I had to go to an appointment 1/2 hour south of where I live so I stopped in a Walgreens I don't usually go to, (I needed some supplies) anyway I found this on sale for 3.99 per jar and grabbed the last 3.
Ready to start testing it out in the morning, can't wait! |
I did the exact same thing...I went to a Walgreens I don't usually shop at and decided to take a peak and see if they had the AHA cream..I found 3 jars with a big orange stickers saying "last chance..price 2.99) I asked girl at the cosmetic counter if this cream was being discontinued. She said she was not sure but the sticker meant this particular store would no longer be carrying the product..So..I grad the 3 jars and ran..

Wow That was a find at 2.99! I wonder why some stores carry certain products and not others? It's their store brand!
BTW The whole foods I go to most often is across from FAU, I am up in Palm Beach, but have business down there fairly often, so I think we are neighbors! Sorry I missed that earlier! |

Oh boy, I hope I didn't lead anybody astray. I guess it was dumb luck that my store had it.
Why wouldn't they have it though - or discontinue it? Unless it's too expensive to offer for the price anymore. |

The ones I grabbed weren't on the discontinued bin just on sale, I found them right with the regular skin care. But having so many Walgreen's stores around I do know there are things that are carried at certain stores and not others. I wouldn't worry! |

Cool. I heard on another forum that Walgreen's is having a big sale starting on Sunday too.
Just FYI.
Have a great weekend, all! |

Wandered into another Walgreens today while on a shopping trip in another part of town, and they had a few jars, so I grabbed 2. Figure I'll use them on my neck and hands; my face is up to 1.0 Retinol at present and I think that's more beneficial for it than the 8% glycolic would be, dunno...
I didn't feel any "bite" when I put it on the backs of my hands - is that a bad sign, or a good one?
It does smell faintly medicinal/vinegary at application, but the scent goes away pretty quick.
Wondering if the following cream would be an alternative for people who can't find it easily at their local stores - you can order it online from Texas Natural Supply:
10 % Glycolic Acid Creme/Lotion Base
All Natural
Ingredients in alphanumeric order: Aloe Vera Juice, Coconut Oil - Extra Virgin, Glycolic Acid , Olive Oil, Palm Stearic Acid, Potassium Sorbate, Shea Butter - Unrefined, Silver Citrate, Vegetable Glycerin, Vitamin E, Water, Wax - Emulsifying.
It's $5.63 for 3.75 ounces (Net weight), and they also have higher glycolic percentages available.
Not to detract from Walgreen's "gold in a jar," just thought it's a possible alternative...
Cheers! |

They still have it listed online with a 5 star rating at 5.99, so I doubt it's being discontinued!

Glad I went to my Walgreens when I did, because they only had 2 left!
Wondered how much you guys use over your entire face? A dime size? More, maybe?
Thanks!

Does he feel that he's dried up? I don't believe that 50 is gonna dry you out. |

I have a suggestion: IGNORE Dr. Oz. He's 50 if he's a day!
Sheesh!

Hi Ladies:
I'm new to to the forum but have been lurking for awhile now lol! Getting wonderful ideas from you knowledgeable people. I've bought this alpha hyddroxy cream and have been using it, but just recently started to get a reaction to it. I also have started cleansing with oils and using a towel to wipe off makeup ( i think the towel may be to rough on my skin)cause right after it seems a bit irritated, but after I dry my face, i put the cream on and it stings a bit, but have noticed now some red patches and i have a bit of itching on my face? Should i stop using it all together, or is this just a normal reaction??
Thanks for any replies:) |

Welcome Lacolora!
How often are you using this? It is often recommended to start slow (like X3 per week) and work your way to every night if desired.
Did you also just start the cleansing with oils at the same time? If that is the case, it might be hard to see where the reaction is coming from. Try just one (either new cleansing method or lactic acid) for a couple weeks to see where the reaction comes from.
I do think rubbing your face with a towel would cause irritation... since you have already exfoliated with the lactic acid. I just blot my face with the towel.
I hope this helps!
Again welcome, this is a wonder group of people all willing to share what they know.

I agree with erg,
I use OCM daily, and have for years. Also I have very tolerant skin which just doesn't get irritated!
One trick that may help with removing the oil blot first with tissues to soak up some of the oil, don't rub! Same with using a washcloth to remove the oil be gentle, it takes a bit longer but is well worth it!
You can also grab some baby wash cloths as they are exceptionally soft!
Welcome!!!
Good Luck! |

Hey, DarkMoon, baby washcloths is an excellent idea! I wish I'd thought of that earlier. I had a bad, bad experience with microfiber cloths (removed some skin) so I am NOT a rub-it kinds gal.
I also just bought satin pillowcases - do you ever use them?
TIA |

Well SoCalGal,
There is some payoff after having 4 kids!
Kidding but I find that the baby wash cloths are really super soft and do a great job for out faces.
I may be weird but I find satin makes me hot so I really don't care to sleep on it! I have sheets and pillow cases that are 100% cotton but stretchy like T shirts and I love them. I am a side sleeper (my boobs would suffocate me on my back) and I may get creases in the morning but they are gone by the time I have my coffee. |

All I can do is laugh, on my back I feel like I have a sandbag pressing on each side of my chest! Forget sleeping on these things!

Can I use the AHA cream on top of retin-a at night? Do you use it in the morning, too? I only use Vit C serum and sunscreen in the morning now. |
