I tried the whole Proactiv 3-step system last year, but was really inconsistent with it. That was before I had patience with skin products. So of course, I couldn't say whether it worked or not, but I'd like to try again.

I'd like to just use the Proactiv Repairing Lotion alone instead of the whole system so I don't terrorize my skin with a bunch of new products. Plus my current routine is non-irritating and I'm not red -- just pimply. So I say, why make dramatic changes to something that's positive?

Every morning and night, I cleanse with Cetaphil. For exfoliation, I brought DHCC back into my routine a little over a week ago. My skin dries out and gets irritated easily so the combo of Cetaphil and Dr. H is nice and I haven't had any irritation with it -- just zits haha. I've also been making a zinc mask (same way you'd make an aspirin mask) just to see if that did anything. It might just be my imagination (or a good week) but the pimples around my mouth and chin are smaller and don't hurt as much as they usually do. Also, when I remember Confused I use a toner of half ACV and half water so as to not dry out my skin.

Now I'd like to treat the zits with something that's worked for a majority of people and that's where the Proactiv comes in. I tried Tea Tree Oil as a spot treatment which helped, but I want something that's going to be a bigger help. I just can't deal with the huge array of oils out there and trying to mix and match to suit my skin. I'd like to keep it simple.

I remember liking the Repair Lotion because it made my skin feel really smooth and I liked touching my face (naughty naughty Embarassed ). I'm a little concerned that it's going to be drying. Maybe I could dilute it with something? Or start off by using it every other day or maybe just at night? What do you think?

I'm two days away from purchasing a Shiseido sunscreen (tomorrow is pay-day Very Happy ) because it's the only one that doesn't leave my face shiny or leave that gross film of oil. And better yet, when I put it on at Sephora, it made my face feel really smooth too. Hopefully, it will do that again! Could I just use this as a daytime moisturizer?

This is a little off topic, but I want to try other products and don't know how to incorporate them into my routine.

Laura Mercier's Skin Illuminating Brightener with SPF 15. Would I use it after the Proactiv? Before Shiseido?

Jergen's Natural Glow. When do you throw this into your routine and what do you suggest I do?

Sorry I'm always bombarding you guys with questions... IT'S JUST THAT YOU'RE SO DAMN SMART AND LOVELY AND BEAUTIFUL
(flattery works, flattery works, flattery works Angel)

Anyway, hope to get some responses from ya. Later gators!

I've been using Proactiv on and off since 1999. I've tried other things but when I have a bad breakout I always end up pulling it out of the cupboard. My breakouts are mostly hormonal so at that time of the month I use the repairing lotion in the morning after cleansing and vitamin c and then I use sunblock. I only use the proactiv cleanser when I have a breakout because it is harsh and drying but I haven't found anything that works as well at getting rid of them.

Thanks freefall! I think I will just stick to the Repair Lotion because the cleanser is too rough. I don't like the little tiny grains against my skin, it's too irritating. Do you use any other products along with your routine?

Yeah, I use a lot of different things but I've never managed to settle into a routine. It's hard when I read this forum and people are constantly raving about things that I have to try.

When my skin is normal I use:
AM
Dr. Hauschka Cleansing Cream
Viver 20% Vitamin C Serum
Decleor Neroli Oil
ProCyte Ti-Silc Sheer Sunblock SPF 45
PM
Yonka Gel Nettoyant
Retin-A (I don't use this every day)
DDF Nourishing Eye Cream
Gatineau Electelle Lip Care

When I'm breaking out I add the Proactiv and Dermalogica Microfoliant for a little extra exfoliation.
