A little funny for you.....I had cataract surgery a few days ago. As the nurse in the OR was prepping that eye for surgery, she asked me if I had glaucoma, and I said no, (I kinda knew what she was going to say next!) She said "your eyelashes are amazing, I thought maybe you used glaucoma drops!". I confessed to her what I had been using for my lashes...She said she had tried to use it but it made her lids very itchy & could not. |

I'm having to keep my hair tied back at night, else when I wake up, there are strands tangled in my eyelashes. LOVING this! |

10 week update! Results are better than I could have ever hoped, and to think that they will get longer - I'm quite swept away! LOL
My eyebrows responded very well - the hairs themselves are much thicker, and also darker, almost too dark but not quite. The sparse areas that I had from overplucking are gone. I am very pleased with the results on my eyebrows.
My lashes are FANTASTIC. I use an eyeliner pencil on the top inner lid, and use an eyelash comb to put a thin layer of waterproof mascara. WOW - looks really lush. However, I still hate wearing mascara and am going to try dyeing them - fingers crossed that I won't screw it up and look like a raccoon! I'll wait for the 12th week to use the dye though, they might still all fall out! LOL |

Wowwwww!!! That's really amazing!!! I hope my eyelashes will grow longer and thicker too. It's just too good to be true hearing all these amazing stories about Careprost! I also heard that the upper eyelids tend to get pinkish, is that true? I just bought mine yesterday from lifetime lashes for $30 which has free applicators and free shipping in US. I can't wait to get my Careprost and start my own journal too!!!! I have green eyes so I'm just a little afraid that it might change its color. Any thoughts guys?

I've got a rim around my eyes now of darker skin - kind of like my mascara has smudged a bit. I don't mind it, it covers up well and doesn't really look bad. In fact, I think it gives my eyes more definition without makeup.
Don't worry about color change - just be careful not to get it IN your eyes. I have blue eyes and haven't had any problems. |

Is there anyone reading this who Careprost/Lastisse didn't work for? I've used it on and off for several years. It's been so long now I don't quite remember but I think I had some results in the beginning, although not great results. The real test will be in about a week when I will have my eyelash extensions removed. I think my real lashes will be a sad pathetic version of what they once were even though it's only been a couple months that the extensions have been on. My after lashes never looked anything like those on the lifetime lashes site. Has anyone here had those kind of results? Also, I haven't used Careprost while having the extensions and my lids are still pink. It never went away. |

I've been using Careprost for about 8 weeks. I use a fine size "0" art brush to apply it and one drop does both lash lines. I'm impressed with the length of the lashes (1/2"), and I do see some thickening, but I was hoping for more. Maybe because I'm not at the full 16 weeks yet? If I curl the full length they look kinda ridiculous, like cartoony kewpie-doll eyelashes, so I have to just curl partway up the lash in small increments; I still have not found my Holy Grail curler that provides a gentle, lasting upward curl instead of crimping a bend in the lash.
I apply this several hours before going to bed. No eye irritation or color change or crustiness in the morning, though there is the reddening of the skin where I use the Careprost. It's easy to cover up as I generally wear a bit of neutral brown smudged above the lashline.
I also put Careprost on a sparse eyebrow area, and yes there are hairs coming in there! Pretty cool. |

I've used it on and off and it really is amazing. One of the few products where I get visible results in a few weeks, if I remain patient.
This time around, something new happened. Not only do I get longer upper lashes, but now my lower lashes are also really a lot longer too...I am not exactly complaining, but the mascara spider tracks are much more noticeable. I really need to be more careful now with mascara - it's dramatic.

I haven't even tried mascara yet, I'm probably going to use the 1,000Hour Lashes dye which I've had good results from in the past. Are you using Careprost on the lower lashes? (I'm not) |

Questions for you long-time users: what's the ongoing cost associated with getting addicted to these eyelash products?
If you stop you lose all your gains, correct?
Also, my eyelids are fairly sensitive already. I see some people suffer irritation. For you people who have suffered irritation: were your eyelids already sensitive? How badly irritating are these products?
I'm about ready to jump on this (always wanted great lashes and never had them) but am leery of getting myself into yet another product I must use in perpetuity. Plus am leery about my already-sensitive eyelids.
Any input appreciated. |

