I recently posted a question on the Skincare forum on this very topic and thought I'd give a review on the Vit C and B5 products.
I've been using these products for approx. 6 wks & during that time I've noticed a marked difference in the quality of my skin, specifically:
- my pores on and around my nose have been noticeably refined
- my skin generally looks in much better condition - I guess you could say it has a glow.
BUT, I have not noticed my freckles fade but saying that the Australian summer heat brings them out so in all fairness to the product I will see what happens in winter and after further use.
As you will notice, I've been using this product in the Australian summer as I don't find the Vit C serum is drying on my skin (I think b/c I apply B5 + moisturer as well). Note - I have dry skin anyway.
I apply it daily and use 6 drops of Vit C serum in the morning - wait 3 to 5 minutes (for the Vit C to sink in) and then apply 2 drops of the B5 gel. Following it will a Thaglo day cream and eye cream. Some other people asked whether the Vit C stings - it doesn't on me and neither is it oily. The only thing I do find a little strange/misleading is that bottle says that 5-6 drops of the Vit C serum is all that is needed to cover face and neck and even decolletege. I find 5-6 drops is JUST enough to cover my face and I'd need another 2 drops for my neck. So I must have a very big face!! You'll use the Vit C Serum twice as fast as the B5 Gel and hence being the more expensive product you'll need to budget for that. After about 6 weeks I've used about 10mls (ie about 1/3 of the Vit C Serum bottle).
I did get a little sunburnt recently and noticed that the Vit C serum helped my sunburn immensely - soothing the redness and obviously very healing to the skin.
I find the B5 gel is fantastic & 2 drops are definitely enough to cover my face & neck. The gel is a bit "runnier" than other gels I've used but it does therefore glide on my skin very well.
I store both products on the top of a dresser that doesn't get much sunlight and the quality of the products is still OK.
I tried using the Vit C Serum + B/5/Moisturer in the evening but I find it works best if applied in the morning.
I will definitely keep using both products & am very excited to see the price on EDS. I paid AUD$166 for my Vit C Serum. I see it is about CAD$70 on EDS (ie AUD $80!). |

Hello KM,
Thanks for posting a great review on these two products from Skinceuticals....I've been looking up info on Vit C on the forum and also find out what people's responses were to the product-- yours has been really informative. Also coming from Australia as well, I now have you and Mabsy as a good sounding board for product usage as climate does to an extent determine how I use my skincare. Mabsy pointed out that Vit C was better used in the daytime when there is more sun and you've also confirmed that so thanks!

ps. EDS is unbelievable when it comes to value, I agree! I was so excited when I came across the site, but the bonus was finding this awesome forum for skincare. I love the people on it, and everyone is so helpful-- we're like sisters as Leila put it! |

I WISH my real sisters were as knowledgeable and helpful as the participants on this forum! I've learned more from you girls in two months than a lifetime with them!
