My brother took accutane. It's harsh.

It makes you extremely sensitive to light. You must wear an SPF daily..and we're not talking spf 15, I mean like 30+.

It will dry your skin and lips out making you a nasty peeling RED mess.

It can harm your liver and kidneys. My brother went on it a 2nd time because the acne came back and had some serious health problems from it.

Basically, unless your face resembles the moon or a pizza don't use it. It's terribly expensive too. See a dermatologist and try other methods first, Accutane should be a last resort.

Birth defects are extremely high in women who get pregnant while taking Accutane. They used to strongly recommend BCPs. Now, I see that you are a guy, and probably aren't going to get pregnant, but my point is this seriously strong stuff. You should consider all the other options first.

I know you're a male!!! But if Accutane is rough on women and fetuses, its got to mess with your stuff too!!

don't get that desperate. I think it's silly to risk so much health to get rid of severe acne.

truthfully, acne is prevented and can be cleared naturally. Don't fall for the crap of paying loads of money for things that will magically take acne away. Take Omega 3 supplements, zinc, and other things that may be good for acne. teenagers, like myself, go through stress, hormones, and we like to eat not so well (i've seen my friends live off of a POP for lunch. and their acne is buzzing everywhere).

Please, just eat right. Drink up well, and in a few months it'll clear down. Get a few products maybe, but don't go blowing away your money on something that is going to ruin you for the long term.

Just cause the doctor says it's going to be okay, doesn't mean that it is.
Doctors make money, too, and unfortunately in this world it's money first, not your longterm health.

I agree with Everyone here. I took accutane and it's very HARSH. Plus, my acne came back after the accutane wore off.

And Ditto what Tia said.

Doctors here prescribe the stuff like antibiotics.. I spent a fortune on a supposedly great derm and all he did was take a 2sec look at my face and prescribe me Roaccutane.

I don't even have anything close to what everyday people think acne looks like... and I was already terrified of the stuff from just reading the pamphlets.

I have read a lot of acne sufferers lack a lot of zinc in their blood, so perhaps a boost in zinc and vit b complex will be good..

I took it 25 years ago and it was harsh then. I WOULD NOT let my son take it when he was in high school. If you don't have it that bad, don't mess with it.

3 or 4 small ones???? In NO WAY are you a candidate for Accutane!!

Get some benzoyle perodide (such as panoxyl 10), that'll dry them up quick.

Just have everything in moderation. You don't need to memorize specific foods.

Vegetables. Have them for lunch (and I also have them before bed. cucumbers, carrots ...I love mini-carrots). I promise, they will cleanse out your inside and outside. Try to eat them raw. You may not like it at first, but I've developed a taste for them. They're also energy boosters. Having 15 mini-carrots and some slices of cucumber really perk me up and make my skin glow.

Meat! Protein is essential for your cells to keep reproducing, if you haven't learned so in biology yet...which I'm sure you have. :] And it's true! It's not a bunch of crap from the science textbooks. You need protein. Sources of protein are in eggs, peanutbutter, almonds, meat (if you have steak, try to get it medium-rare, the red centre of meat has iron which is good for you.), and...well, that's all I can think of at the top of my head.

Carbohydrates are necessary, but better in the form of whole-wheat. White breads are full of sugar, and sugar is not at all good for your skin.

Anyways, sorry, I'm rambling on too much.
Remember, everything in moderation!

OH, and one more thing,
worrying about your skin will only bring on more pimples, as I've discovered countless of times.

It's aalllll psychological. Laughing

sorry, my bad...

I still think it should be used as a LAST resort only..
