Definitely the VL. I've tried nearly all the major lip stains out there, and none of them could hold a candle to the VL.

ETA: The Smashbox Tinted Lip Treatment is more of a tinted lip balm. While I absolutely adore it (and have been "faithful" to it for nearly 5 months!), if you are looking for something to give your lips a lot of color, go with the VL lipstain. If you're just looking for a hint of YLBB, go with the Smashbox. Or even apply the VL lip stain, then top it off with the Smashbox tinted lip conditioner!

Carekate: I went to sephora's website and searched under smashbox's lips. They had a lip treatment with no color choices, a lip gloss, lipsticks, etc. Which is the lip item you recommend?

I don’t know why, but Sephora’s website AND the local stores only carry the plain, untinted version of the Smashbox lip treatment. In fact, I wouldn’t even have known that actual tinted versions existed if I hadn’t happened to receive the one called “Smashing Shine” in a swap on MUA! I loved the one I got on MUA so much that I immediately hot-footed it down to Sephora to buy all of the other shades only to be completely dumbfounded when all I found was the plain version. After that, I immediately got online and started searching for where I could buy the tinted Smashbox lip treatments and the only place I could find was from QVC.

QVC sells all five of the shades individually for – I think – $15 apiece, which sounds like a lot but the price is in the same neighborhood as the tinted lip balms from MAC or the “Lip Enhancer” from Peter Lamas (both brief favorites of mine, but the Smashbox puts them all to shame!):

• “Smashing Ray” is a sheer, dark berry color
• “Smashing Shine” is a sheer, juicy pink
• “Smashing Beam” is a darker, nude-pink
• “Smashing Solar” is a sheer red
• “Smashing Sun” is a warm red-orange (sounds scary, but it actually looks like a warm peach on the lips)

In addition, QVC also sells them in a two-pack for $28. The pairs are Shine/Beam and Solar/Sun. The item number is A-63762 and this is the link: http://www.qvc.com/asp/frameset.asp?nest=%2Fasp%2FisItemNumberRedirect.asp&search=SQ&frames=y&referrer=QVC&CLASSLEVEL=&txtDesc=A63762&SearchClass=

In addition, here’s a link to my original product review for these wonderous Smashbox lippies! http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=8691&highlight=smashbox+tinted

I own both “duos” from QVC and have been using them faithfully everyday since October. I sent one to “Lolli” in Canada who loved it as much as I do, although – unfortunately – she hasn’t been around the forum much lately and therefore hasn’t officially added her opinion to the product review. Also, I sent one to Mabsy as part of her latest “CareKate” package (i.e.: custom purchases of American skincare/beauty goodies), but I haven’t heard back from her on whether she liked it at all, or better than the MAC tinted lip conditioners I previously sent her....

HTH,
Carrie
