Lucyluc, what a great thread ... thanks for starting this.
I agree with the "less is more" approach to make up for our age group, and don't have much to add except one little tip and that's using Nuxe Huile Prodigeiuse Golden Shimmer Dry Oil lightly on the center of the eyelids for a very subtle, natural, glowy look. I also mix a drop of the oil on my palm with a little of my brown eye pencil (I love Urban Decay 24/7, but any brand will do) and put this in the crease, the outer corners, and under my eyes for a bit more definition -- kind of a very understated smokey eye, if you will. |

<<<<And I have a youth-enhancing makeup trick that I want to add to this thread: On a whim, I bought an Estee Lauder eyeshadow pencil in the color "black pearl." It's thicker than an eyeliner and the color is like a dark silvery gray. I put it above my upper lashes instead of drawing a thin line of eyeliner. The first day I tried this, I was at a beach park and two guys in their twenties kept looking at me like they were getting up the nerve to come over. I figured as soon as they got close, they'd see how old I am and that'll be the end of that. Not so. They actually came over and talked to me, then one of them asked me out. I laughed and said I was almost old enough to be his mother. They seemed genuinely surprised..
I love this thread.
I have a friend who wears Estee Lauder double wear and her face looks flawless..I will have to try it and I will get the eye shadow pencil a try also..he..he..

There are some very glowing reviews on MUA for Estee Lauder double wear foundation filtered by the 45-55 age group. I think I'm going to try it! And the black pearl eyeshadow pencil, while I'm at it.
Estee Lauder do seem to be one of the better "dept store" lines for both makeup and skincare ... I've just recently bought the Advanced Night Repair Concentrate (for a very good price on ebay) and while it's a bit early yet to offer an informed opinion, I'm liking it very much so far. |

I've gotta go with beeb -- no frosty/sparkly eye shadow! (or freaky lip liner!) |

Hi Sister
I originally bought the Nuxe oil for my legs, too. I'm glad you found a good deal on it. I got mine on eBay back last year in the early fall, and I don't recall now what I paid for it. I remember thinking it was a bit expensive, but a little goes a long way. I think you are going to love it! It's also great to smooth in your hair and has a really lovely smell. If I have a special occasion, sometimes I touch a little tiny bit in the divet above my cupid's bow.

This isnt exactly a makeup tip but a tip that will make you look younger.Get your body at the "perfect weight" that is not too fat, not too skinny,if you are too thin, you face will look gaunt and accentuate the lines and hollows.Have just enough weight on you so your face is full, then join a gym and hire a fitness trainer to work with you for a couple months(or whatever you can afford)He can watch you when you exercise and correct your mistakes and give you exercises to give you that carved hard body. If you have the room invest in a "bosu ball",they are now available at target for $100. Every olympic athlete has one...why? Because you can never master it and it constantly works all your muscles. Doing situps on it will force you to use ALL the muscles in your core and give you a washboard tummy.A toned good body at the proper weight will defintely make you look younger!I am off to the gymn as I speak! |

re. Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
As I said a bit further up on this thread, having received the heads-up about this foundation from a post here, I checked the reviews on makeup alley - filtered by age for the 45-55 group. Nearly every review was a rave and so I went out and bought it today, and ...
... isn't it wonderful when something really does live up to the hype?!? I don't have many wrinkles but my combination skin does have a couple of scars and imperfections so I need good coverage but I don't like that 'mask' look. This is it! At long last, I think I finally found my HG foundation.
Thank you to all the ladies who have been contributing to this thread - it really has been so useful. |

http://www.janmarini.com/AgeInterventionRegenerationBooster.html I have been trying this product for a week:Jan Marini age intervention regeneration booster. I see a difference in my skin already in less than a week,my skin looks healthier and younger and radiant(especially for someone going to be 54). This is a real keeper. I had been using TNS recovery compex and Revive'(the most expensive skin care products in the world I think). Revive carries a product called Peau Magnifique for 1500 I think JM booster has the same ingredients....can be had for under 200 if you shop around. This definitely the best product I have ever used, not much info on the net about it because it is new. |

Hi Graceless_lady
Can you share how you are dealing with your undereye puffiness. I am experiencing the same thing and besides trying to hydrate myself I don't know what to do. What have you tried and what improvements have you had?
Thanks so much, Lou
lucyluc,
Is fastlash fake eyelashes?

fastlash is not fake lashes;its bits of tiny psrticles you add to your lashes and put mascara over giving lashes length and depth. |

I checked this out - It better be good for that price. I "bookmarked" this too - ha ha. found it for under 200.00 with a 15% off coupon, but I am going to hold off until I use up some of my current stash - the Vitamin C needs to be used up before it goes South!
LucyLuc - do you use C- serums or Copper peptides? What gadgets do you like?
What other products do you use with this great new Jan Marini skin care product? |

I was told thatwww.skinspecialist.com sells it for as low as 138 when you have a coupon. I pd 167 on ebay but the seller took 2 weeks to send it so I will reorder from skinspecialist.com. I think this product will be her best seller, right now it is very new but when word gets out it really works there will be a frenzy like her eyelash product! What I like about the product is that you see results in less than a week, its a 6 week treatment that comes in 6 bottles but you can use it yr round. I have been using Skin medica TNS Recovery compex and Revive and I think this product is better.I will definitely be using this forever.....My skin products? I use quite a lot I dont stick with 1 brand only and sometimes I rotate around...I use Skin Medica, Revive,Janson Beckett etc....I keep my face out of the sun at all times and take a lot of vitamins for my skin and drink a cocktail of brewers yeast, lecithin granules and MSM granules and oat bran. My skin has seen a big improvement since doing this. |
