I've been using the cleansing milk, toner, prep, Alphaderma, DermaExcel 7 and the Okusil since since the last week in December. I love these products. I like the way the JB products ease my lines and make my face feel good.
I've been getting get my forehead injected with Botox every 4-5 months or so. This past Friday, I went to get my forehead injected, and the lady who does it (and who hasn't seen me since October), spent half the time quizing me on my face and the products I've been using. I asked her what she noticed and she said, "the tone is better, color is make evened out, the crows feet are less noticable"...she said more, but I think you get the message. I have started making the ACV toner, and am using the OCM for cleansing, so I probably won't repurchase those products, but I'd reorder everything else!!!!! |

Just remember that the proprietor of J&B appears to be slightly unhinged and abusive to any customers who wish to exercise the “money back guarantee” option...For this reason, nearly every former J&B customer on this forum has elected to not do any further business with the company. |

Now let's remember there are always two sides to every story. We heard only one side, but we haven't heard from Ian (and we won't which is what I'd expect from a professional buisnessman).
I also had some frustration with the customer service folks, but no more than any other company out there. I qualified for the free DermaExcel back in Sept 05. I just received it in the mail (Feb 06) and not for lack of trying on my part. I bought the entire system because I qualified for the DE 7. Yes, my build a kit showed, but no DE 7. I kept getting the blow off, but I kept calling. Bottom line: I now have a free $160 bottle of product to try with my kit. J&B honored the fact I made the list. They didn't have to, but they did. I can't ask for more than that!
Sometimes it sucks, but even though I never received one 'promised' return call, I am still happy with J&B. I have never heard of a company send out free full size bottles of a product 'they know' works. It also seems Ian has done this in the past with the Vit. C and ADCE when it first came out. This is generous!!
I'm NOT going to jump on the boycott J&B bandwagon. The products work and that is rare in the beauty field. Besides, Ian may never again offer EDS members any other free trials and that WOULD suck!
We take our chances with every company we try and rarely hear the good news and always hear about the bad. I do know they have had a few customer service changes with personnel recently and I believe the company providing it too. I honestly don't know the whole story. I'm still impressed by Ian and Lou. |

My dissatisfaction is not even with Ian's "bizarre" behavior, but with the company overall. In my experience, they have very poor customer service. I e-mailed severals times with questions about products, and have NEVER gotten a response. I have called about orders being delayed, and have been promised a call back, and never gotten one.
If I am spending $150 on a product, I damn well deserve a call back when promised one. And if I am interested in purchasing a "new" product, I expect answers to my questions prior to the purchase.
I have ordered from many companies, and frankly, the customer service at JB was the worst I've ever experienced. In fact, it is non-existant.

A friend of mine and I both received the DermaExel 7 in the free promotion. Although I understand it seems to work for some people, it did absolutely nothing for either of us. Luckily I received it for free, otherwise I would have been mighty upset to have paid $160 for the stuff.
I think a lot of us were hesitant to post our honest reviews about it for fear of being flamed and publicly blasted, even though that is what this forum is supposed to be about...honest reviews from real people.
I hope now we can feel secure in knowing that we can post about our honest experience with any products...good or bad without retribution. |

Not sure how one can say that they have had to beg for their "free sample" for months on end is good customer service and the best they can ask for ? Receiving a free offer on February 6th, after one caved and purchased their entire line is absolutely INSANE to me. That in my book is unacceptable.

WOW!!! CareKate, I had no idea. I never saw any postings of that at all!! I'm shocked and appalled (to say the least)! I honestly don't know what to think about J&B right now.

I didn't clarify. J&B shipped it. UPS lost it. So J&B looked into it and replaced it. It did take awhile, but I never paid for shipping or anything else.
And for the record, I never 'begged'- I 'inquired'.
Also, I no more 'caved' into buying the Alpha Derma line than I have with the LashWand, OCM, HH Dr.CC, Ardell, Lauren Hutton, etc....and I'm glad I did on each and every one. |

Oh, I DO remember this, it was all so bizarre. All so frustrating. Ian's company IMHO, has very poor customer service (at least in the past several months). I can personally attest to this, so buyer beware. |

I voiced my honest opinion on DermaExcel 7. I said it did NOTHING for my forehead lines. Which is the truth! Actually, I said it did nothing more than the Alphaderma CE had already done. Then I went on to rave about ADCE, because it really worked wonders for me "11s" and forehead lines. Ian came on and pretty much said I was lying about DermaExcel 7 and if it didn't work for my lines, than not even Botox would help them.
That was the final straw for me and JB products. After the lack of customer service at JB, I had ordered them from Goldportbeauty.com (wonderful service by the way). But after his outwardly rude reply to my honest post (we all know not everything works for everybody), I decided he didn't receive one more penny of my hard-earned money.
Anyway, I find that the Relax-a-line serum along with the C+Firming works great for me. And Cellularskinrx has great customer service. Plus these products are much more affordable and I love their less ingredient is MORE approach to skin care.
Anyway....again my experience with the products was very good, it's too bad customer service wasn't more of a priority for Janson-Beckett company.
Lori
P.S. I must say though Winnie was always there to answer my questions. She was the only reason I didn't order from Goldportbeauty sooner. |

Deanne,
thanks for the clarification, but I stand by my statement that 6 months to clarify an "issue" is not acceptable for for me.

