Can anyone recommend some good handcream/treatment for sunspots? I was just looking at my right hand and have quite a few spots on it (guess they have been neglected over the years...)
Thansk! |

I have been noticing the same thing on my hands too. I'm looking forward to hearing what others recommend. |

I have also written to the lovely ladies at EDS for some product recommendations, so will let you know what they say too...
In the meantime I think I will start daiy use of Epidermx and Camellia oil to see if that helps at all (I have enough here to sink a battleship, so may as well!) |

Hmm.. epidermx might not have been the best idea...it lightened the skin which just made the spots stand out more
But I am going to continue trying it for a week or two and also I hauled out my ADCE and Skin Prep that I stopped using and put that on the back of my hand following micro derm treatment (I seem to remember JB reckons they can lighten spots too). And, just for the heck of it, will put my cellex-c vit c serum on the back of one hand for 2 weeks and will see what happens (wonder if I will have hands that look like that old dude in their advertising?! )
Anyway, this is what the EDS ladies suggested:
Cellcosmet Hand Cream $164/1.7oz(50g)Description: with bio-integral stabilized cells Cellular Hand cream treatment Anti-aging and protective effect Enriched with vitamins E + C to fight against free radicals. Helps toughen hand skin and promote faster nail growth. Helps prevent the appearence of cutaneous pigment spots. Smooths and leaves skin soft and supple.
B Kamins Maple Treatment Hand Cream $42/3.5oz(100g)
Description: A soothing, unscented moisturizing treatment cream that combats rough, dry skin and safeguards it from environmental assaults such as sunrays, harsh climatic conditions and soap detergents. Contains broad-spectrum UVA/UVB protection, which aids in the prevention of brown spots and premature aging. Also enriched with antioxidant ingredients to fight free radicals and help restore skin’s firmness and elasticity. Absorbs rapidly leaving skin non-greasy and youthful-looking. Ideal for softening cuticles.
Eldoquin FORTE Cream 2 percent Hydroquinone (By Glyquin) $54/30g
Description: Eldoquin is a skin fading cream used to lighten age spots or other dark areas of skin. These areas should be protected from sunlight during treatment as this product does not contain sunscreen. After treatment limit sun exposure. (there is a whole lot more on the EDS site about it)
I am using samples of the Cellcosmet at the moment, so will see what that does. The BKamins sounds nice. Will wait and see what Vit. C and ADCE does and if that does not work might have to get the Eldoquin one.
I noticed that DDF does a whole range of hyperpigmentation products and some had decent reviews on make-up alley, but I am unsure if they would be much use on back of the hand. |

Hi Tiger_Tim,
I have been using Vivier 10% C Serum on my hands and forearms for about 7-8 months but it hasn't seemed to have lightened any of my spots.
On the sunny days, I do try to use LRP Hand Cream with UVA/UVB protection to keep new spots at bay but haven't noticed any lightening with this either.
I've always heard about Hydroquinone helping this problem but have been hesitant to use it because I think I remember reading about some dangers related to it...I'll have to double check this.
Thanks for letting me know what EDS recommended to you.
I'll let you know if I find a great safe product for this. |
