Hi,
Recently I was out in the sun for a long period of time and got a disgusting looking tan. I have brown skin, but now its even darker and and very self-concious about it. I was just wondering if I stay out of the sun, how long will it take for this tan to fade out naturally? Is there a way to make it go away? This is the first time ive gotten a tan that looks pretty bad so id appreciate any feedback.
Thanks |

My mom is German (a total white girl) and my dad is from Mississippi (he had some American Indian in him so he had darker skin). When I'm out in the sun, my skin holds the color for weeks. I think alot depends on genetics, your skin type, etc. You might try exfoliating your skin in the shower, it would speed up skin cellular turnover. |

The thing is that this tan is only on my face, The rest of my body was covered up, therefore i probably cant exfoliate right. Basically asking anyone who has had a tan before, how long does it take for the tan to disappear and for your skin color to go back to you normal complexion? |

usually 1-2 months for me...
I'd give an at home microdermabrasion scrub a try (like avon or loreal) |

Thanks a lot for your help. So the tan will slowly fade out in time it seems.
Any other feedback would be appreciated. |

Try lemon juice or a vitamin C serum to lighten the skin.
Retinol would speed up the turnover and get rid of the tan faster.
It is so funny to me talking about tans as where I live it has been 25 below zero with windchill. Any exposed skin freezes in minutes! |

I usually find colour fades from your face much quicker than other parts of your body.. It wasnt long ago I would do ANYTHING for a tan on my face, though this year having been using Renova and tca peels it will be a different story... Good luck... |
