Hi Bethany - What happened to the Climax (Anti-Climax?) spray? I was thinking about ordering some, on your recommendation - but won't if you're not recommending it now...
TIA! |
The Climax Spray was MUCH better than nothing, but still not as numbing as I need it to be. But it will probably be great for most people.
If you do order it, PLEASE be sure to set up a separate free email account on hotmail, yahoo, gmail, etc and use it when you register on Alldaychemist. I get 30-50 spam emails EVERY DAY now on ------------------, Cialis, Levita, etc. and I am 100% sure that it is because I ordered that darn spray.
Granted, I do find the subject lines very entertaining, like "Bring Life to the Dead Python in your Pants" but it does get old after a while, sigh. |

Trying the Emla cream now! No dressings. (Using half of the 5g tube on my face, I'll do my neck tomorrow probably).
It's only been on for 5 minutes and I'm feeling nicely numb already, much quicker than the Xylocaine spray I was using recently. I'm going to leave it on for an hour.
I'll report back with my verdict!
PS- I hear ya about Alldaychemist, I used my *main* email address! The constant torrent of spam is a PITA |

Thanks for the info Bethany, appreciate your getting back to me on it. April 2007, huh? No wonder he was giving it away
Wonder if those disposable email addresses would work with Alldaychemist They stay active for up to 24 hours (some for just 10 minutes). |

OMG - Thanks for the warning about the spam. I generally try to use a "throwaway" email account that I use when ordering things online - but in the case of Alldaychemist - I may create a special one just for them (and their "python" emails...)
Then again, there is an artist out there who does paintings specifically with the words of spam emails in them. The "dead python in the pants" would make a perfect subject line for an art piece! LOL
I'm tempted to ask my derm for a script for a numbing cream - but am kind of putting it off - as I really don't even want to start the discussion of "WHY" I need a numbing cream... (Well, you see, Doctor, I have this little roller thingy that makes holes in my face, and... uh...) Is there a convenient "other" reason why someone might need a numbing cream?? LOL |

I'm not sure if this has been posted here before, but I stumbled across this really good 'how to' video instruction on Derma Rolling on U-Tube.
It goes into good detail for skin prep and numbing, and then shows the rolling..

I would not go with a disposable email address because they will need to send you shipping updates, etc. and that takes a few days. An email address at the places I listed above are free, and will last as long as you need them to. |

Try the options that are available to you before you go that route...my derm was so impressed by my skin changes that she asked what I was doing and then willingly gave me something so that I could continue. (though she obviously didn't check the dates, lol)
I took her in a ton of dermarolling documentation (including the clinicals) last Friday, and you can bet I will be asking for something the next time I go in...I am sure that she will prescribe it under the guise of laser hair removal or something. I don't care, as long as it works! |

That was a more intense roll than usual!
I only applied 2.5g of Emla (no bandages), after seeing the Youtube link I'll put a thicker layer on next time. I also think it was starting to wear off after an hour, probably because I didn't put much on. I'll wade in after 20 minutes or so when I roll again.
I'd say it's better than the Xylocaine, it kicks in quicker and even doing my nose wasn't as uncomfortable. |

Intense is good...especially if your goal is to roll less frequently! Did you do your upper lip? If so, how was the pain?
I think I'll do my forehead lines with my 3Line this weekend...I may try the bandage approach since I can just tie a piece of saran wrap around my head like a Xanadu headband. |

My nose is my most painful part actually! The upper lip was fine.
I'm going to do my neck later and use the full 5g tube. The warnings on the leaflet are a bit worrying, though I'm sure I read it's more dangerous if you use the bandages and overdo application?
I get the same reaction from my family each time I use the dermaroller.
Sister: "You've been using *that thing* again."
Mother: "You'll ruin your skin!" |

Nope...it looks like they may have actually sold our addresses, because I am also getting spam for canadiaan pharmacies too.
Whatever you do, do NOT open them. Once you have viewed an email, they know that email address is active and you are guaranteed to get even MORE spam. |

What are you all using to remove the Emla before the roll? I've ordered some and want to be ready to go when it gets here. |

I use a washcloth with warm water, then splash my face with water. This feels pretty odd when your face is numb. I follow up with a cotton pad saturated with Bactine Pain Relieving Cleansing Spray, then proceed with rolling. |

Someone mentioned wanting to not have to wear foundation anymore from using a dermaroller. Ive been wearing makeup because Ive HAD to for the last 20 years....
Within the last week I realized - I no longer HAVE too.
Ive been using a few devices - but not as often as I use the dermaroller - (.15 and the 2.0) I really truly see a huge difference. My pores are smaller - which i noticed a few months ago. The redness Ive had for SO long has diminished greatly and my acne hasnt flared up as much. Im amazed!!
I wanted some kind of positive change from all the pain I endure from this device - but never thought I wouldnt have to wear FOUNDATION!!!!!
PS - Ive also noticed my cheeks have become much more fuller - cant be totally sure its the dermaroller - but I wouldnt be surprised. |

HI every one :
I saw a lot of video on youtube show how to do it in clinic.
They need do mask first for 40 minus,
then apply something
then roll on face in different direction
then apply vitamin c mask.
So it at least need 1 hours to complete.
I am wondering that can we skip 40 minus mask step, directly do it on face ? |

Please read this post that was just one page past this one...it tells you much of what you need to know, and points you to what should be required reading before anyone starts rolling.

