Hey guys. Just looking for a little advice. I finally started a regular routine a couple days ago.
AM:
1. Exfoliate (Rite-Aid knock off of St. Ives apricot scrub)
2. Cleanser (Mint Mantra cleanser from Kyra)
3. Vit C serum
4. Moisturizer (right now using KissMyFace, but am waiting to receive a Shisedio sunscreen that i looooooove)
PM:
1. Exfoliate
2. Cleanser
3. Aspirin Mask
4. Super Cop (all over my face)
I think last night I used too much Super Cop because I applied it like a mask - sort of thickly - and just let it absorb. It kind of stung a lot. My face is a little more red in some areas than usual and feels tighter. The other nights that I applied Super Cop lightly like a moisturizer, my face felt good in the morning. I'm assuming that my applying too much was the cause of redness, but I just wanted to get a second opinion. Is there something else in my regime that I might be doing wrong? |

Im not suprised your face was sore and stinging...by exfoliating and using asprin mask every evening your rubbing your skin raw and not allowing it any regeneration time.
I do not want to assume if you are male or female but here is my advice:
Male - Just use the asprin mask once/twice a week and only exfoliate once a day.
Female - Asprin mask once a week and exfoliate once/twice a week
Forgive my ignorance, What is Super Cop? |

the apricot scrub is murder on the face. also you shouldn't use the vit c serum and aspirin mask at the same time. i can't remember why, but I had some issues with a vit serum burn and pbsadhaka (darren) said that the two together puts the skin's ph out of whack. |

Just a bit of advice for everyone. Any time you irritate the skin, the collagen in your skin is damaged. And once that starts to happen, your face starts to sag, and than well,.... we don't want that to ever happen. |

As others have rightfully said, too much exfoliation going on here. Do the aspirin mask once or twice a week and do not exfoliate on those days. If you want to exfoliate daily (other than the mask) then choose something very gentle. I would not recommend using a harsh scrub on a daily basis (or ever really...). Also, cleanser goes before exfoliation |

wow awesome, thank you! those are really helpful tips! i didn't realize i was doing so much damage. that explains a lot. i guess i should start using dr. hccc again instead of the apricot scrub.
the only reason i'm using the aspirin mask is for acne. is there something gentler that i should be using? on a daily basis? |

Try a low concentration of gylcolic, like 8%, then work your way up to a 10% to 15%. Apply after cleansing and toning but before moisturizing once a day. AHA'a are often used for acne.
Remember to give your face a rest from exfoliating every 3 to 4 weeks for several days. That might help with both the redness and the acne over time. |

You could try Dermalogica Microfoliant. It's gentle enough to be used daily and it has some salicylic acid in it, which should help with acne. |

Also if you use the super cop straight after and asprin mask or other exfoliation acid you need to wait 30 mins for the skin to neutralise. Copper peptides are sensitive to acids and easily destroyed by them. Also do not apply super cop as a mask! It should be applied very sparingly to target areas. |