The JB products, the skin prep and the Alphaderma CE specifically, are still my mum's favorite products (together with the Vivier 20% serum as well). She's had really good results since starting them probably almost two years ago and she continues to use them. Interestingly, the skin prep has overtaken the ADCE as her fave product.
I am sorry to hear that some have had a very bad CS experience, I know how that can put a person off, but I am happy to say that I haven't had any problems when I ordered directly from them (and via only my billing/shipping details JB doesn't know that I post here). Even if I had problems, I would still continue to buy the JB stuff for my mum, but rather do it through EDS. Simple as that. |

That would be my suggestion as well: if you’re going to use J&B products, order through an “intermediary” like EDS so I don’t have to deal directly with that madman! |

What unfortunate experiences. Thankfully, I have none to report. I have always recieved wonderful customer service.....Lou and Ian have always responded to my queries (although I have not had any, of late).
Alpha Derma CE is my holy grail. I would be lost without it. I also enjoyed the Derma Excel (but would probably not purchase it due to the cost). It was quite generous to recieve a free full sized sample.
Please continue to create wonderful products for us!!! |

I emailed a question to JB as well and never received a reply back. They put copper in the ADCE and if you use the l-ascorbic c serum it can cause pro oxidation when used at the same time. I was wondering how much of a content was in this. Metal traces can wreak havoc on l-ascorbic acid. I ordered one bottle and when they did not answer me I never ordered more. I do not order from companies who have poor customer service period. |

I have no experience dealing with JB because I bought their stuff through the goldportbeauty site. I must say I am very happy with the AlphaDerma CE, Skin Prep and the C&C serum. The OkuSil is nice too but I prefer the Dr Denese eye cream which works better for my dry undereye area. Overall my skin has looked more fresh, more even toned, more pliant/better elasticity and less wrinkled. I also just started using the DermaExcel on my deeper wrinkles which have not been taken care of by the AlphaDerma and I did see a difference in a couple of days. A happy user here. |

I never posted my BAD experiences with J&B vit C serum because I got intimidated by Ian's replies to Karina. one doesn't wanna fight no win battles. I didn't want to be accused of being a new " Karina" or " Elmo". |

Wow! I had no idea this had happened. Well, sometimes the craziest people make the best entrepreneurs, right? And once a business is off the ground, those creative types that can be very emotional, usually will hand over the reins to a management-type and go on to their next great idea. Sounds like Ian doesn't need to manage JB but should keep on creating products that seem to work well for the majority of people who use them.
That said, I can't blame anyone for not wanting to give their money to someone who got ugly on a discussion board. I'm the die-hard cellularskinrx fan so I'll just keep on keepin' on with their products. |

I seem to be in the minority here but my experience with JB has been very pleasant. On two occasions I called with questions about some of their products which the sales person couldn't answer and on both occasions Ian called me back within minutes with a mini chemistry lesson. I just order another 3 bottles of ADCE and have been using it faithfully for over a year. The texture of my skin has never looked better. |

I got the 25% off email offer yesterday and thought it might be time to try the two JB products I had always wanted to - varicose veins leg cream (trying to stimulate circulation, not necessarily get rid of veins) and the facial scrub (due to Winnies raves). And thought at the big discount I might get the C&C
I spent 30 mins scouring the site for shipping costs and all I could find was how much I had to spend to get free shipping ($200 outside US).. so in the end I did a trial order with those 3 items to get the shipping.. now with the discount they only totaled about $90 or something... but the shipping was well over $20 ::gasp::
I guess I wont ever be trying these products because I wont ever have an order over $200 because I did not like the ADCE much and I refuse to pay more than $15 shipping on my skincare... oh for the good old days when Winnie had the special link to get free shipping no matter how much was spent. |

Let me get this straight. I missed out on a freebie heads will roll.
There products are good IMO. It is generous for a company who on 3 seperate occasions has sent full size products worldwide. If they weren't confident in their product there is no way they would do that. As for Ian. I don't know the full story, for those who've worked in customer service know full well some people can be a royal pain in the arse but it isn't our business so we grin and bear it, I guess Ian doesn't have to - and I'm not saying that anyone here has been a nuisance, but he is in a position that many of us aren't - to please himself. I do know we wouldn't get the CEO or MD of clarins posting here.
TT _ I could give you a list of decent products to take you to $200 |

But did you ever notice that he only makes those offers for freebies after he’s made an ass of himself on the forum and then wants to make amends and/or convince other members that he’s not really as obnoxious a jackass as his retaliatory posts make him appear? |

I remember he came on and offered the alphaderma first of all, lots of people jumped at that chance. I know some people got upset when he posted a link that discredited a competitor...The negative talk on here maybe be coincidence as if my memory is correct the freebies were offered and sent out before they were up on their site?
If he kept sending me free stuff he can be as much of a jerk as he likes up to a point |
