Our family is in a crisis situation today. My three year old grandson was admitted to the hospital today after a few day of illness that his doctor felt was the flu. Our little guy has meningitis. He is very sick and being treated aggressively to fight this infection. Right now all I can do is pray for this precious little boy. Please keep him in your prayers.
I just wish someone would pinch me and tell me it was a bad dream. |

I will pray for your family.
Don't give up hope, I have way too much experience with emergency hospitalizations. My family was told that I would not recover after dd was born I was in a coma bleeding for 6 daya (and obviously survived). My dd was premature and was hospitalized several times for asthma attacks that were critical again she is fine now. We had lots of family support.
I really believe in constant verbal stimulation if someone is in an altered state (high fever or in a coma even just asleep). When I was out my family read me "Wind in the Willows". For a child an infinite loop tape of a parent singing could be played continously. I believe in real emotional/physical links.
My prayers and good wishes are with you. |

Winnie...
Poor baby! I'm sure, like a good grandma, you aren't going to stop worrying until the little guy is back home wreaking havoc again. But, although a menningitis diagnosis is VERY frightening, I understand that it is more common than one would think in children under 5. The good new is that it's totally curable and, especially in a young child, doesn't do any lasting damage.
I'm usually a tuffie, but I know I just fall apart with sick babies and sick pets
Please keep us posted as to how he's doing. |

I'm sure he'll be alright..I know that won't stop you from worrying, but be strong & believe it. It IS curable, especially at that age. My thoughts are with you. |
