You know what I find curious? Over 20 years ago, they made Diana submit to some humiliating gynecological exam to prove that she was a virgin and therefore fit to bear the royal heir. But these days, the royals are marrying just about anyone! I mean, I think we all know that Sarah Ferguson was no virgin!! Although this phenomena isn’t just unique to the British. A few years ago, the Crown Price of Norway or Sweden, or one of those Scandanavian countries, married an ex-“rocker chick” who had a child born out of wedlock with some dude who was seriously mixed up in the drug scene. Then last year (?), the Crown Prince of Spain married a chick who had been divorced at least once – they wouldn’t let him marry the Norweigan (or maybe she was Swedish?) lingerie model who was allegedly the love of his life, but a divorcee is okay?? And we won’t even bring up Princess Stephanie of Monaco and the train wreck that is her love life!!

She could be a lot more attractive; she has a nice profile. Losing the feathered, side-sweeping, poofy, winged hair-do would help, as would brightening her washed-out, mousey colour. Her teeth need a bit of TLC too; she often looks like she is grimacing when she smiles. Let's contact ABC's "Extreme Make-Over", and see if they'll take on the task of helping the new Mrs. Windsor.
Actually, they mentioned in Dateline NBC on Friday night that a bunch of reknowned plastic surgeons (including the "Extreme Makeover" people) have been in contact with Camilla's people, offering to give her an extreme makeover at no charge, but she laughingly turned all the offers down! I actually thought that was kind of refreshing -- even though she's no raving beauty, she's comfortable in her own skin, which probably makes her healthier and happier than a lot of more attractive people who are constantly worrying about gaining an ounce or getting a wrinkle....

Yes Cheeks your right, he cooled things down and chose the navy, and she married someone else...

I just think he married Diana purely for children....He didnt give the marriage a chance as he was carrying on with Camilla throughout. If he hadnt been so selfish Diana might still be alive today....

As you can probably tell, I've no time for Charles or Camilla...! Shock

He did propose marriage, and she declined. Apparently, she knew that she was not going to be considered suitable by the firm. She was not a virgin, and she was a Catholic.

Note: Diana had to have an exam before marrying Charles, to prove that she was able to bear children AND was chaste.

P.S. About the hat that was part of Camilla’s wedding ensemble...I don’t know, maybe it’s because we don’t see a lot of American women wearing those kind of big, fussy chapeaus, but I thought Cam’s hat would have looked more fitting at Ascot or whatever that snooty horse race is called over there! Although I must say that Camilla’s white hat was no where near as ugly and freaky-looking as the headdress thingy that Donald Trump’s bride wore to hold up her veil – did you SEE that thing??? What was that?! Everyone kept saying how Melania Trump has such ‘impeccable taste,’ but it certainly wasn’t evident in either her wedding gown or her headpiece – clear evidence that just because you have oodles of money, it doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ve good oodles of good sense/taste to go along with it!! What is it about brides anyway, that compels them to want to look like a poufy meringue anyway??? *scratches head in bemusement*

I saw the same special on Dateline last week. The quote I remember most was Camilla's response to an onslaught of offers to put her in touch with a great plastic surgeon.

"Read between my lines!" It seems her attitude is one of embracing what life has thrown her way. She made a comment about how rich her life has been - lines on her face representing love affairs, rearing children, etc.

I know very little about the Royals, but I found her attitude refreshingly healthy!

I cried when Diana died, I was in Asia and crying my eyes out at 4 in the morning~!
I have probably watched every single Biography there is about Diana, and apparently, she was no angel either, she did commit adultery as well and was very childish. Nonetheless, I still adore her.

I am happy for Charles and Camilla, that's what I call that true love. They seem to be very happy and content together.

As for Charles being King, I don't think so, I think the Queen will outlive him just to piss him off. Laughing

And all you Brits will hate me for this but I never liked Diana! Please forgive me, but her "shyness" seemed put-on to me and she seemed a bit too coy and manipulative (reminds me of my mother-in-law).

Don't worry, I'm a Brit and I'm on your side with this one. I was never fooled by her manipulative ways either. A lot of the public were won over by her beauty and she fitted the 'Princess' role perfectly with her blonde hair and blue eyes and her sense of style. People like to harp on about her like she was some kind of saint with all her charity work. Princess Anne does a lot of work for charity but because she's not a looker people would rather not have column inches dedicated to her and have her visage splashed all over the media. Camilla is constantly attacked for not being as attractive as Diana. Who cares? Looks are not everything.
Plenty of talk around here about Charles and Camilla being adulterers, let's not forget that Diana had her share of lovers too. She may have turned to other men when she realised her marriage to Charles was never going to work but that doesn't excuse her doing it. According to some of the stories that have been coming out over the past few months, Diana was well aware of the relationship between Charles and Camilla but thought that she could put her foot down and stop it when she married him. Naive. If you knew that the man you planned to marry was having a relationship with another woman would you still go ahead with the marriage? I wouldn't. Still, perhaps having the offer of being the future queen waved under your nose can affect your decison.

Thank you Toe for moral support on this. I regretted posting the remark and considered deleting it for fear of offending anyone. There's no denying Diana's charisma, though. I saw a makeshift shrine for her in Paris near the spot where the fatal accident occurred, proving her popularity was international. May she rest in peace. And may I learn someday to to accept my mother-in-law's controlling ways. NOT!!! She's a former grammar school teacher as well -- maybe some people who work with small children think they're entitled/able to manipulate adults too!

I find Camilla's lack of vanity refreshing. Considering all of the criticism she gets about her looks, her self-acceptance is admirable, IMO. Maybe she'll inspire women to accept themselves for who they are, and not strive for such impossibly high standards of feminine beauty. Most women I know are their own worst critics -- this forum is testimony to that fact. Today's society imposes greater and greater pressure on women to be beautiful and forever youthful-looking. We could use a break!!! It's time for a new paradigm, time for new concepts of what exactly makes a person beautiful. Until then, however, I'll try anything, spend anything to look my best Laughing Laughing Laughing I could feed entire Third World villages with what I spend on beauty products and clothes Shock Shock Shock

Man, that wedding dress of Melania Trump's has to be one of the most hideous things I've ever seen! Bad Grin

I thought wife #2 Marla Maples had a surprisingly gorgeous & elegant gown when she went down the aile with the Donald. Wish I could find pictures of it now

I quite liked Camilla's white hat, but the feathery thing she wore to the blessing ceremony puzzled me.
