I've been using the Murad exfoliating acne treatment and it's cleared up my skin. It's really expensive but it works. |

There is a great little device called Derma style, which eliminates acne. I use it and noticed a difference. I no longer have acne. I also use the oxygen mask from Bliss, which makes my skin happy. The important thing is not to put too much crap on it, because that will irritate the face. Keep moisturizing, is also important. I use Burts Bees lemon poppy scrub (which is not really a scrub) and I noticed that my skin really responds to that due to the thin layer of moisture it leaves on my face, so my face is glowing with health. Amazing stuff.... |

The only product that I have had success with for my acne is from a company called Sage. Their Miracle Zit cream works beautifully for me.
You can find them on the web under zerozits. |

I feel your pain! I am 24 years old and have suffered from acne since my teenage years. It's such a self esteem crusher. I have actually had people tell me I could be a model if my skin wasn't so bad. I have tried so many "solutions" but there is good news. For me personally I can say having experimented so much I know what to avoid and what to do for results.
First, drink a ton of water! It helps your body in general and does wonders for your skin.
My topical regime is this...
*Mary Kay spot treatment 5% benzoyl peroxide (a small dab that I spread all over my face), followed by *AVON Ageless Results Day Cream, then a light dusting of *Bare Escentuals Blemish Therapy loose powder. I will warn that this may make your face very dry at first. So you can begin with just treating the acne itself with the powder. It comes with a tiny concealer brush for application anyhow. My face has show a dramatic improvement in the number and severity of my breakouts and the day cream has helped fade old scars and prevent new ones from forming. It contains sunscreen. Which is another thing I recommend if you have acne because scarring is so hard to combat. Lastly I have to say that exfoliation is very important. Don't overdo it! I would exfoliate every other day with a gentle scrub to keep pores free of dead skin which can clog them causing new acne to form.
Hope I was of some help. It's an ongoing battle for me and I am not giving up! |

To AGA, You should try Retin-A gel. It's by prescription only. This stuff really works miracles. I would not use anything else. Also try Olay products. While their products are designed for all skin types. I can guarantee you that none of them will ever make your skin break out. I use them all the time. |

I think your skin is irritating. You should stop using any skincare until your skin is strenthen and then use skincare again.
For the weak skin, I think BHA is very great for it. |

Ive been through it, trying new things that just make everything MUCH worse... Ive tried LOTS of products, but I always end up back at Proactiv. Its like my home base. When I try something new I always end up going back to it. Its not exactly like the commercials say, but it definitely does do a good job! It keeps your pimples to a definite minimum and unless i get sunburned or something along those lines- my skin doesnt get dried out.
Its costly but definitely worth it! |

Well in my experienced I've made an appointment to a derma that way they can check what type of skin you have and can prescribe a proper med which will be best for your skin..
Just make sure that you go to a derma that has reputation..
I hope your skin breakouts will soon clear up.. |

I went through years of useless treatments from the doctors until I finally was referred to the dermatologist who gave me I think it was called Roacutane / isotretinoin or something (google isotretinoin - it's made by Roche). Proper acne is overactive grease glands and caused by hormone inbalance, no amount of washing or lotions or creams will help except frustrate you and prolong the embarrassment. Save youself the pain and go straight for this stuff. I had the strong one, but I think there's a weaker one too. You can't take it while preggers though it's strong stuff! Good luck. |

It's called accutane/roaccutane. The active ingredient is isotretinoin, which is a derivative of Vitamin A. I have to disagree with your suggestion that everyone should just "go straight for this stuff." Instead, I think this medication should be reserved as a last resort because it is extremely toxic to the body. There are also a number of side effects that can come from it. I agree that it is a very effective treatment for acne, but only if the person can tolerate such a violent drug.
There are other ways to treat acne, like exfoliation, proper cleansing and avoiding irritating ingredients. I think people should try topical ingredients as best as they can and then consult a dermatologist for this drug. |

That is good if you can take it- some people due to other health issues or allergies or whatever they can not use that.
I just went to a derm/cosmetic skin clinic (located in a hospital...but you have to pay for the consultation ect), and for my skin I was reccomended the PCA line and also Skin TX and told to use a glycolic or antibacterial cleanser 2x a day.
I doubt that would change much for me as I am already using good products and just have 1 or 2 blemishes. |

Accutane is a chemotherapy drug, you really want to do your research before going on it. I used it twice as a teen, got adult acne in late 20s after a decade of veganism. Acne appears to be a condition influenced by genetics, hormones & diet which modulates the endocrine system. You will want to do some reading in order to better understand what's causing your acne. I recommend It's My Ovaries Stupid by Elizabeth Vliet & The Shwarzbein Principle by Diana Shwarzbein. Rodan & Fields the ProActive deems have also written a book on acne. As for skincare, use a salicylic acid wash like orange Neutrogena or Retin-a or alternate both. Your acne may be cosmetically aggravated but there has to be an underlying health related cause so address that first. |

Hi! I found the Obagi nuderm system really worked for me. It gave me great skin.
But now that I am off the system I am back to the same problem.
The system works great to help clear your skin and give you smooth skin but I haven't been able to maintain it once I finish the sytem. |

Acne is so frustrating and I really feel for anyone who has it as I had it for a number of years. What worked for me is making sure I get enough vitamins and minerals (i always ate a healthy vegetarian diet but was lacking in B complex and Vitamin C especially, as well as minerals)Zinc is often lacking in the acne prone too.
Don't pick or squeeze and please don't stress. There's a free treatment that you can do now, it's urine therapy. I've added a link here to show that it's not just me, others have had success with it too. I found this therapy great for cystic acne (I only had 2 but boy were they stubborn! )
I hope this doesn't offend or repel anyone too much but look at it this way, it's natural, it's free and also urine/extract of urine is the ingredient in so many medicines and creams.

Best of luck |

HI, My hormones were the culprit (I was scrupulous regarding skincare) and I had absolutely rotten periods to boot. After consulting a naturopath who advised me what vitamins I need to increase (as well as to stick to low GI foods when possible) I found my periods improved, my pmt did (much to my husband's joy and whadd'ya know, so did my skin.
The urine therapy is something I discovered after my naturopath consultation and it is worth trying as it works (you don't have to tell anyone ) |