I bought mine at inhousepharmacy.biz, and paid $30, including shipping. One bottle lasted a little over 3 months.
I haven't experienced any irritation; some do. The only way for you to find out is to try it. |

Immacolata, thanks! What brand did you get? I've tried much more expensive stuff that had less anecdotal proof of results...for that price I can def. afford to try this! |

I bought Careprost. It didn't come with an eyeliner brush, so I bought a pack of disposable brushes from Amazon. |

Yubs, Careprost is generally $30US plus shipping. It's the same product as Latisse. If you trust alldaychemist.com, it's only $10US there per bottle but their standard shipping fee is $25. It still averages out pretty well if you buy multiple bottles.
I'm still on my first bottle at 2+ months and once you get the length you want you cut back to 2x a week. I squeeze out one drop onto the concave tip of the cap, and use that drop to dip my brush into. One drop is enough for both lid lines and any eyebrow area I'm working on.
As far as irritation, apply it at least an hour before going to sleep, that seems to work for many users for some reason.
And yes if you stop using it, when new lashes grow in they will only grow to their original length. |

Thanks, Chocolat.
So now I'm worried about lid discoloration. Someone showed me a study from PubMed that showed up to 60% incidence of eyelid discoloration with some of these products. Sometimes it can be permanent. I've had a history of being in that "unlucky 25%" of the population that stuff happens to (with women's hairloss, also hearing loss, etc.) so perhaps pay more attention to the incidence of sides than others, if I know about them in advance.
I noticed that thirtyish had some discoloration that hasn't gone away, and Immacolata also, although she's not unhappy with hers.
Anyone else getting skin/lid discoloration with these products? |

I used Careprost (from All Day Chemist-never had any problems buying there). I did get some discoloration along lash line but it never bothered me -kind of looked like light eyeliner. It's gone now. No problems with eye color changing.
I never saw stats as high as what you saw Yubs for iris color change. I always thought it was low: 5% and of course only light eyes. I agree, 60% really makes you think.
All Day Chemist is where I get some Rx antibiotics, retin-A and Careprost. They also carry hormones (Estriol maybe and progesterone - not sure). Prices for retin-A and Careprost are fab. With a good order - the $25 ship is worth it. I don't know what in-house charges to ship. Maybe someone will chime in.
Warning:
ADC also sells generic ------------------ and Cialis as evidenced by massive follow up emails... You get tagged! I think they sell your email. If you order you may want to use a junk email address that you don't really need to avoid being inundated. I'm still getting them. |

Ran out... Life got in the way. Forgot to get more...
I went on ADC's site last week and they have my email on record but had reorganized their site and said they would send my "new" password.. Never heard from them. So I sent a request again.. and again....nothing. I can't use my old email because of 'no' password. Anyway I need to get on - set up with a new email (whatever!) and start over. Yes. They are disorganized. It's in India and they have tried to make their new site American in appearance.
I will be getting more (probably 4-5 containers) and am going to try Retin A again and I usually look around the site for whatever else I might need ... the prices are outstanding. Hey Yubs if we lived close we could combine orders. |

