Hi everyone. Could I get an opinion from some of you skincare "gurus"?
When I smile, deep creases appear all around my eyes. I'm only in my mid 30's, so what might have caused this?
A) putting in contact lenses every day for 22 years
B) living in a land of perpetual sunshine
C) being happy and smiling too much
D) using cheap eyecreams with lousy ingredients
E) all of the above
Even though I'm using great products now, I feel like the damage is continuing. Both Cellcosmet and Orlane eyecreams do a great job of erasing the fine lines, but these deep ones appear when I smile, and they seem to be getting deeper every month!!
Any ideas? Will Kinerase or Copper Peptides help? |

I'm going with A and B. C is automatically excluded because you can never be too happy or smile too much I'm not sure about D. Using the eyecreams you used may not have caused the lines but it may not have done as good a job at preventing them as another cream could have done. These things you just never know.
Btw, I used a Copper Peptide eye cream before. I can't remember the brand. It wasn't anything famous, just something I got off the net when the whole Copper Peptide thing started. All I remember was that it was dark green in colour I bought it because somewhere it said that continued use increases fat deposits under the skin (I should use it all over! LOL). I think that's part of the way it was supposed to reduce wrinkles, by plumping them up. I didn't have any wrinkles but I have visible veins so I wanted to 'grow some fat' over them *blushes* I didn't see any change.

Alohagirl,
I would say all of the above.
All faces get some lines just from the perpetual use of the muscles. That's no big deal. They are just lines and don't take away from anyone's beauty. I don't believe in a "lineless" face.
If you have sensitive skin then using eye creams that are not suited for your skin type can certainly increase lines because you may be irritating or dehydrating the eye area. Yes, some eye creams can actually dehydrate because of the chemicals and additives used. It all depends on the type of skin you have.
I just posted a reply to you about essential oils. I have heard many say camellia oil removes wrinkles but I personally have not tried it. Anyways, there are many, many oils used to help with wrinkles, and Sesame oil is a wonderful natural protection against the sun. So is coconut oil. My skin is so allergic and sensitive to chemicals that I can't even use sunscreen anymore. I had been using the same sunscreen for a number of years and found my skin getting drier and drier. When I finally looked at the ingredient list I almost fainted from the 200 chemicals listed!! No wonder my skin was getting worse!
That being said, I have nothing against other skin care lines. But, if you have sensitive skin some products can surely make your skin worse and give you some lines.
Kinerase did not work for me. This product actually made my face worse and it sure did give me lines that I never had before. But, to be fair, that's just me. I think it has worked well for many people. I do have strange skin.
Hope you can find the right products. |

Thanks for taking the time to answer, ladies. The premature ageing around my eyes is really disturbing. I saw a dermatologist a year ago who prescribed Retin-A. With my sensitive skin, it was a disaster. I looked as if I'd applied battery acid!
Leeleedeedee, my skin is similar to yours, so unless Kinerase starts getting rave reviews on this forum for it's ability to erase deep wrinkles, I think I should avoid it.
Mabsy, I know the copper peptide eyecream you referred to. I ordered it, too. It's a ghoulish green color with a fragrance (or should I say ODOR) to match! Because my eye area is not sensitive like the rest of my face, one of these days I'll get the courage to try it!
