Ok, I can't hold back a review any longer. I've been using my Active Serum for 3 weeks now and have been totally BLOWN AWAY by what I see. My skin has never looked healthier, smoother, brighter. I have never been this happy with a skincare product, and IS Clinical has pretty much got me hooked for life. I knew I should have taken before/after pictures, but I'm too embarrassed to put a before picture on here since my skin has been left over with scars aplenty from a big breakout of hormonal cystic acne all over my chin and jawline right after quitting the pill. Also, a bad reaction to PSF Emergin-C and Everyday Minerals left my forehead and cheeks with mottled texture, clogged pores and blackheads galore. I started seeing results in the first week, but after 3 weeks, my skin is glowing, and free of clogged pores. I was initially scared of using this since it does contain alcohol, and for the fear that my skin will react to the AHA/BHA combo. For someone who can't use Vit C serums, my combo skin tolerates this very well. No peeling or dryness, just mild tingling from the menthol, which I have grown to like. Also slight redness during the first two days. This baby is so effective in helping cell turnover that I had to switch to a lighter shade of my Alima MMU from losing my tan so fast. I have to say the most dramatic difference this makes in my skin is how well it keeps clogged pores/blackheads at bay, how it has evened out my skintone, how it has helped fade my acne scars, and most impressive of all, how it is as effective, if not more, as my prescription topical antibiotic in controlling acne. As my hormones have calmed down, I only get up to 2 cysts on my chin before my period, and while this doesn't stop the bumps from forming on my chin, it has stopped them from developing into gigantic cysts. They literally dissapeared in a few days. This has also helped prevent blemishes from infected blackheads/hair follicles. I must say this is such a purifying powerhouse. Anyone contemplating this, I say get a sample from EDS. You'll be so happy with this you'll want to order a full size. Two thumbs wayyy up for ISC Active Serum!!!
Ingredients: Water, Glycerin, Glyceryl Polyacrylate, Butylene Glycol, SD Alcohol 30, Sugar Cane Extract (Glycolic Acid), Bilberry Extract (Lactic Acid), Triethanolamine, Arbutin, Willow Bark Extract (Salicylic Acid), Mushroom Extract (Kojic Acid), Menthol, Phenoxyethanol. |

I'll have to try this again. I started the C serum, the active serum at the same time and had a bad breakout all over my forehead and even on my nose(where I never get pimples!). In fact Ive never broke out so badly before! I stopped using both and let it clear and have reintroduced the c serum without any trouble so I suspect it could be the active that caused the breakout. I'll try it once more and see. |

carolb69: I had the same problem as you. I stared using the Active + hydracool combo in PM and Super Serum in AM. I started breaking out very badly in places where I had never even had a blackhead. I stopped using and had to take a full course of antibiotics for my acne to heal.
I will give them a second chance though, since 99.9% of the Active Serum reviews are excellent.
I will however try them One at a time. Starting with the Active, and use only that for a few weeks. If all goes well, I will then add the Super Serum. THis way I can know for sure which one my skin didn't like. |

Yeah dollbird-another fanatic in the making!! I have never found a more complete line for my skin and it has literally changed my skin for the best. I don't do facilas or microdermabrasions any more, just IS Clinical, the Baby Q and my Clarisonic. |

You know dollbird, I'm wondering if you NEED that combo to get the WOW results. I've been using ISC Active for 3 months and almost finished my bottle but I can't say WOW. I'm very impartial about it and I may or may not repurchase. It certainly did not keep me from from getting acne or clogged pores, I think it helped lighten my scars faster than if I don't use it but other than that nothing spectacular. I'm young too and have not used glycolics before so I should be experiencing more WOW effects with it but I don't. I have just started with my Clarisonic yesterday so I'm going to have to see if it makes a difference and whether this really IS a necessary combo. |

