Gee, that seems to be the consensus of the last six pages of reviews.
Can you share your experience? Do you use Devita and can provide input? |

Devita sunscreens are probably my favorite "natural" sunscreens, they are never greasy or sticky, or drying. Just nice dewy finish, both on bare skin and on top of my moisturizer. Never any whiteness or milky cast on skin, not even slightest hint of unnatural pigment. Usually very expensive mineral sunscreens for Asian market are this transparent and light on skin, but Devita has much friendlier prices. Very easy to reapply since there are no color issues and no problem with multiple layers. Very skin friendly, doesn't irritate or clog pores - something I often encounter with other "natural" and oil-heavy zinc sunscreens. Scent is bearable as well. It only stings if it migrates into eyes, but quite a few derms claim that ordinary sunscreens aren't designed to be used around eyes anyway, so it's no wonder that uncoated mineral particles in Devita make eyes water upon contact. Other than that I find it makes skin look nicer with a couple months of daily use, at first I thought the luminosity was due to zinc particle reflections, but that effect lasts even after sunscreen removal, so it has to be something else, perhaps the aloe they use.
Body sunscreen is great as well, doesn't leave zinc marks on dark clothes and oily spots on surfaces I touch, it's amazing. Best ever! Some nice "active" ingredients in there as well. I don't mind the retinol in body sunscreen either, personally I would prefer beta-carotene in there instead, but I'm fine with retinol. Not enough real proof that it's bad, despite what those alarmist quacks over at EWG claim.
Protection is sufficient with both sunscreens, they hold up against sun in summer heat and in winter while skiing. Some people say it makes them darken, I'm not sure why, maybe their skin greasy or they don't reapply, or something else. I'm happy they work for me! |

I used to use Devita face sunscreen (tried the body and something in it consistently broke me out!) and, although I like Devita, I like Eco Logical face and Pratima Neem better.
They both feel like they protect better. Pratima goes on a bit more shiny (no oils in it, though!)and is more economical and Eco Logical smells odd but the texture is amazing and it really protects (I add a drop of Hauschka bronzing fluid to tint it a bit). |

I absolutely love the Devita body sun screen. It kept my very fair skin burn free & I didn't end up with a heat rash.
I do like the face sunscreen as well, but if I am going to be sitting in the sun (ie at daughter's soccer games), I find Osmosis' Shelter protects my skin more. If I am not going to be in the direct sun for a long time than I prefer the Devita sunscreen. While I think the Shelter provides better protection, I find it a little thick for daily use. |

I am so glad Devita is working out for so many of you. For some reason, I find it to be horrible for my extremely oily skin (during the summer). It makes my skin very oily and I have to blot a lot more than I normally do. I think this is great for the dry to normal crowd though. |

True, it's not a perfect sunscreen for oilier skins.
Perhaps Topix Glycolix Elite SPF 30 or Burnout Clean & Clear Eco-Sensitive SPF 32 sunscreens are worth trying, they are more matte than Devita. Unfortunately they both leave a slight milky white cast on skin, it's not too obvious, but it's there. |

Time, you have really convinced me that I need to try Devita SS lol I am using Shelter on my face and really I'm fine with it but I do like these Devita hypes
I like a creamy moisturizer type of feel so I'm wondering whether I buy the face or body to use on my face. Some people have commented about it having a gel/cream feel - not so sure if that will work for me under foundation because gel type feeling products often 'bead' under foundation? Any tips? |

Thanks Jazzi for the suggestions! Burnout is still a bit oily for me, but is still pretty good. I am off to try the Topix Glycolix Elite SPF 30. |

I agree with everything jazzi said, I love Devita! And having looked through the ingredients, I feel really good putting it on my skin too. I have oily skin - and yes, in the summer heat my t-zone has been an oil slick, but I think this would have been the case with or without - I really don't think its anything to do with the Devita, but with the temperatures! It really does drink right into my skin, and not leave any cast or oily residue - and for me with oily, brown skin to say that, its gotta be amazing.
I like both the moisturizer & the body lotion. I use the body lotion on my face since I don't normally wear moisturizer, so I'm saving that for winter.
Glamcat. you might prefer the moisturizer which I guess is richer, but both of them drink right in for me, so I doubt there'd be any residue to worry about with either messing up your foundation. Its extremely light... one of the loveliest products I put on my skin, actually, (since I tend to focus on simple "workhorse" products, and not sophisticated formulations.) |

I do find the Shelter gives better protection if you were going to be sitting out in the sun for any length of time, but for everyday use I prefer the Devita. I always use a primer underneath my foundation, so I haven't had a problem with either under foundation. My skin is really dry though. While I do get some oil in the t-zone (especially during the hot weather) it is nowhere near what you would call oily.
I find the Devita soaks in really quickly and it is light. In fact, it is so light that I still use Quench (Osmosis) underneath it. It wouldn't be enough on its own for me.

