner was a surprise, because I've always used black eyeliner. After using the LH eyeliner, which is a dark brown, it became apparent that I should've switched from black to brown as I got older. Who knew?
Overall, there's not one product in the disc that I don't like or won't use. Add a little mascara and a light dusting of the Laura Mercier MMU and I'm good to go. For those girls that like a lot of color, drama and pigment, this probably wouldn't be for you. If you like a more natural look, or if your more mature, like me, and think your makeup might need a little update, this disc would be hard to beat!
scalawaggirl, your video is adorable! Thanks for making that for all of us. I agree, you deserve an EDSey for that. |

Dokusan, I do my own manicures/pedicures and I use Trind and Barielle products - both highly recommended. What I was wearing is a base coat of Barielle Natural Camoflauge, then 2 coats of OPI You Rock-Apulco Red, then Trind's Top Coat. Prior to the actual coatings, though, I used Trind's Nail Balsam and after I was done, I put on the Cuticle Balsam to keep them looking fresh and not dry. HTH!
Lonevoice, sounds like you and I have exactly the same opinions of the LH products! It's good to know that you've experienced the same things as I did. Thanks re: the video, too!
Catski, there's a bug I believe in EDS so when you click on the link, it removes part of the code. If you copy the whole thing, then paste it in your address bar, it will take you to the photobucket site and start playing the video - it is in three parts due to size.

I have to confess that I was only ever so slightly interested in seeing how the LH Face Disk works, but really watched out of curiosity to see our Scally in action.
Now I flaming HAVE to buy the blummin' thing!!!!!!!!
Scally, in all seriousness, you are a natural in front of the camera. You have a great speaking voice too and were able to carry the whole presentation through without stumbling at all. I can just imagine you on QVC, initiating product stampedes and sell-outs in seconds.
Wish I could carry off something like this!
Thanks for taking the time to do this. |
