Hi girls,
Just curious if any of you have tried these brands. I've ordered samples from pure lux and everday minerals and plan to order from monave.
I'd love to hear what peoples opinions are on these brands. |

I have samples from everyday minerals, aromaleigh and monave. So far only tried monave, and I like it. It leaves me a matte finished. Just amke sure you use the right color. First time I tried it, I used too light of a color, and I looked like I was wearing a mask |

roadtonowhere,
Glad to hear you like the monave, what type of skin do you have???
For the monave I was planning on getting the light-medium yellow sample kit so hopefully one of the 4 colours will work for me!
I'm somewhat interested in aromaleigh, but there website has some very harsh words on it that has given me a strange vibe...And the colouring is a bit too complex. |

hi lianne...
the type of skin that I have?
I have combo skin. I am Asian, so I guess I have tan colored-skin.I did not get the kit from monave. I think I got paula, canela, saturnina and tan girl. Among the four, the combination fo saturnina and canela fit me the best.
Yeah... Aromaleigh website is kinda weird.... The only reason why I got samples from them was because they are highly recommended by some ppl in the delphi forum mineral makeup mania. The samples that I got from aromaleigh come in this little zipbag, which I think makes it harder to put them on.
Oh yeah.... you might want to invest on a kabuki brush too. I got mine from monave, but I think you can get it cheaper on ebay. I just got a sable-hair brush set from ebay for I think $24.99 or around that, and I think you will have to pay for like more than $60 for a complete set from monave or aromaleigh. |

I have tried both Monave and Aromaleigh too. I used to like Monave a lot, until my skin started to get itchy from it... I guess it was because of the high titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide content... I am Asian too, and I use either Caroline or Hyeyeon.
Aromaleigh changed their foundation formulas after I tried some samples from them, and while I find the old version decent, I can't say anything about the new version. Plus I had sort of a bad shopping experience with them, so I don't buy from them anymore...
I'm actually using another brand call Beaute Mineral, and love it. It has a very light feel to it and the finish it matte. I used to think the coverage is not enough, but that was when I first switched from Monave... Now I realize I never needed that much coverage in the first place. And when I put both Monave and Beaute Mineral on together to see the differen, I found finish and coverage wise they looked really similar (Beatue Mineral is a bit lighter), but I could definitely feel the Monave makeup on my skin, versus I could hardly feel the Beaute Mineral... |

Hi Lianne - I sent you a pm with the lowdown on my Aramoleigh samples, but for anyone else that's interested...
The foundation colours I ordered (1N and 2N) were a bit too pale for my skintone, but I did find the finish was matte and covered pores quite well. Their shadows, at least the colours I ordered, were not heavily pigmented and are quite subtle. I also got Champagne blush, which is also very subtle and good if you want a reeellly natural look.
You are right about the website, its kinda "strange"

Roadtonowhere,
I meant like oily, dry, combination. I have yellow toned skin too, but not dark like yours. I'm pretty sure the light-medium yellow kit will be good for me. I went on their forum and that's what was suggested for me. I even put up a pic. eck!!!
china_pearl,
I've never heard of Beaute Mineral, do they have a website? I tried to google it but didn't find anything.
Anya,
I got your PM and appreciate it very much. I think I'll try these and if I don't find one that I like I'll give the aromaleigh a try. I find the colours confusing and the "strangeness" of the website has me scared to email and ask for help (how sad is that!?). |

ok, I just ordered the monave samples now. I better not get all the brands mixed up when the samples all arrive! I'm excited, there's gotta be something in there that I like...if not then I give up on MMU. |

I don't remember getting little bumps, but I did breakout a little bit from Monave. And my skin seems to be happy with Beaute Mineral, not breakout so far....

BO-101 (one of the yellows) is actually a really good match for me.. May be I'm just really "yellow"....
The finish is matte but natural. The coverage I would say is buildable, meaning the first layer is not heavy, but you can add more layers to get the coverage you need (just like all mineral makeup)... I like how it can look flawless but still very natural, versus I find some other brands look really flawless, but also heavy and very makeup-y...

i was considering ordering from here, can you say what in particular gave you strange vibes? i don't have time to examine the site in extreme detail so if you could point me to the places where they have harsh words i'd like to check out before i buy.
Thanks |

It could be the forum guidelines area that may be a little offputting. Aromaleigh has been slammed alot for being kind of territorial when it comes to their website - i.e. not allowing to recommend other products by name, and not slamming them as a company. They do allow criticism of their products, as long as it's presented in a way other than "your stuff SUCKS!" but they have dealt with a lot of people slamming them for whatever reason on other websites and discussion boards, so they may be a little sensitive there.
I don't participate too much on the board, but when I do, I find it to be very helpful, and everyone on it was great. Both Kristen (the owner) and Amy (her right hand forum moderator) have been nothing but kind and helpful in my experience. However....everyone is different.
I really do love their products. "Dune" and "Shell" eyeshadows are both everyday staples, and their blush "Verve" remains my all time favorite.
But, if you find the AL is not for you, there's so many other choices out there!!! Just going over to the Delphi Forum Mineral Makeup Mania board will have your head spinning!

lianne,
I had used MAC Hyper Real in NC200 (it's a bit pink for me). In Monave colors, I'm either Caroline (usually) or Hyeyeon (towards the end of summer). I had also tried Aromaleigh (old version) Y1/Y2 mix (50/50), and that was pretty good... Usually I use the 2nd lightest in most founation color scales...
Hope this helps...

If you add something to your cart and click checkout it you get this great big long list of policies and stuff laid out like it's for a 12 year old. I just found it weird. Never seen another site be so stern about things the way they are.
Oh, and I really dislike the minimum order thing. |

Minimum order... is that new? I don't remember having that before...
But I have to say Aromaleigh's site is really not the easiest to read/navigate... It always seems there's so much info on all the pages, and it's really hard to pick out the key points...
Just my humble opinions...

I dunno if it's new. You have to spend $10. It's not much, but if you just want a couple of samples it is |