Do you mean that you use this Devita, Solar Body Block, SPF 30+, 7 oz (210 ml) on your face?

Yes, that's what I use.
I should mention that I go to great lengths to avoid direct sunlight, most especially on my face. While I'm a fan of the Devita, its not because I believe it gives me foolproof sun protection - I think it gives me enough for what I need but I'd definitely add something else if I knew I'd be in copious amounts of direct sunlight. |

Laria,
It is not too rich you put the cream for body on your face. It will not block your pores?
I only try to put face cream on body.

Yes I'm really dry too! So I'll definitely use Quench under it - I love Quench! My skin is so dry that I make a DIY moisturizer rich in sea buckthorn oil and a few other oils and I mix a pump of that with a pump of Quench - they mix really well together and apply.
I think I'll order Devita's "body" SS to start with and if that's not right for my face I'll just use it on my body then order the face.
I'll probably use Shelter / Osmosis for the rest of my existence anyway but I do like to mix it up a little and experiment - makes being a girl worthwhile! lol
I don't spend much time in the direct sunlight, but I live in Australia which has a harsh climate so I get plenty of incidental sun when I'm out and about - I always try to wear a hat or cap though
Time if you still have a lot of dryness issues avocado and emu oils are really good - if my skin is being particularly dry I layer my skincare, then moisturizer then put some oils over the top and allow to soak in - I find these 2 oils the best when things are bad lol

avocado oil is thick, it may block my pores. how do you apply on your face. just put on your face or rub on your hands first then press on your face? |

I dont find avocado oil thick at all - maybe it depends on your skin type - my skin used to be dry/combination but now it is dry and it just loves oils applied directly to it.
I just put a few drops of whatever oil I'm using on the back of my hand and then I just use a concealer brush to brush it over my face on the areas I need it... |

Thanks for the tip Glamcat. I have never used avocado oil on my face, but have used emu oil. It helped to heal my skin before I found Osmosis.
Have you ever tried the Immerse? It is really nice and you don't need a lot. With the new pumps, it is much easier to apply a smaller amount. I still have the old pumps, so I have to push down very slowly, so I don't ens up with a big glob. I add a small amount of the Immerse with the Quench at night if I am not using the Repair. It gives me the right amount of moisture. |

I actually love using Immerse at night with my Quench! We are so on the same page Time! when I wake up my face not only smells lovely but feels really hydrated and refreshed. I know they say to use the same products and routine but using Osmosis I do mix it up a bit and my skin copes really fine with it - it's the only line I've been able to mix and match without it causing any problems.
Yes I have a few Osmosis products with the new pumps and I LOVE THE NEW PUMPS! hahaha... no shooting product in all directions in my bathroom! My bathroom cabinet often had mystery 'squirts' all over it! |

Did Devita change the packaging of the Solar Protective Moisturizer SPF 30? I think, it sells it in a JAR now? |

I am not sure about now, but the first few times I bought it, it was in a glass bottle, the last time I bought it, it was in a see-through tube. |

As far as I know, both body sunblock and SPM still come in white tubes.
Old versions: violet glass bottles with pumps and before that they used a jar similar to Avene's Compensating cream.
However, Devita RX line, which is their "pro" line, has a sunscreen called Ultra Solar in 100 ml jar. It's pretty much same formula as normal SPM SPF 30, but with additional titanium and I believe it's SPF 50. |

@Jazzi:
THANKYOU so much for suggesting Topix Glycolix Elite SPF 30. I have been using it for a week and it has been wonderful for my oily skin. It also seems to improve the look of my skin. The constant hunt for a good, natural sunscreen seems neverending! |

I'm glad you like it! I hope it agrees with your skin in long-term as well, it's a really nice sunscreen, but many people avoid it because it contains vitamin A&C palmitates and a couple parabens and those have gotten really bad reputation over the years. Not natural, but works and has a bunch of antioxidants in it. |
