I tried the DR H cleaning cream last night from my sample tin as well as the milk, toner and the rose cream which I had tried already (I know your not supposed to put it on at night but my skin needs something and without the rythmic night whatnots the rose cream had to do!)
Its a bit strange to use and yes the smell is a bit odd too but I didn't find it unpleasant and nothing has - so far - to my skin! I will keep using it though and see how I get on.
A quirky cream but onwe that seems to be effective! (The smell reminds me of Horlicks!) |

I love Dr. H cleansing cream! It makes my face feel so smooth and soft, and it gives it a nice glow the very day I use it. It is a bit grainy and a pain to use sometimes, but it's well worth it. If you just got it and aren't accustomed to it, I say give it a shot for at least 2 weeks and see where you get. The results are worth it. |

Hi Mabsy - yep Horlicks a milky hot malt drink (also available in choccy malt, mmm).
The cleansing cream fragrance has that feel to it!
Used it again last night still no breakouts or skin horrors - will it replace the MD Forte?....m will reserve judgement! |

Ok.. here goes..
Packaging
So disappointing. It just looks like those metal toothpaste tubes from years ago. Not impressed at all.
Smell
This was just AWFUL. I could still smell it on my fingers even hours later and just the thought of it still makes me nausous. Ugh, thinking about it now makes me gag.
Application
I squeezed out about a pea sized amount of the brown goo and mixed this with a little bit of water between my palms and fingers. I then brought my hands up to my damp, clean, make-up free face and tried doing that pressing/rolling motion thing gently with my palms and fingers. I felt like such an idiot. All I could think about was that I looked like a fish. So I did this for about a minute. I couldn't do it any longer cos the smell was just too much. I rinsed it all off and applied a cold compress as per the instructions.
Verdict
Well, my face did feel soft. I kept staring in the mirror to see if my pores had disappeared. And bugger me, they did looking smaller. And my face had a sort of sheen to it that I could quite easily mistake for a glow. So I thought, great, this stuff isn't half bad. I remembered reading that Dr H says not to put moisturiser on at night so I thought why not, I'll give that a go too.
5 mins later
I just wanted to rip my face off. It was so taught and dry. I had a mini heart attack when I looked in the mirror and saw my nose and forehead PEELING. There was no way in the world that I could not put any moisturiser on. So I slathered on my Philiosophy Hope in a Jar and said a little prayer as I got into bed.
The morning after
I'm happy to report that my face was still there this morning when I woke up. No peeling and more importantly no breakouts. I'm not a morning person so I had no time to do the pressing/rolling thing so I just stuck to my trusted Philosophy routine instead.
So, I bet you're all thinking I'm gonna chuck the Dr H it in the bin....
Well, you'd be wrong! I'm actually seriously thinking about switching over to a Dr H routine. I'm thinking of ordering - the milk, the toner and a moisturiser, and maybe a mask too? I'm actually having a dilema now, cos I was just about to do the whole Decleor thing but now I'm wanting to give Dr H a shot. Oh, what to do, what to do?
In a sick and twisted way, I think the smell might just grow on me.... Decleor or Dr H? Dr H or Decleor? Seems a shame to let the Dr H go to waste.... |

rzecka,
I had to apply the rose cream at night too, I can't do this no moisturiser at night malarky, maybe if I tried the rythmic night ampoules it'd be better they should put some in the trial kit!!!!
Why not cherry pick your fave products from Decleor and Dr H? I mix and match depending on my skin/mood and seems to work quite well!! |

Rzecka!
LOL! Fair enough! I have only used the Dr H for a few days but like it so far, but used to be a Decleor devotee when my skin was more oily.
Which do I prefer? well DR H wins on price hands down, can't comment on performance as not used it long enough but so far so good.
Thing is if it was me I'd get samples of both and see which I liked best! (But don't tell the OH!!!) |

I posted on you sample crisis thread!
If it's any hlep you can go to the Dr H UK website (www.drhauschka.co.uk), you can order the kits form there too plus they do sample sizes of some of the other products - I ordered my daily face kit plus a sample of the rose body oil and a sample of the rejuvinating face mask, plus the lipbalm for good measure! They arrived within a couple of days bar the mask which they had temporarily sold out of but will send on to me later. So might be you could order the kit plus a few extras, anything you don't want to use or don't like(like the rose crem - I'll buy off you if you like as you're in the UK!!! I like to carry the sample sizes of the moisturisers around with me!!) Just a thought!!! |

Ok. after reading this I might ressurect my Dr H CC. Just didn't get the whole rolling thing and didn't think it really did anything for me. Although cause my face is very oily I did manage to do without moisturiser at night.
Smells similar to the jurlique moor mud mask. |

Mabsy,
Here is my report on Dr H cc. After using my sample for a week (pm only), I think it gave me another case of contact dermatitis
I have dry/sensitive skin that is prone to seborrheic dermatitis. This is the 4th allergic contact dermatitis I have had in the past 6 months. Boo-hoo!
I actually liked the smell but my face was getting drier and drier and started to develop dry patches. Sigh! |

Sorry to hear that mtview It doesn't sound like it's suitable for you, I hope your skin recovers soon
What were the other products that have caused you problems? Is there a common theme (e.g. all natural products, specific ingredient, all exfoliators, etc)? |

Hi Mabsy,
The first time I got contact dermatitis was from an all-natural cleanser. 2nd time was from a harsh scrub, 3rd time from strong retinol product then I was stupid enough to use some physical exfoliant again.
It seems that a lot of dermatitis prone people can't tolerate all natural product. I kept thinking all natural=good, less irritating. I was definitely wrong.
I think I should stick with gentle products that is geared toward sensitive skin. However, they are so boring
Thank goodness EDS gave me a sample of the CC so no money wasted. I also have a sample of the babor hyol. Wonder if I should try it? |
