Please would people read this entire thread before taking offence, then you will see what is meant by annoying, pointless, number-boosting posts.
We make it a point to keep stressing that new posters are very welcome here and that we enjoy reading their contributions. It's just those who reel off irrelevant posts (often just cut and pasted) again and again in a blatant attempt to boost their post numbers and earn more of a discount. |
I see what you mean, those 1 word liners that goes saying: "pressure", "more cream massage" on a topic that discusses, for instance, how to apply cream in the rather fragile eye area. Oh please! cut that out! |

I realize that English is not everyone's first language here, so let me say this plainly and as clearly as possible:
This is not a chat forum.
Except in the EDS lounge, this forum is for questions and information about skincare and makeup.
There is a "thank you" button to the left side of posts that allows you to send a thank you to posts that have been helpful. You should not send a separate reply to a thread simply to say "thank you."
The product review section is not for questions or miscellaneous skincare information. It is only for review of products.
We are a friendly forum, but we do want new forum members to understand the forum posting rules. The rules make the forum easier to use for all of us and help us all find the valuable information here. |
I do understand that this is not a chat forum. Hello, I've posted 20 replies in 5 years..
And, I can speak and understand english very well - but leave all the smileys and yummie yummy talk out of this forum as well, make it really serious than. But, many times I ALSO see members - with several hundreds of replies - just saying, thank U, or I want to try that or something similar.. |

Hello Vanilj, I am sorry if you thought that my post was aimed at you or was unfriendly in any way. It certainly wasn't aimed at anyone in particular, least of all you.
I was hoping to make a plain and simple statement of the normal way in which this particular forum operates. Many of the folks who have recently joined us are non-native English speakers who may not have read or understood the FAQ outlining what our rules are and how they differ from those of a lot of other forums. The FAQ can be a bit daunting for those with limited English, as some of our more recent posters have.
From my perspective, I would encourage posting by anyone with good information to share and good questions to ask, even if their English isn't good. This forum values the contributions of all of us--regardless of our language skills in English--and is a rich and diverse place. The problem is when some posters make many, many posts with little or no content. (And native English speakers are often the biggest offenders here!) Sometimes this is a cynical attempt to exploit EDS' generous policy on discounts based on forum posts. Other times, I think, it happens because the poster didn't realize that treating the forum like a chat space was not allowed. I was hoping that a clear statement about how the EDS forum works would be helpful to those who didn't know any better than to clog the forum with chat. |

Hello everyone,
I've been lurking these forums for quite some time, reading about people's experiences, and taking some of the advice posted.
At the bottom of each page there was always an encouragement to join the forum so that one could receive full benefits of the site. And I'm still not sure exactly what they are! )
I didn't know that people were getting credit for their posts. Regardless, many of the posts have been helpful and I want to thank you all for sharing. |

i feel the quality of posting has gone severely down hill since i first joined 3 years ago. the posts are so redundant and off putting it leaves no room for no real quality information or even input. |

Unfortunately the "bump" looks like the only thread *somebody* has missed...
Hopefully '250' is the goal, and not '1000'.. Or better yet a bloody $50 voucher might suffice..
2004 was a very nice year but it's OVER... |

I logged on today and I wanted to kill someone. I would like to see something along the lines of not being able to post more than 3 posts a day until they reach a total of 198. |

Yes and I am afraid it is correct that someone doesn't read these posts or return to the 4-6 year old threads she is resureccting all
over the forum!

There is a trend, that some new EDS users are not searching the wealth of information on this site and just post a web link, with "comments" or "what do you think" as the only text, and the link could be to a lightstim or baby quasar product, we could sink a battle ship with the amount of quality feedback we currently have in the archives.
I see this site as a knowledge base and users can't expect us all to spend hours typing text that is already on archived topics.

I agree! I spent 4 weeks reading through hundreds of posts before signing up and posting anything myself. Sometimes though I search for something I know I read and yet when I search it I cannot find it. In that case I may ask. The sheer volume of information can be overwhelming though and not everyone is able to work through it for a myriad of reasons.
Cheers

Kat - I think you are right - it must be daunting task especially to a new post to find the needle in the haystack.
Take care
