I was watching an old Michael Palin re-run of Full Circle last night and something caught my my attention.
He had stopped off at a settlement along the Peruvian Amazon and was talking to a local healer who was also a Shaman.
Out of all the plants he used for healing the most Sacred amongst them was the Hauschka Root.
At the Ceremony's where he healed people, the Hauschka Root was used as the Sacrament, he used it to produce Visions and claimed it gave him the power to heal. |

Very interesting! This prompted me to look up the history of Dr Hauschka and I found out that the name comes from Dr. Rudolf Hauschka, who was the founder of the WALA company, which in turn is the parent company of Dr Hasuchka (if I got it right). Seems this might have been a lucky coincidence.
I also googled for "Hauschka Root" and couldn't find anything about it - got any more info? I'm curious now... |