Sormuimui, i'm surprised to hear that since the Active Serum has made such a significant and noticeable difference in my skin. I guess the adage "to each her own" couldn't be truer in this case. I've used the Clarisonic long enough (8 months) to notice separate effects from both. I gave the Clarisonic a rest for the first 2 weeks I was using the Active, just to try to isolate their effects. I started using the brush again because the Active was making the skin around my nose peel a little bit, and the brush is effective in sloughing away the peeling skin. I still saw results without using my Clarisonic for 2 weeks, but combined, my large pores have become so refined. However, I experienced more brightening effect from the Active. I will not give up on both, since the Active is a great night active for me, and the Clarisonic is essential in my cleansing routine. I don't use a toner, since the Clarisonic removes every last trace of makeup. I'm sorry the Active didn't work for you. Hope you find something you're happy with soon! |

Hi, I'm new to this forum and would love some help. I'm 28 and have combination skin which usually breaks out at that time of the month. But for the last 2 years its been under good control with the pill, MD Formulations products & BHA/AHA peels. I also use Skinceuticals CE Ferulic. I've been reading all the posts, as I'm trying to decide on a new AHA product. I've narrowed it down to either IS Active Serum or Skinceuticals Intense Line Defense (unless anyone has any other suggestions?) It seems most people here like IS a lot. Should I use both active and super serums or just active? Thanks very much! |

since you already use and like Skinceuticals CE Ferulic, i'd suggest starting with just the Active (and possibly the HydraCool). you can ask for a sample of IS Clinical C's -- Super Serum and ProHeal (better for acne prone people in some cases) -- to try them out.... HTH |

It is possable that IS is more popular because Skinceuticals is not sold here anymore. EDS had some problems to be able to get shipment or something like that. |

I used Skinceuticals way back in the day and it was never something I purchased here. I don't think there's any comparison between the ISC products and Skinceuticals in terms of effectiveness and results. Just my opinion ... |

Im glad to say my skin has cleared up and Im using both c serum and active with no problems
Im still not using Active Serum everyday though, just alternating each night between Avene Eluage cream and Active. Though I want to build up to using the Active underneath my retinol.
Has anyone else combined the Active plus Retinol yet without problems?
Also Im using Active Serum without Hydrocool on top without any irritation, I just use a moisturiser on top, does it really matter Im not using hydrocool? |

glad it's working for you!
i have been using Active with Eluage creme over Active (no moisturiser) almost every night and loving it -- i finally have glowy skin! i say "almost" because every now and again my skin just screams for moisture and i don't like to mix the two so i'll put some cream only on my face to give it a break.... give it a try. only you will know if it works for you. and remember to listen to your skin. (BTW, i probably would be adding the Hydracool as it does enhance the effectiveness along with adding a touch of moisture, but i ran out.) |

Do you not consider Eluage a moisturiser then? I have noticed it is a little drying, not as bad as Ystheal gel but still I think I may need something extra on top. |

absolutely not! despite the creme in the name, it's a retinal. it's drying. especially on top of Active. i do *not* use a moisturiser on top because i do not want to buffer my actives. i tend to wear a slightly more emollient moisturiser during the day to counteract this. or, if it's really parched, i'll take a night off and sleep in a nice moisturiser. Thanks to all your recommendations I'm a happy IS Clinical devotee. My question is this:
My dermatologist recently gave me Tazorac samples. Does anyone have suggestions on how to incorporate this into my routine? I use Super Serum, Active Serum, & Hydracool. Any suggestions would be appreciated. |

if you look on the MUA boards, and do a search, there's info about "short contact therapy". i'm not an expert about this at all -- i've just seen mention of it -- and it may be the perfect way to start. |

Bought the IS Cleanser few months back, didn't try it until last week. This cleanser really help to smoothen my skin. I like this better than IS active serum. IMO, i find that cleanser does a wonder full job in clearing off those tiny bumps on my face, better than the active serum. |

Skinlover-if the cleanser worked better that's great, which confirms my theory that it's definately a strong cleanser. I found it too drying so I took it back out of my routine and gave it to my son. |

Annie, that's why (till I ran out) it was my morning cleanser-and I have oily skin. Mind you, now that I don't have it, I find I need to use some mandelic a.m. The cleanser really did a great job smoothing my skin. |
