Hi y'all... I have just started using a Vivier + Kinetin sample (2 days ago) and at the moment am gagging on the smell of it. It has a sickly sweet almost bubble gum fragrance to it.

I am wondering, is this the same smell that the regular Vit. C has?

I know we have lots of Vivier users out there, so maybe someone can fill me in!

Thanks!

From memory I think Vivier smelled like citrus, orangy smell...

I have Vivier 10 serum and it smells like hard candy and a bit citrus-ey. Probably similar to yours since you describe it as bubble gum.

I used Vivier 20% and I don't even remember it having a scent. My nose, not my skin, is sensitive to different scents, so if it did, it must not have bothered me.

The Vivier Kine+C has the same scent as the Vivier 10 and 20 serums. It does have a very specific scent - I don't know why but I always think of sessame when I smell it. It is a bit sweet I suppose... I quite like it Embarassed

I like it too Smile But honestly, yesterday I actually had to get up and check if it had any smell. It doesn't bother me to a point that I forgot it even had a smell at all.

Maybe it is just becuase it has more smell than the Cellex-c I just finished off.

I loved the cellex-c 17.5% but worry about how fast it turned color (mine came from Sephora and was already darkish when I opened the first time - but it still did wonders for my skin).

now I am testing out a few others to see what I like.

I did not like the texture of the PSF sample I had, and am not keen much on the Vivier texture (very similar to PSF). The Obagi 20% is also similar, but less glycerin-y than these two.. mind you, I would only buy the Japanese formula (has no SLS).

i still have the JB C&C to try and also a IS Clinical super serum sample!!

I would like to try the skinceuticals since everyone says it is watery like Cellex-c but have no idea where to get it now EDS dont stock it.

Thanks for the feedback on the regular Vivier "smell"!

Tiger_Tim,
you can buy samples on Ebay, and then if you want to buy a full size bottle there's a lot of places shipping internationally (like Drugstore.com for example).

I had the same experience with the Cellex-C 17.5% - but I started using it just past its use by date (I hoarded it for too long Embarassed ) so it was already yellow to start off with. I still had great results with it right through to the end.

The JB C&C is not particularly watery - it's more similar to PSF and Vivier but a bit less substantial from what I recall. If you like watery textures like Cellex-C then Skinceuticals serums should be good (though they might have changed since I have tried them as there was a formulation change at some stage from what I understand) and also IS Clinical Super Serum (the other ISC serums with vit C are more substantial than the Super Serum). Also, if you like watery then don't bother with EmerginC either.

well, hopefully by the end of the year I can be happily wed to a Vit. C serum for good.

Must investigate the strength of the other IS Clinical vit. Cs. The thing I love about Cellex=C is that is absorbs immediately with no surface stickiness. Also I love using the hydra B5 afterward. Just a great combo that is easy to layer.

That being said, I really dont mind the Obagi at all. It has a lot more slip than the PSF and Vivier I have tried, but it is more like a lovely oil texture that then just vanishes after a few minutes. If I used it in summer I doubt I would wear anything on top at all besides maybe sunscreen. It might be a go to test next Winter though.
