Hi all,
I'm a young guy who's just now learning about skincare, and I'd like some advice.
I have a collection of fine lines under my eyes that aren't a big problem but could be in the future. I spent a lot of time in the sun as a kid without protection (I use sunblock now thank goodness) and so I'd also like to deal with strengthening collagen for when I am older.
I've read about Retinol and AHAs, and they seem effective but I really don't want to thin out my skin or spend a lot of money trying to find a brand that works.
I've heard that Vitamin C/Copper Peptide does mend wrinkles and improve skin tone. Are there any affordable brands that are heartily recommended? I've been considering using derma e; is this brand good or not? Is vitamin C generally safe to use under the eyes (I've heard strong peptides can cause bags under the eyes)? How should I use vitamin c, and what works for you?
Finally, what can I do besides use sunblock to prevent deeper wrinkles?
Thanks for your time! |

SkinCeuticals C E Ferulic is much loved (but $$$)....the combination is supposed to be better than C alone. I now use La Roche Posay Active C (5%) and I am happy with it (and have not had any problems with it under my eyes), but plan on trying Cosmetic Skin Solutions C + E Ferulic when I am out. However, my neck is sensitive & I have not been able to use any C on it....even MAP.
I also use copper peptides every other night. I started out with Neutrogena's Visibly Firm serum & night cream. Using both helped my neck - the serum has been discontinued and I did not get the same results only using the night cream.
I have now switched to Skin Biology's Protect & Restore and like it. No problems for me, but others have reported problems.
Sunblock is your best friend and using a C serum under it boosts the sunblock's effectiveness. |

I recently bought a vitamin C serum at 20% strength from amazon.com, and I use it all over my face including my eyelids. It stings a little, but my skin is resistant, so I felt I had to use a strong C serum. This seems to do the trick for me as the other two brands of Vit C I tried didn't do anything for me. I don't know though if 20% is too strong for most people. |

One other thing, alot of people here make their own serum at home. If you search in the DIY forum, you'll find several threads and recipes on how to make it. |