Hi, everybody! I really want to try rolling for acne scars, but I've done enough reading to get really confused. I've figured out that I need to get the 1.5 for the scars, but beyond that, I'm lost. What's the best brand & where is the best place to purchase it? I know I need to take Vit C, but what topical products do I need and where's the best place to purchase them? I also read somewhere that I should use certain topicals for something like three weeks before rolling. Is that right? Oh, and is the 1.5 too much to start out with for someone who has never rolled? Help! |
Bunny, welcome to EDS. This is great place if you are looking to educate yourself on all of the various options available to you.
Regarding dermarolling...if you read the appropriate threads, you will find that:
- There are multiple roller manufacturers available, but most EDS members agree that Dr. Rollers are very high quality and EDS members get a discount. They are also the only brand I will use due to the cross-linked needle pattern which ensures deeper penetration.
Discounted Rollers for EDS Members
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=29392
- Scarring requires longer needles in order to break up scar tissue. 1.5mm is a good length to start with in this instance...you can go with a regular roller or a 3Line is you need access to tighter areas like next to your nose, etc.
- Skin requires Vit A and Vit C on an ONGOING basis to rejuvenate...most people here use Retin A for the Vit A. Some people use the ascorbic acid form of Vit C on a regular basis and right after a roll, though the pros do not recommend using AS on open wounds and use an oil soluble form instead. Check out the Skincare and Makeup forum for recommendations on manufacturers, etc. There is a ton of info available if you use the Search function at the top of every forum page.
Environ® Medical Roll-CIT™ Micro-needling
Revolutionary New Approach to Medical Needling
Probably my FAVORITE rolling article - it contains frequency recommendations, as well as pre- and post-roll protocols for optimal collagen development.
http://www.dermaconcepts.com/2004/environ1mmNeedling1.pdf
- Instructions on how to DO a roll are detailed here:
Environ stunned the world...
Some results pics and detailed directions on how to do a roll, including frequency of usage for the .2mm Environ home care roller:
http://www.beautymagonline.com/pages/environ_rollcit.htm
- If you want OPTIMAL results, do your research and TAKE NOTES if you can't remember everything. I have read each of the articles in the link below at least 5 times (and some more than that!)
CIT/Dermarolling Articles and Presentations
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=29860
- I realize that reading the HUGE Dermarolling support thread is overwhelming, and contains contradictory info as we all went through our individual learning process. However, you really need to take the time to read the last 20 pages just to fully understand what you are getting into.
If you have specific questions after doing your research, just let us know! |

I read the whole thread before I bought this 1.5 mm torture tool .....Sorry I had to leave to pick up kids from school and couldnt type the whole story...I got this 1.5mm as most people said its the best....I have some acne scars and large pores with some fine wrinkles....I used the Bikini cream thats 2% lidocaine...didnt do anything for me...
I WAS EXTREMELY RED AFTERWARDS FOR ONE HOUR...got better...I just have one question I did only the cheeks for short time less than a minute ...how long you guys use DR and if I just used it for less than 1 min should I try tomorrow with Ice and more numbing cream ?Or wait till next week...I am allergic to all the creams Retin A, Vit C serums...only can use oils that I have ...Almond oil,Olive oil, avacado oil ,jojoba oil...I have around ten other oils but thats what doesnt cause any problems for me...all other creams no matter how expensive will cause break outs and allergic reactions...some preservative they all have is my enemy...so please just two questions...
1 should I roll tomorrow.??
2 If yes how often should I do it with 1.5mm tool?
Any suggestions are appreciated.. |

SimpleMD a minute of rolling isn't nearly enough time to do a thorough job, although I can understand why you gave up without a proper numbing cream .
It takes me about 20 mins to do my face and that's by rolling each area in a "star" pattern, and even then, I go back over it again! I'm normally red for at least 48 hrs afterwards. From the sounds of it you haven't done a serious roll yet, so I don't think there would be any harm in rolling again tomorrow.
Sorry, I can't answer you on what to use afterwards, but I'm sure others will jump in. I use Vit C about 30 mins after a roll and RetinA that night (I usually roll in the a.m. - lucky me, I work from home!). |