I have been following this thread as part of my "research" of Careprost (TY Sandooch), and can now give you all my take on it = a true success story from a 40-something gal
Background info~ I always had good lashes in my 20's and 30's. Not super thick, nor super long, but looked lush with 2 coats of mascara and a lash curler. I have noticed over the last 4 years or so, my lashes have thinned, and even with mascara, look pretty skimpy. They are very light brown to begin with - and without mascara look almost non-existent. Three years ago, I decided to no longer live my lash-life vicariously through my children's gorgeous lashes, and do something about my vanishing ones!
I initially used Latisse as my lash "drug of choice", and it worked GREAT..but at $100 a bottle, was an expensive habit. Once I ran out, I allowed my lashes to go back to normal, and all was okay for a while...
That was until I entered a surgically-induced menopause. About a year after that, I noticed a more dramatic change in my poor lashes - def thinner and lighter, pretty pathetic even with mascara. After considering lash-extensions, I quickly un-considered them since they would require way too much maintenance, and I was afraid to ruin what I had.
I purchased 2 bottles of Careprost for $60 and have just finished with my 1st bottle. It has now been 13 weeks, and my lashes look GREAT! I use one drop a day, applied in the morning after my shower and before I put on my daily makeup. First I place one drop of solution into the indent on the cap. Then I use a thin nail art brush that I purchased at Sephora to place the solution on each upper lid, then *blink* (so some gets onto the lower lash line), and any left over gets spread onto my eyebrows (which are fine, but why waste it?) I wash the cap and brush with anti-bacterial soap every day, and with an alcohol swab once a week to keep them germ-free. I was able to use one bottle for 13 weeks using this technique.
My lashes are def longer and def a bit darker in color. I cannot say that they are much "thicker", because I don't think the Careprost actually widens the shaft of the lash, but because there seems to be more lashes overall, they appear fuller. It is noticeable without mascara, and when I put on even 1 coat, people have commented on them and even asked if I had extensions placed. I have brown eyes, and did not see them get any "browner" with the Latisse or the Careprost, nor did I experience any darkening of my eyelid. My bottom lashes have grown in length as well.
My thoughts on the use of these prostaglandin-type solutions for eyelash growth are: be patient, be realistic, and do not expect fast miracles. I never had lashes that looked like "fringe" in the first place, and while it would have been great to have them grow into something that never needed enhancing with mascara, that will not happen with me. Just like everyone has different hair texture on their heads, no one has the same exact eyelashes either. One gal might get such great results that she has to trim her lashes as they grew so long, while another was lucky to just see some added length. I am thrilled with the results that I achieved in 13 weeks - and honestly can say that I noticed a big difference in about 8 weeks. I will continue to use Careprost for as long as it is deemed safe. I figure I will still use it daily for another 3 weeks, then switch to every third day for lash maintenance. Using my method should be a $100 per year or so cost. Very worth it to me to have lashes that look so pretty and long, and without damaging my natural lashes with extensions and harsh glues. While they still do not look like my DD14's lashes, they look pretty darn good for a 40-something gal |

So today I got my first (maybe only!) compliment on my eyelashes. I was getting acupuncture and was asked "are those your natural lashes or do you do something to them? Do you use Latisse?" I briefly thought of fibbing but then said "not Latisse, but yes I use something." She told me they were "just lovely," then asked me what I used, and if I had side effects, and if my eyes had changed color ... so even though the acupuncturist is definitely in the organic foods/healthy natural living/alternative medicine frame of mind, she knew about Latisse and the side effects since she must have looked into it. I felt kind of like a fraud about saying I used it since I'm also in that frame of mind, but I guess inconsistency is a hallmark of human nature. At least, that's my rationalization for today! |

This sounds like an interesting product and the price is sure a lot better than the Latisse. The only concern I would have is the eye color change...I don't know if it's worth the risk given the high statistics. I wonder if there are any natural products that would accomplish the same thing...anyone know |

It's not 60% IRIS color change, it's 60% EYELID discoloration - and it's just not that bad. One swipe of the foundation sponge over my eyelids and it's gone.
I have light blue eyes - no iris color change.
Also, given the problems (spam, etc.) with ADC, I don't understand why some still use and recommend them. I highly recommend inhousepharmacy.biz. Their prices are right, shipping is fast, and I don't get any spam at all from them. |

Aprile, Never Over The Hill Cosmetics (at that name dot com) does have a natural eyelash growth serum that looks like it is currently being reformulated. I have their previous formulation, and have used it by itself with some results, but nothing like with Careprost. I use it now in the morning, and Careprost in the evening. Unfortunately their website does not list the ingredients so you'd have to e-mail them to get that.
Also in the DIY recipes on EDS, there is an eyelash serum based on horsetail herb and lecithin that I made before (posted by former EDS'er Carekate) and used in the past with a little results, but nothing again like Careprost.

aprile or anyone who has trepidation about buying Careprost. I have no need to convert anyone ... still here is my take. I have used Careprost with very noticeable results. Your eyelashes are so long that you are in disbelief.
I have not used this for probably a year but am ready to try again. I buy from ADC... I know some don't agree with ADC but I've not had a problem ..Sure hope that continues.
Careprost at 11 or 12 dollars a container is amazing.
I doubt the Noth (neveroverthehill) product has made a difference. There were a few here who liked it but not enought to keep it going. The good was that it was more or less natural. The not-so-good may have been the lack of effectiveness over long term. Never used it so I can't say for certain. |
