What is best to use on the body? I have combination skin on my face but my body is SO dry! I can't afford at the moment to buy a bunch of specialized skin care products and blends, but I want to do something about this dry skin.
I bought avocado oil but it smells weird and leaves a yellowish green tint to my skin because of the color of it. Maybe mixed with other stuff it might be ok but not on it's own.
I still don't even know what to use on my face that won't break me out. I've tried coconut butter that makes me break out though. And coconut butter on my body doesn't absorb that well so it gets on my clothes etc. I need something that can take care of dry skin, is not too expensive and doesn't smell like a salad. Please help. I'm also veg., so no emu oil for me... |

1st of Welcome!
You have lots of options that won't break the bank. 1 of the 1st DIY (Do It Yourself) projects I tried after joining this forum was creating an after-shower oil, I have really dry skin, and it's even worse in the winter.
Some plain ole soybean oil. Ah, before we go back to smelling like a salad All you do is add a few drops of Essential Oils to it. Now, you can use the oil you probably have in your kitchen. That's what I did initially, but ideally you want to use a cold-pressed oil so all the good stuff is still in the oil. You can use an essential oil that will assist in healing your problem, or one that you just REALLY like the smell of. Right now mine is Bergamont Geranium & Lemon.
When your time allows, spend some time going through the old threads here. A TON of great info. It's easy to become overwhelmed with the information you read here. But, eventually you will begin to figure out what it is you that want to do and how you want to do it.
I'm not too well informed on what is Veg and what isn't, but you said your face doesn't like Cocoa butter too much. Have you tried Shea? Oh, that is where you can start! Do searches on oils, DIY. Do a search 1st on OCM (Oil Cleansing Method) and go from there. Even if you aren't inclined to DIY, or use the method, the information on different oils and how they work is really eye opening!
Happy Surfing, and don't hesitate to ask questions here. Most everyone is more than happy to oblige you! |
