snowymtn,
I know, isn't it annoying? You have to go through pages of this crap to get to the good (real) posts now!
These postings have already been reported & I imagine that someone at EDS is working on getting rid of them. I just feel bad for Magda or whoever has to sit there & delete all of these one by one! Bummer! |

It's everywhere! It's everywhere!
It's bad enough that I get a half dozen ------------------ spam email that I have to junk everyday on my work account, but here? |

Speaking of ------------------, it's just been released that taking it on a regular basis can cause blindness. |

FYI - the spammers have some kind of software or macro that automatically signs up as members on various forums (whether or not what they are trying to sell or advertise is actually relevant to the purpose of the forum!) and then automatically posts messages with links to whatever it is they're trying to sell.
The really only way to stop it is to make signing up for membership to forums more difficult. Like, have you ever seen the sign up page where it asks you to type in a a word or phrase on that is displayed on the page? That is a sort of "authentician" process that helps foil those macros that automatically sign them up. |

Carrie - I think that's a very good idea and more and more forums are nowadays validating new members before actually signing them up. I wonder if our forum software has the capability to do that.... I will suggest this to EDS and see what they say.
Spam wise, I cleared a whole lot on the 13th before I left but I had to go away for work for a few days so my apologies for any uncleared spam during that time. I'm sure that EDS cleared it as soon as they could. It usualy works faster because between myself and EDS we cover two time zones so can handle spam quicker. |

Mabsy: Thanks for your quick action. This is the best skincare forum I've found. These spammers can ruin the atmosphere. I don't know anything about running a board but I'm sure it's referring (here by you) that makes it so good. I don't know how to get rid of the more subtle SPAM. I guess just by having people not reply but there are a few people now that seem only to push particular products
and product deals. I don't think forbidding WEB links is a good idea and it nice to be reminded of promos but I can't think of how to do it!
Anyway just wanted to rant.
Thanks for your time. |
